lot of bullshit... Uber driver anywhere in UK has to have a private-hire lincence as any other private hire driver, his car has to be licenced including having to pay taxi insurance and all council fees like any other private hire (preebook only)... They are just worried about competition... You cannot stop the world moving ahead, you cannot stop development...
It's about time Uber with it's slave labor and it's non licensed drivers was told to either shape up or ship out.Their cash grab recently was all about the greed.
The knowledge now days is a complete waste of time. That is what they use to justify their high prices. A neighbour behind me does it and does ok, but only because he works and he also drives a class 2 lorry part time. Does all illegally because of driving hours and so on. A fried if mine did it and then for a few years it was just misery and misery. Just could not earn the money he thought he would earn and the hussle with the upkeep of the cab. He gave it up to become a bus driver. I fully understand the drivers frustration of putting in all that work for then not to be making the money they thought they would be making, but unfortunately uber has proven that anyone can get behind a wheel in this day and age and take you to your required destination with out the need of taking 4 years out of your life to do a knowledge that is worth nothing compared to what you've put into it.
I don't quite understand what the protest is about. Do they have some kind of permission to block the roads from the mayor of London ? If not, why aren't they penalised accordingly by the police ? If you want to protest, you can go in font of parliament so that you don't block everybody because you don't like your job or because you no longer have monopoly over taxi. They are a private company like any other and the world uses gps now, you don't have to memorize every road. The pollution is getting worse, that is why regulations must be applied. You obviously don't care about that, most of them care only about money and tricking tourists by diving them all over instead of taking them from A to B, not to mention their tariffs. Black cab logic : "we don't like competition, we like how it was when we had monopoly". "We don't care about environment, we only care about our pockets". "Let's block most of the busy roads on rush hour so normal people can hate us more and have less customers as a direct action of your stupidity". If a private company can create a demonstration like this, then every company should do the same, see what happens then. I'm a banker and I don't like other banks doing business in UK, black cab logic is that I should block all transations for my bank and for the other banks and also block roads so I can be a a stupid idiot.

Black Taxis are greedy. they hate mini cabs, uber & motorcycle couriers.
The cabbies are pathetic for years they could've updated their services but will go the way of the dodo for failing to evolve...
