Excellent video. Had been playing using ACBLjust play bridge. This has many more options. Your information was useful in my setting up the site. Great Job!
I really like your channel. I loved the BBO hand that you did poorly one time. It gives us hope that even an expert like you can mess up once in a while.
This is an extremely useful video for all new bbo players, and even for those who have played before, just learned something new myself. Well done, Peter
Love your videos Peter :) I have questions. I am a newbie to Bridge and also to BBO, which I am finding quite addictive. Please would you address these questions for me in a future video or direct me to one that does... What is a Kitizer? What are IMPs? Why do my partners in BBO invariably overbid? When I see their hands I think 'what did they bid that for, when they only have....etc.?' Twice now I have been removed from the table when I was playing ok. I have no idea why I was removed. No-one said they were going to take me off, I just was whipped off, leaving me feeling hurt and annoyed? How do I know how I'm doing? As a Newbie, I want to be able to see if I am improving or not. Is there some way of finding out what my performance is? Likewise, will my skill level increase as I get better and better? Is there a way of reporting to BBO when someone is being very rude? The other day, I was playing in a group of four and one of the players was suddenly very rude in the Chat. I won't repeat what he/she said, but it was worth reporting. It wasn't directed at me but I felt sorry for the person it was directed at. We are not all professionals on BBO. I can understand how the very good players get annoyed when Newbies are slow or make the wrong bid, but they have to understand that we are trying to learn Bridge and get some practice in as well. I would not dare to go to a real Bridge Club until I was of a reasonable standard. Please explain the vulnerability issue in more depth. I didn't understand that at all? I think that's enough for now. Thank you in anticipation...
Hi Peter, i just saw your video and you tell here that the use of BBO is free. Only if I want to start a play in robot wold they say my Saldo isn’t sufficient. I only can play solitaire- just play bridge. You only can see the finish play just after finishing, the cards are not saved. Also you can’t compare with other players. I live in the Netherlands , does that have something to do with it. I love your videos they are very helpful. Because of the lockdown I can’t visit classes so every explanation Is very welcome. Thank you for taking the effort to make the videos. Emilia
Hi Emilia, to see the replays of the cards while you play there is a history tab on the far right of the bbo screen which should allow you to review the hands.
@@BridgeWithPete hallo Peter, thanks for your answer. I am playing on an iPad and the Historie button doesn’t work there. But I discovered that under the claim button is an link to results. Hi, your videos are great, I’m going to work through them. I have a query - on the pc, how can I change picture cards in settings. I can do it fine on iPhone. Cheers lyv
on a pc on the far right of the screen is a vertical word saying account. Click that, then choose settings and under the playing tab is pictures of cards which you can select or deselect.
You can reserve seats for people. You can remove people. You can allow people to watch or not. You can set it to request permission to join the table. Not too many responsibilities. If you join a table with friends you can leave and someone else will become the host and rejoin. If it is with just random people you can just join and available table and you wont be host.
we enjoy our session, but would really like to discuss the hand we just played with the other 3 in our table...but the next game comes up so quickly and if we don't play the table is taken away by robots...please tell us how to pause for 2 minutes till the next game
Is there a way to see "history" when using an ipad to play? I can click on the tab on the bottom of my ipad screen, but I would like to see the history while I am playing like people can do when they are using a laptop. Help....quick!
IMPs can be scored with just one set of opponents or with everyone playing it. The way BBO is set up unless you organise a team game it will be scored with everyone else that plays the hand.
what I would recommend is clicking robot world and then start a table with three robots. Once there click on the robot opposite you and reserve your partners name and they will come in.
They have currently paused the weekly free instant tournament due to so many people playing the servers are struggling. Hopefully it will come back in the future.
Just curious, Peter... how did you come up with "sliynk" for a User name? It looks like you just typed random letters on the keyboard and went with that.
Hi, How do you change to masterpoints instead of imps when you are host on a casual table not pre-arranged? How do you get the hand records when playing in a tourney so you can print the full record.?

I have just registered with BBO and used a couple of youtube websites to help me set up but prior to playing with friends I would like to practice bidding and playing so that I am comfortable with the site - can you tell me how I do this?
There is a section called practice. Where you can set up a practice bidding or practice table. You will need to put in robots if you don't want to play with people. I am not sure if that will cost money or not though.
They would usually trump winners when it makes no actual difference, just unusual play. Everyone overbids sometimes but it is useful to check the description of your bid and sometimes it will have an excessive description of total points.
If you have connectivity issues you may need to go back to the website. That is what I mean by log back in. Where you use your username and password to go back to the website.
you should just need to log bag in and be brought back to your table if it was in a tournament. If it was just a casual game when you log bag in you want to private message someone who was at the table to reserve the seat back for you.
Play a multiple of four deals using “total points” - that’s basically Chicago scoring. :) Play eight deals if you want a fairer comparison. Eight deals takes an hour at the very most, and is probably a good length for a casual game.
When describing the "Play or watch bridge" and "Featured areas" sections on the main screen, it would be nice to describe what the difference between them all is rather than just saying "click solitaire for solitaire". I guessed that, but what IS "solitaire"? How does it differ from other options?

you would need to send a message to a player still at the table to reserve a seat for you. The host of the table can do that by clicking table options in the three blue lines and then there is a spot to reserves spots for players.
peter - imo the card dealing algorithm on bbo ' just play 4 ' option is an absolute joke. for example i have played maybe 2000 - 3000 hands and playing south have maybe had 100 x 2club strong opener.n/e/w have never had one ! also playing South when North opens i always have a reply. never in say 300 times when north opens do I have a hand that just demands a pass. now I understand that bbo wants the players to improve but this is so far from normal card distribution as to be ludicrous.just my opinion.
It sounds like you are playing a best hand format where you are always dealt the most or equal most amount of high card points. There are other tournaments where the hands are just random.
