Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine Shimenawa (Shinto Straw Rope)

😲After 6 years, the giant shimenawa that decorated the outside of the Kagura-den of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine is now retired and in its place a new giant shimenawa.🌄
It took more than a year to finish with more than 1000 sets of hands involved in its making but is finally up for the world to see. 🤲🏼 (July 2018)
📸Whether you have seen it or haven't seen it before you should definitely go and visit because it is only changed once every 4~8 years (depending on its condition).👍👍👍
The shimenawa is made locally within the prefecture at Iinan-cho Ohshimenawa Sousaku-kan in Iinan. There they make shimenawas in all different sizes with the one at Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine specifically being the biggest of them all. 🗾
