We also have a blacksmith friend who would set up there and he made us our own tomahawks ❤. Treasured moments indeed. My sons learned to throw the tomahawk and my eldest son especially was very very good at it.

His friend couldn’t stick the tomahawk to save his life and he was so ticked that my husband (of German descent) nailed every single one. LOL we shouldn’t have laughed, but it was so funny! I bought one of those cheap Amazon. It had a beard on the heel and toe - not exactly the design of an Indian tomyhawk. Neither myself or a friend were able to get it to stick in the target. It would hit on the head one time and the handle the next. I checked the balance and it was heavy towards the head. An axe should balance one inch from the head but this tomyhawk fell to the head side even on two fingers. I did not like the beards, so I cut them off, today, with my angle grinder and filed the area smooth. It now balances on one finger one inch from the head. I have not tried to stick it in a target, yet, but it should stick just fine. At least, it looks like an Indian tomyhawk, now, and not a short Viking axe.
