Man, I love RUclips. Been putting up with this problem for a couple of years (with exactly the same bike). Just done everything you said mate and it worked first time! Cheers pal.
Great vid, was having same problem with the neutral light, tried to clean it as well still not working, replaced the switch still nothing, checked wire harness connection behind instrument cluster and saw that it was coming loose probably do to vibration, reattached it and all is well. Just an FYI if cleaning does nothing check the connection next before buying new switch and save some $. I wish I would have!
HI Jonny Lee :) Thank you very much for this tutorial!.. It has put my mind at ease knowing that this is a common fault. I have only had the bike 3 weeks and this neutral light problem popped up. At least I know it's not a big job. Thanks, John from Sunny Donny :)
I just bought one of these bikes. This video was part of my pre-purchase research. The Bandit is a nice bike, in general. The position of that switch, being so close to the chain, is a design flaw.
Hi. Cleaning help for little time. Best thing is hit that middle copper tap carefully wider when you push that plastic down and then there is no more loose gap. Connectors can touch better again. No need to buy new switch. Be carefully when you hit that copper tap!
Greeting! It also has a problem with the neutral indicator. I disassembled the indicator and cleaned it. It worked for a moment, however, I see oil leaking in that part. I assume that this is not normal and by the time the oil gets between the electrical contacts, it stops working. Can you help? Thank you in advance and best regards from Croatia.
Just so there is no misunderstanding. When the indicator is mounted, there is no oil leakage, however, I can see that the contacts from the indicator are bathed in oil. It's normal?
My DL650 suddenly lost neutral light would it be worth giving it a shot and do what you did yes I do realise things might be different in their but the same principle maybe please advise
@@JonnyLeeguitarist I should have read reviews on that the bike shop got my front lights working, but in doing so they lost the neutral light, but they say it must have been like that before but it wasn't, im not happy as it was not cheap they have taken no responsibility for the damage they have caused, yes it's only a neutral light but it did work before. They touched it and I was $450 Australian dollars better off. Grrrr
@@JonnyLeeguitarist they now going to fix it ,Thursday otherwise it's wire cutting time.P's I like your big Kawasaki totally understand the back problem. with the sports bikes I have the same problem that's why I bought the V-Strom💯👍
Probably check the kickstand switch . It’s a small piece of plastic that pushes in when the stand is up . Spray it with WD40 to see if it releases , they can get full of dirt aswell .
@@JonnyLeeguitaristit's way easier on the 1200....no cover to remove, it's in plain sight near the slave cylinder.....one 4mm Allen head bolt and it's just a hall sensor ...clean it up and reinstall it....20sec job, just did my 05 yesterday.

You will have to replace the switch , the seal sounds like it’s failed .
Just so there is no misunderstanding. When the indicator is mounted, there is no oil leakage, however, I can see that the contacts from the indicator are bathed in oil. It's normal?

No , there shouldn’t be oil there . Something is definitely leaking .

I would think it’s worth checking if it’s the same switch to clean , if you can see it then definitely do it .

I have been doing the change down from second and roll a few feet trick for ages to get it to work i might try this.

Did mine last year on my 1250 and it's been fine since. My mates wants his doing now. Yes it's a common fault.
Just did my mates, 15/20 min job.
Suzuki should have put the switch on the other side on the engine, get it away from the chain oil and associated fluids.
As soon as i put my kickstand out my neutral light comes on and stays on if i put my stand away until i switch off the electrics… any idea on cause?

Great information
Thanks buddy
Hi,make a video of how the arcs are attached.

Is the switch located the same place on the mk2 1200 bandit?
Same side yes .

I'm looking at buying a 1250S and currently doing a marathon of videos on the bike.
Get one and i promise you’ll love it .
Did not work at the first try. I had to scratch of dirt from the contacts, and now it works sometimes.
Yeah the build up can be bad in extreme cases, if it doesn’t work after this , then a new switch is in order .
Cheers 👌
No problem
Didn't work for me but a new part did. The switch was just too old or worn out!
That’s a shame mate .
