Hi! MetaDoom's QA pitlord here to explain a few things: -The Unmaker can be powered up by collecting demon keys. These can spawn around BFG9000s if you already have an Unmaker. With three keys, you get a powerful rapid-fire spread laser cannon that can mow down mobs of enemies! You also need the keys to use the altfire... -Yes, the fire extinguisher can dispell Arch Vile's fire magics. Alt fire uses it on yourself to do just that! -Why did you call it a flamethrower? -Dog Collars are in fact an item from the original Doom RPG for Java Mobile devices! And they do pretty much what they do here: turn a demon dog enemy into a collared, weaponized dog. They also turn damage done to enemies into armor, up to 100 units! -RNG is not a friendly entity, but it makes things much more interesting, and makes each playthrough of a mapset unique. Maybe you'll get different equipment in a level that requires a new strategy? -Only having a single altfire for weapons is a design decision made by Kinsie. As such, there's no plans to implement Siege Mode for the Gauss Cannon. -If you don't like the structured pacing, which is designed to give you better equipment as you make progress to better handle the harder enemy variants that spawn in, there is an option to turn on "Content Locust Mode", which throws away all the structure and randomly generates everything with zero regard to playability. I highly recommend you don't do this, it isn't fun. Thanks for the awesome video!

Nope. Doom 3 had something relatively similar to the original BFG. This is like the one from Doom 1 Alpha version. It sprayed plasma bolts everywhere but I think the game engine couldn't handle it so it was changed.
Yes, the dog-lead-thingie was an actual weapon in the first Doom RPG (the same goes for the Holy Water Pistol, but it was from the second one. It also had some WTF-boss called Pinkinator). Whoever made this mod - that person is a real fan to a whole Doom franchise because I don't think many people remember mobile Java-games Doom RPG and Doom II RPG nowadays, although they were pretty cool and unexpectable back in the days. I'm ready to swear I still have one on my old Siemens S75, but I don't remember where I left this phone a dozen of years ago :D
I love both Doom RPGs... Like, more than is probably normal - same with Wolfenstein RPG and even the generic-as-hell Orcs & Elves. I love Doom, I love tile-based dungeon crawlers, I love silliness in my games... They're perfect. I remember being genuinely mad because when Doom RPG first released I still had a shitty black-and-white flip phone that couldn't run it. I ended up diving straight into the deep end of the early days of cellphone emulation just to play it, then immediately bought and played it again as soon as I got a better phone a few years later. I'd love a proper rerelease on PC, especially since you can't even buy the original for phones anymore.
Yes, I loved the Doom RPGs and Wolfenstein RPG, and been wishing that they would get some form of official rereleases for years (thanks to EA being fucking EA [publishers of the RPGs], that will almost certainly never happen now that Id is owned by ZeniMax/Bethesda). Orcs & Elves is a nice RPG to burn an hour or two with on the DS if you're having to wait, but I absolutely LOVED playing Wolfenstein RPG on my iPod Touch a decade back.

The holy water pistol, is a weapon from the Doom RPG phone app. I enjoyed playing it, and that's something since I'm a die-hard Doomgirl. This is an outstanding mod! Both in the weapons included, the time they took in programming the correct graphics and actions, and all the damn monsters. This was a labor of love. No doubt about it.
Oh, and you should check out a mod called Bullet-Eye on the zdoom forums. It's still being developed, but there's a fair bit of content in it so far. It's a SNES/Genesis themed gameplay mod with a lot of weapons that seem to be inspired by shmup powerups and old school sidescroller shooters like contra
Holy shit, holy water pistol! This was the last weapon i expected to see here, i mean yeah, Doom 2 rpg is a part of the Doom series, but it's such and obscure title i thought it was forgotten.
It was a great game on mobile, so yeah, any port or remake for that matter would be great. But with the way ID is now, i don't even think most of the people there know this game exists...
I think i had a working java emulator on android. I got it by searching Wolfenstein RPG on the Blackmart app (call the cops, idk), it was pretty functional, and it didn't require anything besides the app itself and the original jar file. It might still be on there.
Guys, I have never seen the Holy Water piston in DOOM RPG. I won't get my old phone any time soon (it's at my mother's house). The flame extinguisher and the Cerberus with dog collars were amazing, the mechanics weren't really there, but it's a mobile game... What I want to see a mod made of is Orcs and Elves. It's also a mobile and Nintendo DS game made by id Software using DOOM RPG game engine. It was amazing, it's weapons were insane, like the talking wand (your character wasn't talking, so the wand was speaking with the NPCs). The wand was striking lightning, you had something similar to Thor's hammer (basically a BFG with close range), you were making deals with a dragon to buy armor, weapons and stuff in general, the atmosphere was amazing, even for the lacking graphics (I only had the mobile game, the DS has some added things apparently). Orcs and Elves would make for an amazing DOOM standalone mod, like Nocturne in Yellow.
I actually liked the slow pace that you get to see new weapons and new enemies. It might not be the kind of mod if you just want to play some quick levels and be done with it, but for a whole playthrough sounds very fun.
Good to see his was done, also in terms of weapon/item/enemy placement, if you go to the options menu and turn on content locust, so you get to randomize things up, meaning you get to met certain enemy types sooner and get something like the water pistol before the shotgun

