Part of their job is to be prepared and have plans and budgets in place that help them respond to last minute disasters. This isn’t even a last minute disaster . They knew this was coming and chose not to take it seriously. I’m new to Houston and truly shocked to see how they responded with their tracking services and their power service. Truly the executives should be ashamed of themselves. We are truly over paying on our bills if they can’t even respond with answers like giving an actual update on when certain areas are going to get power. Which means they haven’t even assessed the damage which it’s been days and if they haven’t even haven’t assessed these issues indicates that they were not prepared.
Power isn't a "wave your magic wand" thing. There was a flood. Every house that had water inside gets tagged and has to be reinspected. If there is damage, the wallboard has to be removed and the wiring redone. This is excruciating slow, as we found out in Florida. However. we love our linemen! As we were evacuating north, the south bound lanes of the freeway were all line trucks heading south, into the storm. Now be quiet and wait.

Nope, the only job in the world where you can be 99.999999% wrong and still keep your job… They’ve all been completely wrong on every major storm that has hit houston since Allison… Anyone remember Harvey and what they forecasted? 15-21” of rain, until someone on social media came out a day before the storm and said, no it’s more like 51” and then that person was threatened with criminal charges and civil lawsuits. Then after the event all these reporters started calling it the 500 year event and patted themselves on the back as if they predicted some ancient prophecy… Time to find a new source of information folks.

@@alwayzAngry No, it was supposed to hit Mexico, then it was supposed to hit between Corpus and Brownsville. The Eye was NEVER "forecast" to hit Houston dead on until almost day of. Always? Nope.
The power in my apartment is out but the gas station and street lights right beside it the power is on Houston has its priorities messed up .
Today 7/10 nearly all of polk county north of Houston 70 miles still without power. I think they're getting houston power first. Same percentage out here since Monday morning
Might be time to move out of this area
One reason is because people don't turn off unnecessary lights or electronics. Two of my neighbors had outside lights on during the hurricane. Why? No one is outside your house in a hurricane. I can only imagine what they had going on inside the house. Turn off everything you don't need and turn up your thermostat during storms. Please help one another.
STFU idiot! I see you’re on here trolling people with stupid rhetoric. You make zero sense. If you have nothing intelligent or encouraging to say, say nothing.
Centerpoint energy is a joke. They weren’t prepared for this storm at all. They had days notice.
Texas are you ready for FIFA 2026 !!!
😂😂😂😂😅
The future is Electric 😂
Power isn't a "wave your magic wand" thing. There was a flood. Every house that had water inside gets tagged and has to be reinspected. If there is damage, the wallboard has to be removed and the wiring redone. This is excruciating slow, as we found out in Florida. However. we love our linemen! As we were evacuating north, the south bound lanes of the freeway were all line trucks heading south, into the storm. Now be quiet and wait.
Keep excusing the lack of preparation for these occurrences ..... ! Can't fly that problem to a blue 💙 state ! Great job ...blame your ignorance for voting in Ted Cruz and governor Abbott 🙄 ! Do better
Bunch of complainers, people working in this heat to get the power restored while you sit on your behind with a little bit of heat. Grow up and have a backup plan.
could say the same to these companies .. i dont even see them in my area anywhere at all.
get off their dicks.
I agree. Be ready and don't wait for this bs.
Only a motherfucker not affected by this would call people complainers. Not like centerpoint was warned ahead of time about hurricane beryl/s
Everyone in Houston should invest in a generator now...
You got some never! They are incompetent so they should work in the heat just like my food spoiling!
Praying 🙏 soon
Why don’t you use a underground grid. I had to sleep in my car for three days! I heard transformers blow out early doing the storms.
Abbott should resign....he can't keep lights on for Texans

Power outages after hurricanes are not uniquely a Texan or American problem. Every country that experiences hurricanes also have power outages. "Can't even keep lights on" sounds like something only entitled Europeans say.
Man I'm looking at power trucks pass through my neighborhood. I have seen at least 50 trucks. In my neiborhood and no power. They are just standing doing nothing.
Centerpoint owes everyone a generator.
Deregulation is just a way for politicians to get more "donations". Let's hope Abbott and his colleagues keep focusing on how to control women
And you've got kids from across the state in Houston this week for the FFA Convention!
They lied to us
Good Ol' Texas Self Reliance. Lol. Mexico is sending its lineman and water to Houston now.
Great. Hopefully they bring some food and mamacitas with them.😂😂😂
OK, there's a pile of sparking wires over there, and you don't know where each one goes. Now what?
No power/Internet almost 2 days in Sugar Land /Houston 😭
Why are people from other places so enamored with Houston? I will never understand it. We ALWAYS have weather issues.
People just need something to bitch about.
The area where the hurricane hit has about 10,000,000 in population. 1,500,000 without power is 15%, which is not bad, really.
People aren't "Enamored" with Houston but more like wondering how does America's 4th. Largest city falls apart with a weak Tropical Storm.
This is completely on every news channel weather forecaster, who sat there on tv and told the viewers up to the very last minute, the storm is going to north Mexico, won’t affect us..
The storm is going to Brownsville, not to worry..
The storm is going to corpus, we might get a little rain, and at no point, did any of them acknowledge the potential that it could turn and come directly to houston, as in most cases, storms do…
So all of our lineman and resources went south and staged there… until the very last minute the damn weather people finally acknowledged houston would take a direct hit.
… and will any of these professionals be held accountable?
Nope, the only job in the world where you can be 99.999999% wrong and still keep your job…
They’ve all been completely wrong on every major storm that has hit houston since Allison…
Anyone remember Harvey and what they forecasted? 15-21” of rain, until someone on social media came out a day before the storm and said, no it’s more like 51” and then that person was threatened with criminal charges and civil lawsuits.
Then after the event all these reporters started calling it the 500 year event and patted themselves on the back as if they predicted some ancient prophecy…
Time to find a new source of information folks.
Look at the power grid. When they got Reid of coal and rely on all this green, that’s a big problem

Do you mean 311? FEMA only helps after a disaster declaration is filed by the president, and it is not possible for you to not have power if your neighbors do. You're on the same transformer. Maybe your breaker box is out, or you're a bot?
