So many men ,good husbands , are not “handy” with tools or interested in fixing things around the house. Kirsten, you are so fortunate to have Jorg. He can see things the same way you do and always seems happy to please you. I really like the light sconce next to the clock. It almost looks like white antlers, a “hunting lodge look. ”. Your dining room is so cozy & warm. I can’t wait for the amazing German dinners you will be cooking for guests or just the two of you.❤
To me, a modern, open plan house cannot compete with the old style homes. Formal dining rooms are such a treasure to have and give our lives a touch of eloquence. Love what you did. You should be proud of your choices.

Kirsten we really like the yellow walls it really brightens up the room and makes it look bigger. The curtains are very beautiful. It always amazes me how much Joerg and I have in common. I am a big fan of Frederick the Great too. I have a picture of him in my library and quite a few books about him and by him including a drill manual and instructions for his generals. You are very artistic in your decorating you could be a professional interior designer. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful dining room with us we can't wait to see it completed. Beautiful! This was the colour of my bedroom when I was a teenager; it always made me smile when I walked in (it was a north facing room)! My mother used to collect snuff boxes but she tended to go for floral ones! I was very lucky as my parents used to buy me antiques & paintings for my birthdays & Christmases when I was a teenager! Keep them coming! x

Beautiful dining room. That room would traditionally have been the front parlour, only for guests, the family would have lived in the back of the house. Your whole house sums up British cosiness, especially on a rainy day when staying indoors becomes a pleasure. Love your book collection, who’s the Harry Potter fan? ☺

Hi , Joerg and Kristin. I’m so curious to seeing your dining room 😊. Joerg I’ve bin to Lidl and bought Lübecker Marzipan, they are delicious 🤤. And also Marzipan potatoes, also delicious. Normally I only buy Belgium chocolate or marsepein , but I have to admit that the German Marzipan is also delicious 😋.
25 November were going to the Weihnachtsmarkt in Köln, its a two hour drive for us . Love love Köln so much ❤it’s a beautiful City ❤❤❤❤ lots of awesome shops , and the Dom is awesome 🤩. Oh my, I love the curtain fabric, beautiful! You too have done a gorgeous job on your dinning room, how lovely! In the Frederick the Great book the items are called “Snuff Boxes”. I think you said Sniff Boxes. Love the fireplace with the tiles it looks like it’s in the Arts and Craft style. The Ginger Jar is amazing too! Love the May time Music box it’s a treasure! Everything went together so well. I like how you personalise your decor too.The antique books also were lovely to see. I think the little boxes, contents for sniffing, were called snuff boxes. I’m so excited you’re making huge progress in the dining room. Yay! I love the yellow and the fact you painted the walls and built-ins the same color. It helps with flow. I went to the fabric store and picked up some William Morris style quilting fabric, remembering a video a while back when you purchased the kitchen tablecloth and talked about your hallway wallpaper. I saw a young British person on YT pointing to the picture rails in her apartment and saying “what are those stupid pieces of wood for, I’m ripping them out”! Anyone with plaster walls knows how essential they are for hanging art. The original ones in my Victorian home have a lovely wreath and garland design, but it’s obscured by so many layers of paint.
