I preordered this lens to take advantage of the $250 discount. Very excited! I do understand those who say this is overpriced, but I think there are factors that justify at least some of the price. I would highlight them here but don't really feel like typing that much! I am personally going to enjoy the reach and small form factor...perfect for my hiking adventures and no tripod!
@@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker I didn't hold onto the lens! I realized that for my needs the slow aperture at the long end wasn't going to cut it for many of the lower-light situations I often find myself shooting.
Hi Pav, great review! I was wondering if you think this lens in combination with the S5 would be ok for low light situations as in for instance concert photography? F2.8 would obviously be better but i can't afford the panasonic 70-200 f2.8. 😅
Thanks for this review. i have already the Sigma 100-400 DG DN. it is a perfect lens so I'm afraid this 70-200 will be duplicated... For the macro, i am considering buying the Sigma 105 DG DN.
Czy próbowałeś ponownie fotografować tym obiektywem już produkcyjnym i z najnowszym oprogramowaniem? Czy Panasonic usunął wymienione przez Ciebie wady? Pozdrawiam
@@PavSZ I understand that, I'm just comparing the two. If this helps, currently have the Tamron 70-300 for my Sony A7S III however I want another camera system hence my interest in Panasonic.
you can take the picture of whatever you want with it. If you are asking if you can take a close-up photo of the moon with it, then the answer is, no. You need 600mm or longer for that
it all depends on what you actually shoot and what are your preferences. I do like Sigma 100-400 a lot and I have reviewed it awhile ago but this is also a decent lens. There is also a big price difference between them
Hello thank you for the video. Very clear information. I had to return the lumix S5 after just oneday using it. It is just bad. I don't understand why people are so hyped about it. Even my phone has better auto focus. It is a shame really.
thank you for watching! S5 is a very capable camera - I think photo auto focusing is on par with any other current mirrorless camera and for video is 100% better than auto focusing of any BlackMagic or Red camera 😉
Hmmm... I have need of something like this for my landscape work which I don’t earn from and as such, the price is about 500 more than I’d spend, so it’s a no from me sadly. I had been looking forward to this one but hey ho...
Considering I had similar lens from Canon used for 300$, I couldn't imagine paying 1200$ for such a lens. but I found a deal for 500$ So I think for this price it is worth it ))) but 1200 - I would never pay so much for this glass
That soft image wide open and unresponsive focusing has turned me off considering the price. I can see this selling poorly and having to be heavily discounted like so many of the S series gear has in the past. Guess I just need to wait.
Amazing images, my man! You have a great eye, and paired with this lens, the results are outstanding.
aw thank you very much!
Lovely Images , Pav . Thank you for this review.
Many thanks!
I’ve watched a ton of your videos, didn’t realize I wasn’t subscribed until I saw your post on Facebook. Subscribed now 👍🏻 great work!
Awesome! Thank you!

I think it is well priced for what it is - especially if you can take advantage of the discount right now
Curious if you noticed the autofocus issues that Pav mentioned in the video?

@@chrisfigley How you like the 300mm f2.8 instead?
Paz, I love your portrait work. Please consider doing a series of BTS videos showing how you use natural light to style your portraits.
Thank you very much!
I'd love to do some BTS videos but it's a bit difficult when I shoot on my own
Thank You for your review! Amazing work!
Thank you!!
Great review Pav! I see a nervous defocused area from this lens, but it doesn't bother me...I'd like to use it for landscape photography!
thank you!
Great lens for landscape and portrait!
Another good review Pav.
thank you!
I have the 50-200mm Leica for my GH5 but I wonder if I could replace it with this 70-300mm ? Tonality, low light and bokeh seem better !
I think 70-300 is much more sophisticated lens. Only you can decide
You might mention whether it's for M4/3 or L-mount.
it is L-Mount only
Thank you for you video. It's really nice to me.
Would be useful if you compared it with the Lumix S Pro 70-200mm F4.
I might do that video soon
you could compare it with the Sigma 100-400 and talk about its uses
I will be doing that comparison when I can get a production copy of this lens in May
@@PavSZ thanks you have excellent content on your channel greetings from Puerto Rico island 🏝
@@elcafedeangel thank you!

@@PavSZ Did you get a chance to compare this lens to the Sigma 100-400 DG DN OS ?
I ordered the 70-200 F4 for $892 US and the 70-300 F4.5-5.6 for $814 US. I'll compare them when they arrive, but which do you prefer?
70-200 f4 is my go to lens when I need the zoom these days

I think it would be ok.
In my opinion concert photography is not that low light. S5 has also very good high ISO performance to compensate

I couldn't agree with you more
How does it perform in poor lighting? The f4.5-5.6 worries me for evening/night shooting.
as expected. It's how you use it and with what cameras. All current Lumix cameras have very good high ISO performance
if you want to save some money, use a Nisi close up lens... for just $120 you can add a very good macro to this lens... I am testing right now...
for sure

Compared to the Tamron 70-300 Sony?
but why? You can't use Sony-E mount on Lumix camera

Panasonic zoom lens or Sigma 100-400 F5-6,3?
