The lower FPS actually does SO SO much in animation. A lot of modern series tend to have hyper fluid characters and it just feels extremely wrong when you grew up with the originals...

YES, THANK U, I hate animation at 60fps 💀 animation should be at about 30fps, that’s the golden approach imo, a lot of animation nowadays is so fluid and with the integration of 3d and everything it feels very uncanny to me. Animation should not be at the same pace as "our" time. Lower fps make for certain moments to be more emotional and funny, and even more scary, it depends how you apply it, but the main thing that I dislike in anime is when they incorporate 3d and it’s very obvious cause it’s too fluid, too fast for me, it turns me off from watching that anime so bad

I said that on LS Mark's video, and I'll say it again - switching kids should've been a gimmick from the beginning. A couple seasons with one kid, switch. This way the show could've stayed fresh. Though Timmy was a great protagonist, not gonna lie.
Or at least in the last Season, instead of us getting stuck with Chloe we could have had a rotating cast of new children while Timmy lurks in the background

The protagonist goes through hell constantly in his life, and his fairy godparents help him go through it. It also has a multitude of stereotypes. Characters will become more unbearable when they’re flanderized.

This show feels too good.... even for Nickelodeon...But I'm so glad this series has people that are far more competent people than the fairly odder people....and even 2010s Butch Hartman.
yh i still think the show will fail it's alright quite mid atm not good imho but around a 5/10 from me but as someone who saw ppl saying the rugrats 2021 reboot being good and then seeing how that failed can see this one going through the same thing
Butch Hartman is an absolute a**hole and the OG show was filled with so many triggering things. I don't think it deserved a reboot but at least I don't despise the reboot as much as the original

partially because butch isnt writing it, and partially because the people who ARE writing it are the writing team of Infinity Train (GOATed show) and Craig of the Creek

I can honestly respect that.
You could really argue that Butch Hartman was never that talented and was always carried by those around him. FOP and Danny Phantom both fell off super hard once Steve Marmel left full creative control to Butch, and once Stephen Silver stopped designing his characters his “art style” fell off too. Glad to see he’s not too involved with A New Wish, it does genuinely seem good for what it is and I hope the new generation enjoys it… until Paramount Plus cancels it in a year and removes it from their service lol.

To be honest, I really love this art style where it is CG but the characters always have 2D faces like in Super Mario bros Wonder.
Especially since it took Nickelodeon 20+ years to realize that FOP character do **not** work in 3D.

Thats what I thought...I seen alot of youtubers just hating on the show instantly when the trailer dropped...Mostly because Timmy wasn't the main character and because the new person was Black and a girl....But I watched a few of the episodes and I like it too...Its not better than the old show ( Before the most recent seasons ) but it still holds it ground and has some clever jokes...

This reminds me of ROTTMNT's fate. Everyone was judging that they and April black, that the turtles seemed to be stupider and magic was involved while splinter became a little, lazy, rat gremlin, but many people didn't even give it a chance.
It had amazing character development and unique ideas, and it was unfortunate that season 2 was rushed and didn't give it the proper ending it should have gotten. It tried to make something new out of something old like all its predecessors did beforehand, and people only began to regret it when they saw the movie on netflix.
Not to mention Mutant Mayham, the reboot after that was also judged for having a black April, too.
People really should wait until the first episodes come out to judge. Not all shows started off with a bang. Characters need to be developed, and if we never gave them a chance, we would never have the iconic characters we see today... It is truly a shame...
It's pretty weird how people were so quick to jump on the hate train with Rise April and FOP Hazel. I mean sure, April was never black before Rise, but she wasn't a teenager before 2012 either lol. It's a different version of the character, nothing wrong with having a new take on them. And with Hazel it's even worse, since Hazel is explicitly supposed to be her own character, not even a reincarnation of Timmy. Why is her being black controversial?
Or don't change legacy characters just for the sake of forced inclusivity and diversity. People had absolutely every right to hate Myutant Mayhem's design of April, because you had a beautiful character and intentionally made her ugly and race swapped her on top that, tokenized for the sake of woke agenda.

