Thanks ! so sick of every reviewer saying it was average, good enough, not that bad... this show is BAD, from beginning to end ( ok except maybe a few scene that were really cool )
Having Azula be the jealous one (which is ridiculous in its own right since he still gets his fuckin face burned and got banished) just comes across as change for the sake of change. It doesn’t tell us anything new about Azula, and it just reminds us more why this show doesn’t work
I like the idea of Azula training in martial arts, similar to how Zuko in the cartoon is shown to be a skilled swordsman. As powerful as Azula is, Ty Lee was able to incapacitate her with 2 hits, so it's sensible to be able to fight without bending as well. But I do question why bow of all weapons - in any close combat situation bow is practically useless and the only time it would be useful is when she can fire bend just as well.
As we saw in the eclipse episodes, azula is excellent in martial arts because the original tied bending pretty well with actual martial arts so that a bender can still fight without their element.
Because her firebending can’t reach that far, so she used a bow instead. A sword would not “make more sense” lmao, that’s for close combat which she could just use firebending for
@@ilykatara If you haven't seen any of the clips Fsoas chose, or her entire fight at the western air temple, you would be proven wrong as her fire bending could definitely outrange a bow and arrow, (also its not just her fire bending that has high range)
I don't even want the Happy Appy review anymore, I want to see the Korra review you've been teasing us with since that one Fish Bites. I'm so glad this is the direction you took this channel as a fan of the creepypasta stuff for so long. I haven't enjoyed a long-form review like this in a while.
Hearing Tao call airbending "air power", triggers my nervous twitch. Another excellent video. I was actually ok with combining these storylines, but you've made great points explaining why Omashu was the way it was, and how these changes mess with that. Excellent observation on how the narrative thrust is contrived now, as well. And I think you've broken down the issue with the Azula/Mai castings in the best, most pragmatic way possible without sounding like a bully. Cheers all around. I don't mind seeing Azula practice her aim, though. Probably needed to save money on effects wherever they could, so if they can't have her practice bending, this is a fine substitute. Archery is a precision-based skill and Azula is a precision-based person. It's a neat way to tell the viewer something about her character. I just wish they bothered telling us something about her friends. Think about how Ty Lee was introduced in the cartoon, doing the most visually interesting thing possible, and compare that to how she's introduced here.
Combining different episodes into one was inevitable in Live-Action and there was a way to do that which Netlfix failed at. Having the mechanist and his son be refugees settling in Omashu actually makes more sense than in the Northern Air Temple like they did in the original. Earth kingdom stronghold agaisnt a temple somewhere in the northern mountains which is supposedly impossible to reach without an air bison. But here's the problem, this whole "fire nation will attack the city unless i cooperate" is some bs. Mechanist is surrounded by Omashu's walls and dozens of earth kingdom soldiers. He's risking his and his son's freedom far more by betraying Omashu. What the live-action should've done was to keep mechanist working for the fire nation out of the first season and use it in the second season, when Omashu will actually be occupied. The mechanist in season 1 should've been just a likable dude that gave Sokka an advice to persue his own talents and built weapons for Bumi's army, evening the odds with the more technologically superior fire nation. Second change that should've been made is Jet. Jet and Teo should've been combined into one character. Teo's bloood thirsty attitude towards fire benders is something Jet had in the show. Why not combine these. Freedom fighters alos do not fit in this version of season 1 since there's no one to liverate Omashu from. Would've been much cooler if Jet founded the freedom fighters in the occupied Omashu where it would actually make sense, he maybe would've resented his father for collaboration with the enemy, he could've even been crippled by Long Feng in the end puttin Jet in the wheel chair like Teo was. When you make changes for live action, they should feel organic and make sense. This is Netflix's greatest failure with this show
0:05 One of the biggest giveaways of set is the ground, why is it a different colour from all the other stone around them? Why is it so perfectly flat? Why so clean? It just makes it obvious that everything has been freshly placed there for a take, ready to be put away again. Just doesn't feel lived in.
9:10 for the archery scene I could see a point for it, not as in her needing it in combat but as a "nobles" pass time hobby or show off sport, like how nobility would go "hunting", not for the food, but to show off their hunting dogs or horse
They are trying to combine like 3 or 4 different plot points that all happen at drastically different times in the story. It just doesn't work lol. They are trying to do Omashu's introduction, the Northern Air Temple, Omashu's Fall (or at least trying to justify it. which seems to be a trend with this show. thinking they need to "fix" the old show), and the whole Fire Nation terrorism all together. With the whole fire nation terrorism thing feeling super forced. The fire nation are a blunt instrument. If they are gonna attack, they just attack. Azula was characterized to be this big exception who put together a group of misfits to act as spies to infiltrate the last remaining earth nation hold outs. And they acted as legitimate spies. They weren't going around attacking random people. It kind of ruins both the fire nation and earth nations later characterization in Ba Sing Se. Cause it's actually the Earth Nation who has a whole network of espionage that is very unique to them. Contrasting the blunt nature of their bending. Which further enhances azula's character due to how well she gets along with them. Meeting people she understands unlikes the fire nation who again, act more like a blunt instrument. Quite literally represented in the fact their main plan to attack Ba Sing Se is a giant drill lmao What made Omashu's Fall so shocking later into the show is cause Omashu was genuinely built up to be this impenetrable and heavily defended fortress. Guarded by one of the most powerful earth benders in the world. Character's and story plots are all ruined to justify what they did here.
I recently watched Avatar on netflix, i loved it to the end, and since i dont want to watch the same thing but worse and in live action, i thank you for making these videos, keep em' up!
Why are you making this instea- Wait. I like this more. Why are you doing game content? I want more of THIS! Am I entitled? Yes. Do more. Please. Pretty please? But seriously this is good shit please do something more when you are done with this show.
Watching this makes me happy I skipped watching this show. I’M SO SICK OF LIVE ACTION REMAKES!! THEY ARE SO UNNECESSARY. This entire show is the product of Critical Race Theory in Action and other stupid modern ideology destroying Hollywood. It’s just as stupid as the forced recasting of voice actors for cartoon characters or the absurdity of looking for a blind Chinese woman to voice Toph. In reality the Avatar world has fantasy ethnicities with phenotypes that DO NOT EXIST IN REAL LIFE. THE 4 NATIONS ARE CLEARLY A MIX OF NUMEROUS REAL LIFE CULTURES.
This episode is full of wasted potential. Honestly I think combining the mechanist and Jet (on a surface level at least) works pretty well, and they manage to parallel the themes of violence and protection that Sai and Jet believe in. But nothing in this episode gets any room to breathe and develop. And your point about Teo is exactly what has been bothering me about his character. It is so out of left field, and nothing comes of this character change. I liked Teo as a kind boy who understands Aang's loss. Honestly I would have liked more of it, especially in a "mature" show. What does it mean to damage the culture of a deceased people for the sake of survival? Etc. Even in their introduction, Teo and Aang don't do anything more than "You can fly! But you're no airbender". Aang what does this mean for you??? Act sad. Talk with Katara. Come to terms with the loss and appreciate that someone has the spirit of an airbender. So I was pretty shocked when they made Teo ultraviolent instead. But then I thought, what if Teo gets involved with Jet? Jet would love to manipulate Teo to get more information on his father, maybe even kidnap/threaten Teo to get his way. Maybe Katara is the one to introduce Teo to Jet, and Sokka has to defend the mechanist as the pragmatic one (provided that Sai's alliance with the Fire Nation is easier to defend). I think Jet has to use Katara for something nefarious without her knowing. It is what makes the betrayal sting and why she hates him so much later on. Maybe Jet's terrorist attacks harm civilians, but he doesn't care because he wants the fire nation out at all costs. Whereas Teo, Aang and Katara care a lot about civilians. There could be a rift between Teo and Aang in their understanding of violence as Teo gets more involved with Jet. Or Teo manages to convince Aang that violence is necessary for the greater good, only to fall flat when Jet turns out to be a horrible liar. I get that this isn't the most riveting or action filled plot, but it has themes and actually uses the side characters to bring out different traits of the main cast. You don't include Jet in the story because he is a tool you can use to make Omashu more serious, you include him because he has an effect on the main cast
Hey... Awesome video. I don't know if you also feel that way but I really came to realize something that bugged me with this show as well... is how bad the waterbending looks... Just this scene you showed with Katara 0:40 ... it really just looks like a cartoonishly blue blob of some liquid thats in zero gravity. Even the movie 15 years ago got this right. ruclips.net/video/YbXqjqxNtVg/видео.html The water in the movie looks so much more like real water (being transparent and all) and it feels sooo much heavier and just how you would expect dozens of liters of water to sound and feel like being pulled through the air. In this show its so detached from the movement of the character expecially in that beginning scene.
I’m glad somebody is doing a thorough analysis on each episode and calling like it is. Keep it going

