I would check the tracking to make sure that your golf club has actually been delivered. UPS would’ve noted it if the package was damaged in transit. It’s possible somebody else in the household ordered the grabber or he’s trying to do a switcheroo.
That just happened to me! USPS though. Shipped a hat in a cardboard box. The buyer received a Nordstrom bag with a dress and my label on the bag. I refunded the buyer and currently appealing a claim that the post office initially denied. My first thought is some sort of scam, but who knows.
I don't think the carrier took a guess and slapped a new label on the package. I could maybe see a label coming off ONE package but not two packages on the same route. He's either trying to pull a bait and switch or he orders a lot and forgot he ordered a grabber. I would ask him to take a photo of the shipping label. I had someone who purchased a record label from me claim that he received a jacket, an item that I never owned. I asked him to show me the label on the package and I caught his scheme.
The return request…did he send you a picture of the shipping label that was on the grabber? I had a customer claim I sent them the wrong item but when they sent me photos, they had opened their NEIGHBOR’S package (mailman put them at the wrong doors). So I saw in her photos that the label was for her neighbor and from QVC.
I've had people do that, but when I tell the that is not what I sent and they need to send back what I sent them in order to get a refund, they disappear. They are usually fishing for a refund. Did they show a shipping label ON that package? If not, I'd call BS. Does UPS show a photo of deliveries?

Dave, I also live on the East Coast in Florida. We are in the Jacksonville area. What I would recommend is that you use PirateShip for a quote & put in a ZIP Code - for example 98101 is one of the ZIP Codes for Seattle, WA. That is about the farthest you could ship from here, not including AK & HI and.see what the shipping is that far and you can put a flat rate in the listing based on the worst case scenario for shipping. Or you just take a little bit off that quote and hope that the person not that far away that buys it. But I think in this case, the flat rate shipping will really help because seeing that the shipping could be up to $300 will scare a lot of buyers.
FAO Schwarz closed down years ago in Orlando, FL I went in with my brother and he bought a couple plush horses for me at a discounted rate since they were closing the store. I still have these horses with tags and most likely will never get rid of them. Giant plushies are awesome, especially rare ones like that fox guard door greeter. 😉

The desktop is far better to list on - take your pictures in one go - upload to your computer then you are ready to list 50-100 listings and don't have to keep handling things - I now use a smaller laptop so I can travel easily and list - the only issue is making sure I go home to ship regularly

If people claim they got the wrong item, I always ask for photos of the box and label etc. You should be able to file a claim with UPS. Don't give away money by accepting a return.
Here in the UK, if someone messaged saying they got a different item than you sent, its usually them trying to scam you. Even if the item they say they received is technically of a similar or higher value, they are hoping you'll refund and tell them to keep the item, or they'll try and force the refund through eBay. Not sure how things work in the US, but that stinks of a scam
You can prove that you sent a 4x4x48 box through UPS, because you paid for that size. So if that’s not what they delivered, then they need to refund you!

A couple of years ago I ordered some shipping supplies from an eBay seller. What showed up was 24 cans of flex seal. I contacted the seller and they reached out to UPS. It looks like my original order was damaged during transit so they took the label and put it on the flex seal box and sent it on its way. The seller resent a new order of supplies and then submitted a claim through UPS to get his money back on the first order. In your scenario maybe just refund the customer and then file a claim to get compensation for your original order. It sucks but it does happen.
Wardrobe boxes are made of thicker, heavier cardboard than regular boxes which weighs more so much more expensive to ship. 2 large Walmart boxes Frankensteined would weigh much less and do the same job for less money. Thoughts for another day...
I once had a package sent to me where the label had came off and got stuck to another package. I was very confused when I opened the package to find someones immigration application paperwork. USPS was very confused and didn't want to help saying " but its your name on the label". Eventually another employee came ober and peeled the label back to reveal the original label and took the package back. Never did find out what happened to my original package, but I do think about that person from time to time and hope they got their application approved. 😂
I sold a dress on ebay...the buyer initiated a return saying that i sent the wrong item. They showed these blurry photos of a dress that looks nothing like the one i sent oh and i had just sent it to her, so it hadn't even been delivered yet 🧐 so i contacted eBay...then after all that she gave me a good review saying that she got the right dress and it was great 🙃
I had someone message me about a crochet kit that I had listed, she told me she received everything but the instructions, I checked and I hadn't even sold it yet (I still have it) I responded back that she didn't get it from me, I still have mine for sale. She responds back (well can you send me the instructions) lol. I told her no, I was not opening my item and giving her the instructions out of it. I didn't hear from her again.
I have settled on a mix using my phone to take photos which get automatically uploaded to the cloud. I can then download the photos on my laptop and generate the listings while I lay on the couch and watch your videos. ;)
dave, in regards to the golf club, i had something similar happen once, the buyer had bought so many items from different sellers that they were confused on what they ordered from who. once i confirmed this with them we were able to sort out which shipment was mine. sounds like your thing is different but if it happens again this is a good thing to check in with the buyer about.
I had a 20$ plush sent out and the guy said he received a case pack of square D breakers worth 200 I told him sorry for the mistake and send them back for a full refund. I never have sold circuit breakers in my life, USPS mistake got me paid that day
I ordered a knitted Seahawks scarf. I received an application (high security) for someone trying to get hired by USPS. No kidding. Every piece of information a scammer would need to take over this person's life was there. I gave it back to USPS and they didn't even thank me.
I get free boxes all the time off FB Marketplace. People always have moving boxes posted. Lots of times also give free bubble wrap and paper they have leftover. I have moved both my daughters multiple times in past few years at college and after plus myself once and always used free boxes and supplies. Only had to buy a little bubble wrap and tape. Has saved hundreds of dollars.

