I just picked up hockey as an adult a few months back and just started to play in games so this stuff is really helpful for being someone who has never been coached before. Thanks for this!!
that has always been my problem.. i never really noticed until you said it at the end of the video.. about the position you play being fluid, and not like i had the mind set of as " well im RW i need to stay on the RW side and do RW things"... i hope this will help me on sunday when i play again, thank you sir.
Shane Hounsell The way I see it, a game of hockey is like water, it can take shape, but otherwise it's formless. Also depending on the play or zone will you need fluidity. D zone is more structure playing man on man (or zone defense if you chose to do the 3 men down low) with having D men covering the sides of the ice they are on and center aiding them wherever and whenever. This is why I love hockey. It's very strategic and tedious.
We call the clockwise cycle that you mention as option two as an offensive reverse...and usually we run a two man cycle rather than having the net side man leave a solid net position. What are the advantages of having the backside support and third man?
again, awesome video ! a lot of us who picked up hockey as adults and have never been coached really benefit from videos like this. thanks !
