I totally understand having your preferred sounds from them. I also think it’s really important to remember that their whole brand is about breaking stereotypes, pushing the boundaries, and always doing something unexpected. Personally, I would be really disappointed if this had sounded like something else in their discography bc then where would the growth be? I also think that this showcases why is kind of important to look into their other music content as it provides more context into their sound. Heavy rap has been part of their repertoire for a while now so while this song still had many surprising elements, it fell in line with other content they’ve produced. This was everything I hoped it would be!

Huh? You did not expect the song like that? They are an rnb/hip-hop/rap idol group doing rnb/hip-hop/rap songs/tapes for a while now lol. Also, this was advertised already as an all-rap song before it came out. Sure, it's not for you since you don't listen to pure rap, so it's ok i guess that you don't feel it.
One thing you can expect from XG is experimentation and the unexpected. Me personally, I love this since have been waiting for them to release something that is pure rap.

Yeah I also mainly listen to Kpop, not pure rap but as soon as I heard the full song and realized that it's NOT Kpop I fell in love. It's an absolute banger and really nobody in Kpop and would release this with a full comeback budget.

This is a pure hip hop song. And that was the intention. If you listen to 90s and 2000s hip-hop, it follows the same format, the beat is hard but simple throughout and it allows the rappers to show their different flows and cadences. Not everyone is going to like it but they are definitely scratching an itch for many hip hop fans. But keep in mind, their talent has no bounds. They drop "Vox 6" literally a week before this and flex their vocal skills. No other group is doing that at this level. 🔥🔥🐺🐺

If u want more vocals, u should react to the Vox's because Woke up is more like a Tape from all of the members. Xg wanted to try something unique and different by having an all rap song, and the full rap song was teased way before it was released. After all Xg is a Xpop group rather than a Kpop group Lol. Maybe in the future they'll go back to a traditional song layout.

I recommend you to listen to their last collab with Riot! UNDEFEATED I think this one you’d like it more it has hip hop but also the vocals shine (and omg Maya never fails to surprise me✨) I loved it!

xg will and should invite many different types of reactions. but just remember theyre not typical idols and probably wont be producing typical kpop bops or try to reinvent their previous tracks. theyre always going to experiment, whether its in the way their tracks are arranged, the concepts, or pushing boundaries, they're gonna surprise us. kpop bops are a dime a dozen now, its nice to have a group that is exciting and is going to do something unexpected or weird or crazy. i do not want them reinventing shooting star, let alone mascara, even though they served in their own ways. xg isnt going to be everyone's cuppa and i hope they stay that way.
Let me just say that there is not a SINGLE female Kpop idol that would EVER dare to shave her head. Cocona is 1 of 1 man. Absolute LEGEND.
I think the song will grow on you once the dance practice comes out, just my guess ;) lol but that being said, Aaron, appreciate you for keeping it real on your first impression and most importantly be respectful. That's why I come back!

They are really extraordinary with all these multiple skills and talents (jpop, kpop, pop, r & b, rap, balladase etc ...), not to mention that they sing in 3 languages and their choreography, which are one of the most difficult today in Asia. In fact they are xpop pis are universal. Congratulations girls, you really deserve to be at the Billboard top, and now the world knows you and will be even more surprised by so much talent. Extremely disappointed with this comeback. I still regard this group as most talented group. However since 'LEFT RIGHT' I must say I have lost enthusiasm for this group and their content.
Well I'm sorry to hear that but it's personal preference what we can do. In my case, for example, it was exactly opposite - I began to fall in love with them after Left Right. And this comeback was beyond my expectations 💥 The only parts I didn’t really like "Woke up like this Like this So don’t get under my skin" idk something feels off
Sorry for that but this song is my top 1 after Shooting star 💫, and they’re already in the top 3 US Hiphop ITunes, that’s impressive 😊
