I clicked because I just bought a Street from japan and anxiously awaiting its arrival in the US. I stayed for the cool vibes from the rest of video and you earned the "like" from the michael scott in the middle. Thanks for the vid and happy travels
Just watched this whole video.... 11 months after it dropped and honestly i feel like weve become bestfriends and i want yall to come to NYC to visit now xD
I have a Mitsubishi Minicab truck with a 5 speed manual. I'm not sure if I'd drive it on the highway; it'll do 100kph, but it feels like I'm wringing its neck. It's much more happy going 60-70kph (and I get better fuel economy.) Nonetheless, it's great to see you road trip in a kei vehicle! Happy future travels!
Great can great video, does your van have 4x4? Oh I see you still tried to get your biking in despite the temp. Go boy. Great show. Safe travels in that beautiful Honda ACTY Van. Blessings from ATX.... I'm getting my Subaru Sambar at the end of March 2023 can't wait.
:) WELL DONE! LOVED it! I wondered hoe it would do on our freeways, just as you showed, stay in right lane, all is good :) ALL the BEST and Cheers from PNWest! :)
A tachometer AND an odometer trip meter? Well la ti dah! Aren't you special? 🙂 I don't drive my Hijet pickup on the highway. Today I bought the components to reupholster the seats. I'll be making the seat bottoms three inches thick. Maybe after that, I'd be willing to take the Hijet on a long trip on secondary roads. I also bought the components to add heated seats in my Hijet. Well la ti dah! Aren't I special? 🙂 I had a VW bus and VW camper van in the 80s. I'd love to have a 4WD kei van, although I've been contemplating making a drop-in camper for my kei truck. See Olympic Overland and Mike Festiva for details. I have aspirations to drive and camp on Texas' Gulf beach, but farther south. I'm going to ride my baby GS adventure bike from central Kentucky to watch a SpaceX Starship launch in Boca Chica.
@@adamleebmx - It'll be my first time on the Natchez Trace. I'll probably take a month long trip through the desert southwest. I haven't been on a vacation in so long that I can't remember. You two seem to be enjoying your youth. I have a lot of great memories from trips I took when younger, rock climbing, mountain biking and white water kayaking. You will not regret your fun travels when you're older. Have fun (as much as possible during The Fall of the American Empire) and take lots of pictures!
Adam and Cassie, this video filled me with so much joy. I love your zest for life. Love the little triple hum of the motor. What does the plate FRTNWRP signify?
So glad to hear that, we had a great time. FRTNWRP is my business Fortune Wraps in Plano, TX. We do car wraps and protection films. I also make videos there if you care to check those out!
Looking to pick-up a KEI truck for Texas driving. Noticed your license plate. How did you get it licensed in Texas? Much of the info out there is confusing. Thanks, Ed B.
25 years or older can be registered with only a safety inspection and insurance (I use Hagerty). I had mine titled in Washington through the importer when I bought it, made transfering it to Texas much easier
I just got mine done and yes tx is trying to keep em off the streets but depending what county u r in and how strict they are you'll be alright if not keep trying ..it took us a full month to get my 92 acty registered 😢😢
How much did a replacement windshield cost, and how/where did you source it? I'm guessing the local safelite glass doesn't stock it. :) A big concern on importing one is just exactly this issue, not just for the windshield, but for every part of a 25+ year old imported car. Thanks. Oh, and I really enjoyed your video!
Your oil must have been BLACK during the oil change. You should send a sample to Blackstone analysis Im curious how your engine did? I know people who throw motorcycle 10w40 to 10w50 since they said it doesnt get as dark on highway runs. (Which makes sense since motorcycles rev to 14,000rpms avg)
Hey man, is your van turbo or supercharged? or just the standard kei? I had a suzuki every van, but I living in a hilly area so it was too dangerous on the freeway. Though I'm seriously considering another kei van, but I'll need a few extra horses next time.
Sick! Thank you. Yes I got a full size memory foam topper and it fits in the back perfectly with the seats down. I also got some curtains to keep it dark.
Just found out about Kei vans (i know I’m late to the party) but i love your videos Adam! Will continue binging and getting inspired to buy one myself maybe… how is it driving on the right side? I‘ve only ever driven automatic and on the right side so this seems… uncomfortable. Anyways, cheers!
It's not too strange driving on the right side, the turn signals and wipers are opposite of lhd cars so that always trips me up when I get in my other car lol
I imported my Hijet mini truck. It's a pain. It's probably worth the $3000 to have someone import it and register it for you. The process is tedious and nearly impossible for a first timer to get right, even if you have an online import broker. There is also a long delay. It was three months after I bought mine before it showed up at the US port. I made the 21 hour round trip drive to get it. It had a blown clutch so I waited six weeks for parts from Japan. It was another couple of weeks before the mechanic installed the clutch so it was almost six months before I was driving my truck. It's awesome now, but getting it was a hassle and not for the impatient.
@@Liberty4Ever It's a shame all the time you waited... I thing nobody expect for the things can be wrong. But now you are happy with your mini truck! ;)
I purchased mine from an importer in Washington (Boeki) and had them do the import paperwork for me. I got it with a Washington title and transferred it to Texas.
I get a little over 30 MPG driving my Hijet mini truck in town, and I don't baby it. It gets twice the mileage of my 4Runner, and it's a ton of fun to drive. It's also surprisingly practical for hauling stuff, whether that's groceries, Chinese takeout, plywood, drywall (no fender wells so the brittle drywall lies flat), or a huge pile of brush and limbs. 4WD is awesome on these little kei vehicles.
I will always be charmed by a kei vehicle parked between 2 pickups.
6k rpms at 60mph is wild I would be afraid of blowing it up
I was too, but it’s still doing great! I drive it on the highway twice a week
I’ve driven mine coast to coast three times now without issues! Just cruise around 85kph the whole time avoiding highways
I was bout to say the same, im gettin mine this month but in auto i should ve gotten a 5 spd 😢😢..mine will suffer on hwy@@adamleebmx

I did a quick calculation. That's 45mpg on the highway, going 6000rpm.
sorry for the confusion, 24mpg as that was my second fill up in the video
Own a 90 Subaru Sambar Try XS and 'peak torque' on them is 3800ish and flat to roughly 5000rpm. Once you go past 5K the MPGs will tank.@@adamleebmx