Fastest Way - Create listings on computer - save as draft (templets or sell similar) Open up drafts on phone take pics launch. Or can save as a completed draft in bank. This method you can easily get 20-25 an hour if selling similar items. 100 a day in 4-5 hours. This is a way to get to the next level. Not that 100-300k a ayear that everyone seems to get stuck at
I had a pretty weird episode , buying ...I bought an item ...was tracking it , was supposed to be delivered one day then said running late ...next day said DELIVERED..... TO IOWA ...I live in CA ... I sent a screen grab to the seller and asked whats up ... he said "IT EVEN SAYS HANDED TO CUSTOMER" ...Ok , BUT IN IOWA ...Not me in CA . He called me a cheater and blocked me and I called EBAY and straightened it out on my end , but it was strange . Weird thing was I was a regular buyer from this guy
Why not use Freight or Pirate Ship for very large boxes? Just today I was sending a box from Oklahoma to Virginia for my daughters birthday and I saved $20 using pirate ship box 20 x 14 x 10 and it weighed 10 pounds UPS wanted $40 FedEx wanted $60 USPS was $36I think and pirate ship did it for $20.27. Quite the savings for shipping her a bunch of Monster High dolls.
Does the gold club say delivered? Is it your label on that box? Maybe the club hasnt showed up yet and something was misdelivered to him, and he thought it was his gold club?

I assume you did all your previous career professional work on a computer and not a phone. That alone should tell you the difference from what a decent workstation can do instead of a phone. Your accountant doesn't do your taxes on a phone. Stephen King doesn't write novels on a phone. The more you care about business details the more ludicrous the idea of listing on a phone becomes. I am slowed down at listing if I don't have at least two monitors and really prefer 3.
What I do is I use my phone to take the photos it goes to Google photos I have Google photos up on my computer and it let's you drag the photo from Google photos and put them in ebay and mercari it's alot easier for me I don't really need vendoo it's very easy to cross list without them at least for me. also a huge issue with doing things on the phone is looking up prices but for some reason on ebay on the app the prices are wrong vs on the desktop try it sometimes it will show me different prices for sort by low buy it now vs if I looked up the item on my computer idk the mobile app is OK with getting an idea of a price but idk how many times I go look up a price while out then I come back not even that long and the price is completely different I'm like wait I just looked up this it said 15 plus shipping but now the lowest is 5.99 plus shipping then I'm like dam I lost money. watch out for that. keywords are identical and settings to search are identical.

Did the guy send you a picture of the label? He might be messaging you by mistake or is trying to trick you.

Bike shops have large boxes you can get for free and resize to fit. That's what I do for large orders

We just draft our listings with pictures and starting price on our phones and finish the listing on the computer. It’s so much faster.

Get a phone dedicated to nothing but eBay photos, don't log into any apps or anything else, just eBay and take pictures, no distractions.
I assume you did all your previous career professional work on a computer and not a phone. That alone should tell you the difference from what a decent workstation can do instead of a phone. Your accountant doesn't do your taxes on a phone. Stephen King doesn't write novels on a phone. The more you care about business details the more ludicrous the idea of listing on a phone becomes. I am slowed down at listing if I don't have at least two monitors and really prefer 3.
What I do is I use my phone to take the photos it goes to Google photos I have Google photos up on my computer and it let's you drag the photo from Google photos and put them in ebay and mercari it's alot easier for me I don't really need vendoo it's very easy to cross list without them at least for me. also a huge issue with doing things on the phone is looking up prices but for some reason on ebay on the app the prices are wrong vs on the desktop try it sometimes it will show me different prices for sort by low buy it now vs if I looked up the item on my computer idk the mobile app is OK with getting an idea of a price but idk how many times I go look up a price while out then I come back not even that long and the price is completely different I'm like wait I just looked up this it said 15 plus shipping but now the lowest is 5.99 plus shipping then I'm like dam I lost money. watch out for that. keywords are identical and settings to search are identical.
I do all my listing via DT and take all photos via my phone.

Didn’t know that… I draft all the time. Haven’t had that experience but was told that eBay chargers for drafts vs immediate listening. Idk.
