    As a true Bristolian, born and bred in Bristol, I can guarantee it's a beautiful city to live in with a history going back many, many centuries, but with al the facilities of a much bigger place, with all that you'd need in the modern world. You'll love it!

    Joe, by commenting on clutter and bed linens, shows he isn't actually seeing the home. The clutter and bed linens are not coming with the house so don't waste your attention on them.

    I do not agre whit it being wrong looking at propertys online as being serious. Maybe uk marked is different. When I wanted to buy a house in Spain i was in Norway and looking only on the internet for 2 years. And then when I knew i was getting the money I looked for 6 houers every day for 2 weeks. I had never been to the area where I was looking. I was recomended the area from a friend. So then the day after i arriwed I had the real estate agent show me around 5 houses i had picked out. And then I signed the contract for the house i asumed I would buy. I have had this house now for 9 years. And I am wery satisfied with it. I think that if i had just come her and started looking, I would have found it confusing and difficult. Never buy a house without looking at it first. But looking at internett can make you learn a lot about the marked and the prices. Internet is a good way for looking at homes.

      Your situation is far different! Most people would be uncomfortable ordering a car online let alone a house. Generally speaking, house hunting can be researched but eventually you are going to want to be inside a house before you know you want to live in it!

    Yes. Between the costs of down payments, closing costs, 7-8% interest rates and any updates or remodels etc. any "profit margin" that our parents once experienced is now eaten up. Sadly, those days are gone.....

    All these people who want space for dinner parties and entertaining. Do what the Japanese do: keep their houses for themselves and socialise with friends at restaurants. Although having said that, Japanese restaurants are much more reasonable than those in Britain.

    A budget of 270k in the Cotswolds is a bit of a joke for what they’re asking for. My budget for my next house will be around that (only based on my salary, not including my partners) and I’m looking in the north west.
    You need a budget of about 500k to get something decent there.

    I find it fascinating that so many people in this series turn down homes because the bedroom is too dark. That's the whole point, guys. You don't need a lot of light when sleeping. The less the light, the better for long term health actually. The "popular" road should be less impactful from the thick stone walls in the basement as well.

    • @carolineandrews7231
      @carolineandrews7231 6 месяцев назад +3

      I was thinking the same. So many say they want to be close to pubs and all the social scene, and entertain at home. But reality is that all cost a lot and with a mortgage and living costs isn't sustainable. And your fiends walk out of your place and go home, and you're the one with the expenses.

    • @thehungrygoldfish
      @thehungrygoldfish 6 месяцев назад +4

      No one is saying they will have this flat forever. It’s difficult to plan for the long term. I say buy somewhere that will suit your needs for the next five or so years and plan to move to your next place for the next stage of your life, whatever that is. Don’t try to buy a place for the life you’re going to live 10 plus years from now.

    The original budget was already too optimistic that's why they daren't stretch to the last property. Joe is greedy, timid and unrealistic. Not the best character traits to build upon.

    • @CalistaRea
      @CalistaRea 6 месяцев назад +4

      I don't feel that Joe is greedy. Buying a house, adding value, selling and moving up or simply along, has been a way of doing things for years. The message is that that type of opportunity is not as available as it once was so all that pre-programming that has gone on in Joe's entire upbringing with regard to how to handle real estate has to change if he is to be successful. If not, he should simply invest his income and rent and trust his wife will be happy with that. 🙂
