    Some of the more unusual play lengths I have in my collection (mostly from Japan) include: C40, c46, c50, c60L (leaderless) c64, c70, c74, c80, c100, c110, c130 and c150. I'm still missing c10 and c20.

@@olaniyi570 That's a lot more lengths than I was aware existed. I've just received a wrapped TDK C15 computer cassette and I'm expecting two C10 computer cassettes shortly. For right-left stereo check and demo use respectively.

I like looking for cassettes with weird play lengths like 74 because everyone once and a while I'll find something I like that is like and hour and a bit, and the efficiency part of my brain enjoys matching the cassette to the length of the playlist, album, or album + single.
Just ordered some TDK CD power 74s for that reason, there is a videogame soundtrack I really like, but doesn't neatly divide up into units divisible by 15 minutes.

Yes, I don't like having blank space at the end of a tape. Although, I have Auto Blank Skip on a couple of players.
I think the 74 minute ones are to match the maximum length of a CD. It's fun to obsess on these things :)

    I use mini-disc 4 more electronic type music & I use cassette 4 instrument type music & hip-hop.

Cassette for hip-hop just feels and sounds right, doesn't it. MD for electronic and synth for those digitally produced sounds is a good idea. Thanks.

I've been very mean to SONY CDit II sliding case cassettes. I've been cracking the shell to steal the tape, that's pretty much all there is to it for me.
The shell, the hubs, the slide case all scream cheapness. It hasn't even got a magnetic shield in the head slot. But the tape itself is not too shabby, that's why I use it to save valuable Type II cassettes.
You wouldn't want to kill an SA to save an historical golden SA or XLII. Even doing that to a TDK CDIng II would be such a shame: it's a quality cassette shell with decent Type II tape. But this one... I can rip one apart no regrets, it's even got no screws... let alone the fact that I would never leave my cassettes in an open case nor bring them around like that.
The concept is fundamentally flawed to being with. The most likely place where your cassettes are going to gather dust and grains is outdoor. I can imagine one day at the beach with a portable STEREO and these cassettes what kind of damage they can inflict, not only to your portable but also to your Hi-Fi deck once home again. Anything cassettes having to do with carrying it around should have a complete enclosed case and that alone is certainly not enough.

That's a very interesting concept, using good donor tape to 'save' a more valuable shell. In my forthcoming BASF video I state that life's to short to spend a long time trying to save tapes when I have lots of other tapes that I can use instead, but interesting-looking shells could be saved by using donor tape. I'll think about that.
I've always tried to keep my possessions original, no customisations on cars or anything smaller. If one replaces the tape in a valuable cassette tape, it's no longer the same valuable cassette tape. Something to think about though.

They look nice! I dont record on cassette as I find it so difficult

    • @CBitsTech
      @CBitsTech  4 года назад

It is more difficult, but tonight I've recorded an 80's hip hop playlist to tape for nostalgia reasons, as I would have listened to it on tape back in the day. My MW-EX610 Walkman is way smaller than the Panasonic I used back then. I still have the old Panasonic, but the battery holder is been lost over the years. Maybe the subject of a future video.

@@CBitsTech I have a huge sony walkman from the 80s. I can't believe people would carry them around! people must of had bigger pockets back then!

Blue slip case tape, i gues that litlle noch you didnt know why is there, it is on up and down side, so i guess it slots in capstand slot and locks tape in place, and those two plastik bits inside just for unrawel.
Mines soon be delivered, so for now im just guesing

Yep, you're right, the notch goes in the capstan hole, you genius.
Did you get yours yet? I love the tape shell (and tape), but not keen on the cases; they're interesting, but not symetrical and not as good as the usual style.

P.s. you dont know how to take tape from slim case, it was unusual for me too, dont slide it up, just take from sides and lift ;D

It was painful to watch how person who has no cassette experience is trying to take off the cassette wrapper.
