That’s what’s happening now all the time, brains says faster and body saying no… we realise we actually should go faster but its not just knowing it and doing it unfortunately 🤣 but we just going to carry on, really tortoises style now
Its a pity you skipped the D707. In my opinion its the most scenic road in Namibia. It is sandy in places and rocky in others, but the views are incredible.
Yes it’s a pity, but we are honest about our skills and we decided that we did not want to risk it. When you are living like this and don’t have a place or home to go back to for fixing yourself or the bike and no backup, sometimes you need to make decisions 😊
The sand is definitely not our cup of tea! Give us Rocky Mountain passes and we’re happy. But besides the sand Namibia is a stunning country, worth the struggle 😄
We were once driving through Namibia and the place was extremely hot we had the aircon on full blast and you could still feel the heat from outside. Can't imagine having any mechanical issues in such a place, especially on a bike. Beautiful and rugged place though!
Well done, we were there a few years back. If you get the chance be sure to visit oom Basil at Brandberg Rest Camp in Uis ! Safe travels further, we might see you on the road somewhere.....
I guess, you really only two options - get used to the sand and ride faster to prevent overheating to the 890, or get out of dodge and head for Botswana - Either way your still living the dream. Vasbyt people, I know Namibia is tough, (I spent enough time running around there in my national service days back in the early eighties). The best part of the country is still ahead of you, Walvis bay, Windhoek, and all that beautiful area up towards Angola, the caprivi - ya nee it’s a beautiful spot.
We are aware of this of course, but it doesn’t work if your mind want to do that but your body refuses! And that’s what happens sometimes. We just take it as it comes 👍🏻😊
@@thetravelingtortoises take the leap and try it. Use engine power. It goes against all instincts but works. I had similar experience crossing Australia years ago on a GS and was pleasantly surprised. When your front wheel starts hesitating give throttle. No brakes. And hand off clutch.
Die Gemsbok is 'the Gemsbok' or the South African Oryx or the Oryx Gazella. It is from the genus Oryx. You will be masters of sand after this trip. So enjoy the upskilling.
Jul doen goed. Julle leef die freeman lifestyle.
Baie dankie!
Thank you, it was a bit of a rough day, but we are happy to be doing this! We don’t have much problems with the ktm’s. Nothing with the 390 so far and with the 890 it was just this overheating problem once.
We cant really complain about them at all actually 😊 yes it overheated once in +40 decrees while going through sand at 10 km/h for a long time, but I can’t fault the bike for that. But I also know that there is a large group that doesn’t like them and that’s perfectly fine. We all need to trust our bikes if we go somewhere remote and if you don’t you should switch!
Getting more and more envious about the areas you ride in. Namibia looks so beautiful. 👍
It is gorgeous! And if you’re ok with sand it’s probably one of the most spectacular and remote places to ride
Stress. The brain saying 'faster' and the body saying 'no way'. Respect. Well done on the Talcum powder.

Absolutely understandable
Respect to you Okes..... those sand roads are no joke.... not everyone's cup of tea! ..... I'm with you Werner!

Sometimes we see the land cruisers driving past and we momentarily wish we had a car with aircon 😂 instead of motorbikes
Well done guys good luck.
Thank you!
yep cant complain about the fine dining lol camp style , ride safe guys ❤
Definitely not complaining about that meal! Was delicious, best fancy camp food we had so far 😁

You both are doing great 👍
Thank you so much, we appreciate it! 😁

Sometimes there is on of those rough days… but we will keep on going 😁 makes for good memories afterwards
What an amazing place, but very hard on the iron horses and their riders!
Definitely! Thank you 😊

Thank you! Don’t think we are going towards Brandberg but we will keep it in mind!

We won’t give up of course 👍🏻😁 and Botswana Looks like a lot of sand as well! We just need to keep going
There's just as much sand in Botswana...
Unfortunately sand driving on roads like that has to be at a higher speed not at 20 kmh. Speed gives momentum. Stand on the pegs too.
We are aware of this of course, but it doesn’t work if your mind want to do that but your body refuses! And that’s what happens sometimes. We just take it as it comes 👍🏻😊

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😁

Knap gedaan, daai pad is maar n uitdaging...707 is notorios...😅
Baie dankie! Ja dit was nogals n uitdaaging gewees! 🤣
did u have any problem with ktm bikes? i hope u will get more happy.

Yet another reason I no longer own a KTM.
