  • Pune also known as Poona, is the second-largest city in the state of Maharashtra, India, and is located in the west-central part of the state. It is situated at the junction of the Mula and Mutha rivers and is often referred to as the “Queen of the Deccan,” “Oxford of the East,” and the “Cultural Capital of Maharashtra.” Pune has a rich history dating back to the 8th century and was ruled by various dynasties, including the Rashtrakuta dynasty, the Mughals, and the Maratha Empire.
    The city is known for its cultural activities, including classical music, theatre, sports, and literature. It is also a significant educational center, home to numerous colleges and universities, earning it the title “Oxford of the East.” Pune has a diverse economy, with a strong presence in the automobile, information technology, and manufacturing sectors. It is also a popular travel destination, boasting natural and historical attractions such as the Shaniwarwada fort and the Aga Khan Palace.
    Pune is situated on the Deccan Plateau, 560 meters above sea level, and has a pleasant climate, making it a desirable place to live. The city has a population of around 7.2 million in the metropolitan region, making it the seventh-most populous metropolitan area in India.