She used to be a mixed-race woman, then she became white, then she became a ginger, then black. She has been an adult, a teen, an alien. Atleast rise and Mutant mayhem tried to make her into a unique character. I honestly like Rise April more than 2012 April because there is no romance B.S, and she just acts like one of the siblings. I haven't seen Mutant mayhem but it obviously isn't as bad as you think if I literally see merch EVERYWHERE.
Tmnt originally was a superhero joke comic! But things change and atleast they give us new interpretations every time! Not unlike Disney's remakes, which are basically just unwanted pandering and slight script changes!

I almost wanted to say "shows or movies with the word 'wish' in it always ended up having groundbreaking half 2D-3D and good script" until I remember Disney's Wish
Due to it being the first season and being CGI, its going to be rough around the edges nor go extreme with its premise yet, kind of reminds who I felt during when the first season of Total Drama Reboot came one, only to become a lot more well liked once the second season smooth out all the edges so hopefully with this clearly passionate team they came at least bring the fairly oddparents back to what it was before it got worse.
Yeah I hate the CGI route that US seems to hang onto. The peanuts was tolerable but this is distracting for me like blue eyed samurai distracting.
7:48 I think in this show they actually feel like husband and wife because in one scene they were holding hands and in a few scenes Wanda seems almost just as stupid as he is and they're never arguing with each other they're never insulting each other and in one scene Wanda called him "Sweety" that was sweet.
A lot of folks are blasting it over it not doing certain ideas/wishes, or being too "safe," but this is a sequel and that stuff was already covered with the original series. As versed animation nerds know, treading old ground is almost always way worse, unless the whole point is to subvert the original source material.
This show probably isn't going to last as long as the original, anywat, and I think the showrunners know that. It would be a waste of time to just focus on establishing a likeness to the original, just to then try to change at the last minute. This is a new show for new kids, not a revisit of an old IP like the Hey Arnold or Rocco movies.
Anyway, Timmy was an EXTREME outlier- we're actually seeing a much more normal Fairy Godparent scenario. One that could actually even happen to much of the target demo, even.
Kid has a rough patch in life, Fairies make it better, relieving psychological strain, before the kid is happy enough to not need them, or messes up and reveals them. (which is established to happen pretty quickly in most cases)
Things probably should be a bit softer and simple because not all kids need to be horribly traumatized to have fairies. We're post-cringe, so returning Fairies to a fairytale status seems as appropriate as letting Cosmo and Wanda be decently competent and in love again. And it sells the fantasy pf getting fairies to ALL kids, not just abused children.
And most interesting, I think we could actually see an ending here where she gives up her Fairies to the next needy kid, if Nick would have the decency to give em a head's up about cancellation. This could be the REAL lifespan of a Godparent relationship, when you don't have a Timmy-level godkid.
The entire show concept has legs, and would actually thrive independently of specific characters and tone if they let it.
Heck, they could even use a different Godparent/Godparents and give Cosmo and Wanda a promotion so they can show up on occasion.
I would be ok if FoP ran forever, so long as the kids and show got shaken up every series like this.
Cartoonshi mentioning Oaxis made me have a "Oh shit...." moment as I totally forgot it existed. I'm glad it seemingly crashed and burned,after the scummy tactics Butch pulled on that front
Knowing how people tend to be when they hate on something before it comes out, some will immediately change their minds, but others are still gonna be stubborn and hate on it regardless of quality. Especially those that for some reason were upset about the new kid… either cuz it’s not Timmy or…

I hope in the future we'll get a Pg-13 version of this show. Where the fairies are now able to be the godparents of teenagers (13-18). Specifically teenagers that are EXTREMELY depressed and lonely. I'm talking teens with worse lives than Timmy.
Having the fairies not just grant the teenagers wishes that they'll learn from. But more on guiding them down a clear path in what they want to do in their lives.
idk if Nickelodeon would ever risk associating one of their top franchises with something as mature as that but you sound like a creative person, fanfics are a great way to gain recognition as a writer