@@dire213 Indeed, though I meant the weapon training specifically, her training with a sword, staff or glaive would make way more sense than a bow.

You'll get the review when you fix this d*am door.

I did NOT expect another episode that fast. Guess ill have to catch up with the last ones.

This series is able to explain the thing that I felt but not able to explain.
Why waste time watching this Garbage when we can go Enjoy the Original
I wasn't expecting a new Avatar 'tism upload. Thank you for the effort, Mr. On a Stick
I legitimately forgot that FSOAS Gaming was a secondary channel, and that this one existed

I'll take they are planning on giving Azula Zukos Redemption Arc for £100.

I was not feeling the actor that got for bumi. Jackie Chan was born for that role
happy appy review when
Not this Halloween :(
This whole episode felt like a rush job

What is wrong with you?! This account is dead, don't put him on steroids!
With each constant upload, FSoaS gains more and more power in order to finally create the Happy Appy review.
I’m not surprised if the first live adaptation wasn’t going to work what made you think this one was going to be any better
I had my notifications on but for some reason I didn't get notified......welp better 6 hours late than never!
Damn I didn't realize Danny Pudi was in this show.

Where’s part 9? 😭😭
Yo next video when?
They could have easily cut out jet and the mechanist I always disliked their plot line back in the cartoon
Bro still posting after 5 months
The show was okay not the best but a good watch
