The judge pointed out he showed no remorse. Honestly, 12 months is not long especially for a high ranking senior minster who should have known better and for obstructing justice which was dishonest . He is very lucky to have gotten his charges reduced and jailed for 12 months only. He will be out in no time. He will be fine.

When you hold such a senior position in the govt, and duly rewarded with a big pay package, he knows he has to meet a much higher bar than the average folk. When I read his comments about how much his family has gone through, he comes across as one who’s claiming victim, so despite him apologizing, I doubt he’s remorseful.

Who are you to decide 12 months is too harsh …being a senior minister he shld be punished more severely…5 yrs sounds more right to deter future similar corruptions. He knew that 12 mths is very lenient so he’s smart enuff not to appeal. If he appeal …he might end up with 5 yrs jail instead. He shld just close his FB page…kept his mouth shut …silently serve his jail term n fade away . Is he expecting to come back to politics or wat?

You say like its ok to do wrong things? Only after getting caught, then you feel sorry? If you illegally fish and never get caught, will you stop? Sooner or later, you will become more and more brazen, keep doing it, and want more and more. It's never enough. There's a saying: 若要人不知,除非己莫为. If you don't want others to know, then don't do it yourself. Let's ask this question: what if he is never caught? Do you think he will feel remorse and turn himself in? Give the CPIB evidence that he received gifts? NO. Even after getting caught, he said he's innocent and will prove his innocence. That means he doesn't think it's wrong and will keep doing it more and more. The worst crime is that you did something wrong and yet still think you're doing the right thing. People like him, with power and wealth, become purely greedy. He is a public servant. We're not talking about any Tom, Dick, or Harry; he is in the top 1% Been is paid with public funds. How dare he still want more? This is beyond normal self-righteousness. Even karma can't bear it and can't wait. Expose him faster. Nothing happens without a reason.

It usually started with a small gift casually accepted, perhaps some tickets, then the next time one became used to it and took bigger gifts etc. That's why the LKY's and PAP's policy of zero tolerance towards corruption is the foremost in the world and why Singapore became so advanced. Whether it is littering or using the toilet, let us do the right thing even if no one is watching.

    Dear Mr Loo,
I applaud you for making this video & sharing your perspective on this case. I have 3 comments to make:
    1) It's clear as day that Mr Iswaran is guilty in this case. What troubled me was that he didn't admit guilt initially & instead claimed trial. With good counsel, he eventually pleaded guilty & admitted he was wrong.
    2) To correct one's mistakes, one has to first accept that you're wrong. Otherwise, step one is impossible to realize.
    3) To err is human, to forgive divine.

Just cannot believe trying to glorify some one who had misplaced the trust of public n this office should be held in esteem. Don't understand why you still claimed n like throwing a challenge that we should not judge. In this secular world, it is too naive to even think about this. Why then we have the judicial system n law enforcement office. Don't preach gracefulness in this ISAWARAN case. Don't gaslight anyone with this post. Call spade a spade
Don't forget ISWARAN wanted to defend himself initially when 30 odd charges were raised by public prosecutor.
Don't try to cast a deflection or distraction here

    • @ZhiyingHarp
      @ZhiyingHarp 9 дней назад +8

gracefulness is from the perspective of our humanness. Judicial system is judicial system. We can accept that he did wrong under the judicial system, while recognising his humanness, like everyone else. We are all human and we all make mistakes. He shouldn't have made mistake, under the judicial law, but humans sometimes do. The judicial system judge, that's its job, ok. But as humans, we can still ahve compassion for Isawaran as a human being who is suffering for his mistake made. Mr Loo is not glorifying his mistake. Mr Loo is pointing out the humanness of his mistake. We can condemn the mistake while recognising his human fallibility. // i'm not a christian, but i understand the wisdom, of the Chrsitian parable, "Let those who do not sin, cast the first stone." It's a lesson about compassion. Condemn the mistake, but not the person.

His corruption and wrong doing would not have been criticized by so many people and so seriously if he were not Minister because if every public servant or minister does the same as what he did, Singapore will collapse, foreign investors will not come, our business environment would be different and every Singaporean will suffer. How do you think the Lum Chang bosses and staff will treat the low level staff of Govt officers who work under the umbrella of Ministry of Transport? They will be abused by the Lum Chang people. Lum Chang's behavior can be encapsulated by this Mandarin idiom 恃勢凌人 . That is what REALLY happens in real life. So don't be lulled by this "apology". Mr Loo, I think people are angry at this case is because they are outraged at the lifestyle that our MPs have (landed housing, chauffered transport, high-end dining and entertainment, etc. It also doesnt help that it came out that Mr I went by private plane to Doha to catch the quarterfinals in the World Cup featuring Measi and Ronaldo where many, even those who can afford the same can't get access to these "benefits". And worse, there is resentment to the airs some of these MPs have especially when they make statements in Parliament.

Mr Iswaran himself! It doesn't necessarily mean it is funded by taxpayers, he might have paid for the driver's salary himself. Who do you think drives that Toyota Alphard that drops him off at the courts?
I was merely making a point that many MPs are out of touch with the struggles of regular people because they live such different lifestyles and only comes once in a while to "visit" theor constituents and of course everytime GE rolls around.

It’s only human to err. Otherwise, we would have been saints already. When we do 100 rights, no one remembers. But when we do something wrong, no one forgets. That’s the nature of humans.
I have met a real enlightened spiritual master and this is what I experienced. When I did something wrong, he would always discreetly forgive me without anyone knowing. He would somehow knows what to say so that only he and me know what happened. From the spiritual level, He knew what I did even without seeing it happen. But when I did something right, even if it is something very small, he'd praised me in front of everyone. That was the power of divine magnitude.
So this is what I came to realise: The difference between the Divine and human is this: The Divine will always forgive us and give us plenty of chances to repent, His Patience is as vast as the universe. He knows that only with forgiveness, we will someday change for the better. Because He can see the potential in us much more than we can see it oursleves. God is always ready to use one good deed to repay 100 bad deeds. But as humans, being limited as we are, we tend to hold on to the wrongs more than the rights.