It’s actually ok. Hazel is a little less of a trouble maker than Timmy but she’s fine, cosmo and Wanda seem equally a bit goofy like in the earlier seasons instead of Wanda being the nag to cosmo’s stupid. The animation reminds me of the blue sky peanuts movie with the mix of 2D and 3D and still walking like flat cartoon characters. The episodes so far aren’t as funny as the original series better episodes but they’re fun enough I’m curious to see more.

Also, Stephen Silver created the character designs and iconic art style and unlike Butch he's the humblest guy around and always seeks to help out other artists. I can confirm he even writes back if you ask him for art advise.
Steve Marmel was the reason Butch's shows used to be so good. He had a ton of creative differences with Butch and eventually left, which pretty accurately coincides with when Danny Phantom started going downhill

I think they're ignoring that Era of FOP for obvious reasons.
The creators have said he's ok, he's like a teenager now and will be back soon but for now they're not using him because the fans didn't like him that much so they wanna be extra careful.

I was cautiously optimistic when news about this show came out, and I'm glad I came out of it pleasantly surprised a bit. I do think it just needs a few touch ups for it to really be on par with the best of the OG show, but not bad of a first impression.
This had actually aired 2 weeks after the 20th anniversary of Jimmy Timmy Power Hour. I can honestly say that a new wish is far better than fairly odder and seasons 9 and 10 of the original. I even heard from Netflix that they are renewing the show for a 2nd season probably due to a contract deal since Nickelodeon wanted it to premiere on Netflix then removing it to be on the main network.

Honestly I love New wish since Timmy was a terrible god child which is also backed by the fact TIMMY was greedy! He would never try to change his life, and even wished for him to be a child for over 50 years and made cosmo forget! Now Hazel actually tries to help her friends and enjoy her childhood.

Okay, that bit about the terrible live action move being the last thing some poor, lonely woman ever saw hit me right in the feels and now my evening is ruined.

While I like the reboot, I do have a few problems. Granted, this is from the first 5 episodes, so this might not age well, but still I wanted to say a give my 2 cents
In the OG, there was a certain structure to the episodes: Timmy has problem - Timmy wishes for something to get rid of the problem - Things go well - Things starts to go wrong - Timmy can't wish the previous wish away - Timmy get rid of the old wish by using some pre established things from earlier in the episode - Timmy learns its lesson
While it did not always work, expecially because a lot of the time the reasons for not solvving the problem with a simple wish was very flimsy and very clearly used to stretch the episode, I always thought it was a good structure, where Timmy needed to get involved directly and find creative ways to solve the problem, here it kinda just... works out. Like in the third episode, it seems the structure is the same, but then Hazel just wishes the problem away and everything is back to normal and there aren't lasting consequences. Like yeah, it makes sense, but it does make the episode a lot less exiting.
The 5th episode I thought was actually a pretty solid idea, analysing Hazel's fears with a villain she couldn't just deal with a wish, the problem, to me, is that there should have been more of a "show don't tell" approach. Like the entire climax of that episode is just one character exposing Hazel's problem and she being "ok, I won't" and everything is solved. Again, not very exiting. compared to the OGs, were often time the climaxes were pretty dynamic for what they were (at least in the early seasons)
problem is with this show is that if it went with the original og structure you'll get a lot of ppl like myself saying "hey wait haven't i seen this before?" it will give too many comparisons to the og show tbh and i think this one wants to do something new now granted i acc still think the new thing its doing isn't that good anyways which is why overall i personally think this show is a 5/10 for me so far, idk but remakes in general never go good whatsoever in hollywood and in media these days they either be crap or if they're good they're like average at best that's the thing as well

The world is extremely cynical these days. I'm glad this show has a more lighthearted tone, there's too much negativity in this day and age.

