Love the sound effects Blake! I’m a huge fan of sustainable harvesting and mussels definitely fall into that category as an under appreciated resource. I also harvest on hope island, but the Northern Hope Island 🏝️
When I was in Spain the locals showed me how they do it.....heat up a pot and throw them in....nothing else. Very good. I like some sliced onions, white wine, cilantro and fresh French bread.
Good interesting video Blake. I like mussels as well, hard to find a legal spot to harvest them in my area though and the ones I have found are just a little bit to small, less than an inch long, I did harvest a dozen or so once just to do it while I was out getting some oysters. When I was a kid, we would harvest, clean, boil & eat with a dab of butter right on the beach.
I’ve always steamed my mussels, I’ll have to try your recipe. Also the mussels I harvest from rocks on Oregon need to be purged much longer, nothing worse than biting into sand.
Hi "Blake Here", glad to see you back on the waters. Watch out for T-Rex, and hope you are having a good start to 2025! Perfect-sized little boat. Great information about mussels. Good catch & cook episode (I thought the same about too much Old Bay). Look forward to fishing down near Westport or event Columbia shad in June. Maybe I will bump into you. Thanks again for sharing. Blessings.
Love our local mussels. I clean off our bouy line regularly!! I like to gently heat them outdoors on a fir or cedar fire but you need to be careful with the heat as their shells are thin.
A fantastic surprise! Thank you Blake
Once again, most excellent sir. Yum!

Great video, master Blake! I saw a lot those at westport jetty too
Right on!! A little sushi shop in Brookings Oregon used to have the best green mussels.
Another great video Blake!!

I love your channel! Thank you! I'm from E. WA so I don't participate in shellfish harvest much. Razor clams on occasion.

The more old bay the better!
Whoa! Hope Island! I knew you were local but didn't know you were so close to where I live. You ever try Coastal Cutthroat around here?
Hey buddy 🐠🚤 please make more king videos, pt defiance, Gibson, etc 💪 jigging do you ever find them higher in the h2o column
Mussels are definitely under appreciated. They’re delicious and a generous 10lbs. limit. I’m not complaining though, more for us right 😉 👍
well done
Hi Blake 💙💚😃
Dinosaur Island 😂😂😂
David stinkeoway here, Hi old friend
I steam them in white wine. PNW has some of the best sea foods
Made me hungry. I always thought Penn Cove Mussles are from Penn Cove on Whidbey, do you know if that's true or myth?
My cabin is right behind you
I've just used to many for bait to think of them as food. Something I need to get over, I guess.
Hi Blake, ( it’s Patricia) my place up in the San Juan’s the big mussels we had are totally gone😮
That was a little more than 2 tables spoons of old bay 😂
i vote barnacles ok
