If the couple is retired and home all the time I think it's better to use the older manual thermostat. Newer isn't always better, and sometimes more confusing
When I had new system installed they put in a fancy thermostat. The battery cover started popping open and this thing would default to some weird configuration. I'd come home and house would be cold. Finally get it set correctly then next day battery door would be open and have to start over. Pissed off, I ordered a simple on/off, auto/on fan, cool/heat from amazon and put it in. Simple Stupid just like I like. Thanks for video Steven!
I need to capture the doozie conversations I have with people in my own videos. Residents will swear up & down they didn't put in their filter backwards. 👍😂👍 Great video Steve!
Awesome job Steve and yes a lot of people would be try to sell her something that she didn't need I like how you're honest...... very few of you anymore... keep up the good work. I see the baby dog is working again y'all....
On my programmable "T" stat if there is a program the hold button only holds until the next cycle. Then the setting goes to the temp that the program has at that time. In other words, the program overrides the hold button. I have a Honeywell.
I agree Steve, especially with seniors...my mother could not operate her electronic thermostat, no matter how many times I showed her. I think a lot of seniors would be better off with a standard thermostat...glad you helped her out. Without a doubt, some people would rip her off in a heartbeat...
The older people need a dial type thermostate to keep from getting confused. I don't like those programmable thermostats. Set it to one temperature and just leave it.
In these situations it's best to tell a small fib. You say something like ma'am these thermostats have been known to have issues and it's faulty. I recommended it be replaced with this very reliable thermostat that I use on all my new installs.
I like the T-4 . It can be set up for 7 days 5-2 day or nonprogrammable. Old snowbirds love it because they go south in the winter and who programs their AC when you are home all day.
Steve elderly people shouldn't have programmable thermostats cuz they just can't figure it out. My old man is the same way he can't figure it out I have to fix it for him all the time. Peace brother and Molly
This where i like the Pro T701 T-stats. Super simple non-programmable. Great for older people or people who just want simple. Large LCD and bright backlight.
I love when you're standing right there at the outdoor unit and the condensate pump cycles and shoots the water right down your shoe 😂😂😂 or straight into your tool bag 😒😒😒
Had the sorta the same problem with a job we did but the thermostat kept going in heat mode the last didn't understand the thermostat I put her a easier one I'm not set back
In the UK we have a new'ish regulation that says we have to have 'Smart/intelligent' thermostats fitted on new boiler/heating systems. My mother is in her late 80's and couldn't get to grips with the over complex 'stat thats been fitted. The installer can't and won't fit a simple controller as its 'against the law'... What a croc of sh*t that you can't fit a simple unit.!!!
So what is to stop you from changing it yourself to an acceptable model, and retain the 'complex' tstat to swap back in if/when it becomes necessary in the future? After all, a tstat is a generic user-Interface not a safety device.
@@dwight.bennett I have changed it for her as its just a glorified switch, but a registered installer can't/won't do it even though its what she wanted from new!
Steve, couldn't help the violation of ring tone law. That is an old retired ring you are using from the sixties, its against copyright to have it ringing today! lol
yes i have been getting my videos flagged for copyright with i phone ringtones it came with . flipping nuts .thats why i have no music on my videos . so far old ring not a problem
Wow. I really think she needs assisted living. She thinks the AC isn't working. Doesn't know how to change thermostat to cold. Thinks it isn't working when she has the windows open.
@@stevenlavimoniere Well your video was 10 mins long so you were there at least that long and probably longer and the temperature did not go down in that time. That is not normal, mine will drop a few degrees in a matter of 5 mins or less
Oh Lord have mercy. Take that thing off and put one of those round dark gold color Honeywell thermostats in that have worked for 60 years. I hate programmable thermostats. KISS model is best. Keep it simple stupid.

I had one once when a homeowner installed a new filter and left the plastic on it.

This thermostat is simple as it gets this lady has a problem and thinks she knows better. See the attitude she gave Steve with the filter?
Maybe whoever was trying to set it couldn't concentrate cause she was yapping at him the whole time ... Lol ... Good vid Stevie Boy ...

I have found that some people should not own programmable thermostats.
The truth pickle Rick !
Count me as one. I think they're unless. As long as I can find the hold button, I'm good.
Molly kept hearing hold thermostat
to set temperture. Hold Thermostat. Molly said Pops Im going to hold the Fort. Meet ya at

Got to love the older people that get hung up on stupid things. Learn your system. Learn your thermostats!

I’ve had a woman customer actually poke fun at her husband for putting the filter in backwards😂
Nice
that lady seemed very argumentative.
If only people knew what ‘hold’ meant on their thermostats. So many issues could be avoided. Nobody will admit they don’t know how to use their stat.
Wow. I really think she needs assisted living. She thinks the AC isn't working. Doesn't know how to change thermostat to cold. Thinks it isn't working when she has the windows open.
Son in law is a dope. I would’ve put a non programmable one in for free just so she would shut up and stop calling.
wow i was screaming at the dame screen at her
Nothing like the customer telling the service guy how to do his job
Swap it with a non programmable they gonna be calling back
If all your customers get that kind of service, then they are in good hands.
In her defense the temperature was rising and not going down, it was 79 for most of the video and then just before you left it was up to 80?
i just changed the batterys on t stat ,,, and my hands are 98.1 degrees F batterys were in a hot truck also .