As usual, an excellent video. A big fan of Doom Mod Madness. The Doom 64 laser or "Unmaker" only works well if you collect the three "demon keys" from the main three secret levels. The demon keys also close the teleports where demons spawn in the final level or doom 64.
I'm a simple person with simple needs. And I fell in love with this mod in one simple moment - when playing through Doom 1, Super Shotgun spawned in Nuclear Plant. And suddenly, I had a giant grin on my face.

Yes if i remember correctly, the doom RPG had a collar that let you tame dogs, but I'm not sure if they let you use them as a melee weapon, if i recall, it just made them attack other enemies.

I think the secondary fire of the BFG might be a homage to what ID originally had planned for it, which is that it would spew many small plasma bolts everywhere. This was too much to handle for the hardware of the time, so they changed it to one giant ball that would hurt everything in a cone as a secondary effect.
the water pistol probably came from doom 2 RPG for mobile phones from the time of j2ME, in the game you had a holy water pistol that scared demons and zombies away and was an instant kill on lost souls, you could drink the water from it to replenish your health as well. and the dog cokkar was on doom RPG you would get it by falling in to a trap and it would be your only weapon until you could get your weapons back in a locker
fun fact about the BFG originally the BFG was going to shoot like, i billion tiny plasma balls instead of the one big one, but they could not do that because the computers back then were not powerful enough

Do the collared dogs absorb damage like they did in Doom RPG? Also, I"m sad that the Ionized Plasma Levitator (the Grabber) from Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil isn't in this. I loved grabbing enemy projectiles and throwing them back.
I love the concept of Meta Doom, but I sort of hope that there's a later version that also splits the elements apart. I'd love to see a sprite version of all Doom 3's weapons, and the other bits as well. Kinda like a "Quake Generations" version of Doom... "Doom Generations"!
If someone don't notice that...second fire of bfg is refference to concept of bfg where not big one plasma ball but wall of plasma balls Also...in typhon is weapon what relates to this concept Except normal bfg there is big plasma heavy machine gun what is overgrown with moss and looks like bfg 9000 Also in deltadoom you can try every classic weapon and even classes with old hud what looks like helmet with interface like maps, founded secrets, treasurs and others and there is classic enemys from devbuild (This also can be customized) but to the point...i belive delta doom...unmaker is a weapon what developers planned even in first game This is also one of the best doom classic experience in mondern style mod ever:)
I'm also seeing bits of Doom 64 in there. The shotgun model and parts of the minigun model specifically. I guess you bring up the unmaker as well. Also, some things I might associate with Quake or Wolf3D. Interesting looking mod.

Doom 2 RPG is still available on iTunes at least, but I dunno about anywhere else and I know WolfRPG/Doom 1 RPG aren't.

The chain gun is a mix of the doom 64 chain gun and doom 4 chain gun.

Also in deltadoom you can try every classic weapon and even classes with old hud what looks like helmet with interface like maps, founded secrets, treasurs and others and there is classic enemys from devbuild
(This also can be customized) but to the point...i belive delta doom...unmaker is a weapon what developers planned even in first game

I'm also seeing bits of Doom 64 in there. The shotgun model and parts of the minigun model specifically. I guess you bring up the unmaker as well.
