ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Everyone says that you should be a "well rounded songwriter" but at the same time, they say you need to "focus" or "choose a lane." Seth explains how songwriters should approach a specific genre when they're just starting out and how it might change when they become more experienced. There is a strategy, and a lot of songwriters don't realize it until they are already too far in their career.

I'm very much in the first stage right now. I write in EDM, Metal, Pop, Trap, Hip-Hop, Punk, Worship, Rap, and Jazz-Fusion. Honestly, I love almost every style. :)
Keep trying it all until you start seeing big traction in one area! Then go full on in that area.
Exactly same for me I write, alternative rock, pop, Christian music, country, rap, singer/songwriter, literally everything
I LOVE ALL TYPES OF MUSIC DEPENDING ON THE SONG BUT MY TOP FAVOURITE GENRE'S ARE METAL ROCK HIP-HOP AND MY MOST FAVOURITE GENRE COUNTRY
I am mostly focused on the CCM, but I am also inspired jazz/ blues, soul, country, and pop. Still finding my way as a songwriter, and I am looking forward to the years ahead as I learn and focus in on an area. Thank you so much for this video!!!
That funnel illustration made this so easy to understand! I think Christian pop/rock works for me and I should focus on mastering it as you said.
We are so excited for the upcoming song chasers course!! Make sure to check it out
Song Chasers is coming!! Can’t wait.
Yeah, these guys are the bomb - they are very clear with strategies and every video provides knowledge for growth, real content not wishful thinking as it is extremely clear, they are at the top of their game-But what I love the most that they stress is knowing your stuff by paying your dues , and the reality is that you must practice for hours just like a conservatory music students does! I have watched a bunch of videos and each video has the same high standards!
Thank you so much for the kind word! That’s the message we’re trying to share and we appreciate the way you succinctly put it!!
Great Content - Find your lane!! I can't wait for Song Chasers Course!!!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! :)
I mainly write worship songs but I love writing story songs that are basically radio songs that are inspired by people's lives that have never hit the radio. lol
Awesome video. Can’t wait to dig into the full course! Currently loving country music 😎
That was really useful thanks Seth. I'm more pop radio based, but I'm still learning what I like.
Thanks josh! Best of luck! Keep writing til you find the lane!