I haven't watched this show, but I'd heard people talking shit about it when the leaks dropped. I knew _some_ people would automatically shit on it because "the protagonist is BLACK this show is WOKE and BAD" and not realize that a character (and show) can still be written well regardless of the main character's skin tone, but I was still expecting it to be bad because, well, 2024 fairly odd parents. When I saw this video I thought you would say it's oodles of garbage and call it day but suprisingly you had the exact same mindset as me, and I guess this will be the first nickelodeon show I've watched since spongebob went downhill.
I do agree with this video. I have never found a video about the Fairly OddParents that says exactly what I was thinking about the franchise that accurately. Also, is that gravity Falls music in the background? Nice.
A few personal thoughts on the show:
1. It looks animated by Kevin Temmer (commendation)
2. I'm glad to see the series try and shed it's old roots (Butch) and move on to new things with new characters
3. I'm a little worried because of just how long the original lasted we might have a Simpsons situation where it's impossible to create new situations because they literally did it before in the previous series.
Over all, a pleasant surprise and I hope this series is able to get passed the inherent stigmas against the previous poor outings of the franchise and reboots in general. Let's just hope budget doesn't become an issue like some of the creators are implying it will.
Alright, so, getting my two cents in: I love how unlike SquareBob Roundpants this show actually doesn’t outright ignore the seasons that haven’t pooped gold, but instead uses them for worldbuilding and little gags. Also, and this is just a me thing, the show is way funnier when viewed through out-of-context clips on Twitter.
2:30 ive said it before ill say it again, Butch is great at concepts, horrible at actually writing. Once he actually gets creative control he messes it up. But like before then, he does a good job.
I saw the CG and loved it immediately. Reminds me a lot of Kevin Tummer, which is high praise considering that guy is the god of turning 2D into 3D
Yea i have to admit a new wish is pretty decent. Not the best that the franchise has to offer but compared fairly odder good gosh is this an improvement. Hazel is a great protagonist and thank the lord cosmo and wanda are back on track being 2 halves of a whole idiot. Sucks people are writing this off. This is the true sequel to the fairly oddparents post channel chasers

6.3 out of 10? That's actually pretty high for a reboot and a show that came out right now. I wonder if it's bc they finally moved on from the story being Timmy-centric
So just finished watching the final episode of series 1 and...I gotta say I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this reboot. It was probably the most fun I've had watching any Fairly Oddparents content since Channel Chasers at the most.
Butch had no part in it? That explains why it was actually decent.
Remember how the fairly odd parents OG show, every human had no pupils (except Veronica), and every fairy HAD pupils (except jorgan), they should’ve kept that detail
Apparently all it takes to get uncalled for hate in a series is to have black characters. Gta6 trailer, assassin's creed, fairly odd parents. Not everyone complaining of course but a dissapointing amount.

I think the only issue with the new protagonist not being all too miserable is that the series absolutely hammered in the fact you HAD to be super miserable and down on your luck, that’s why characters like chester and tootie got cosmo and wanda for an episode over say AJ, not a series breaking issue and it’s conveyed a crap ton better than “fairly odder this was ever greenlit” but I can get why the various semi justified skeptics would balk at the notion
Although in the show’s defense: Focusing more on learning lessons for a character who doesn’t know any better is a decent tradeoff especially for this shows new tone
Tbh it shows the kid suffering better than Fairly Odder did. Unlike that show, Hazel shown genuine reliance on her older brother which does give her a more sympathetic light. It's not just "moving out is awkward" but rather going to a new place with someone she loves leaving her behind

When i heard that this show would be cg it put me off initially. But just the other day i saw a random clip of cosmo talking about how he cries watching ninja turtles online and was pleasantly surprised by how pretty it was. I genuinely love how they adapted the style of the original and the lighting in some scenes had me floored. If Glitch Techs and Rottmnt didn’t exist i’d be questioning how nickelodeon pulled off making something so competently animated
