- Emancipation Street Parade in Port of Spain Trinidad celebrating the end of slavery in 1838. It is wonderful to see so many persons dressed in various types of African clothes, to hear the drummers and witness the moko-jumbies.
#trinidad #trinidadandtobago #emancipation
As an African am definitely proud of my brethren in the Caribbean, beautiful people.
Thank you
Wow, awesome parade. I thought it was a festival in 🇬🇭 Ghana. The kente colors, the music, the dancing , the masquerades. 400 years of brutal history, did not obliterate our culture and spirit. Kudos 🇹🇹 Trinidad.
There are groups in Trinidad who work hard to keep the cultural links alive.
I got caught as also thinking it was in Ghana until heard the rhythm typical of Trinidad & Tobago, and look at the description.
@@pointboy12that's real talk 👍🏾💯
@@bagadare8876 Yes there are certain aspects that would be distinctly Trinidad and Tobago. Especially when they use iron as part of the rhythm.
Display like only my Trini Family can! 🇬🇩
Yes the outfits were definitely colorful
Proud ro be an Afro Trinbagonian

@@pointboy12 Absolutely, but it would of been nice too see the Unification and support amongst my Black People. Word & Heal.🙏🏿
@@TheShpmusic Port of Spain is now not the only place in Trinidad with Emancipation celebration. There were such celebrations in Sangre Grande, Point Fortin, Store Bay and other areas. So all the people will never be in Port of Spain.
@@pointboy12 it's sad too see what the country turned into. But what I can say is I appreciate your hard work ethic in bringing this video too light. Black against black crime needes to end. Your videos is a Testimony towards my black people. One love ❤ everytime ...

Yes it was.
Our brothers from trinidad practice African culture than we African. Shame.
Interesting 😅
I am glad you thought so.
The best for last
I am glad that you thought so.
12 mins wait for 14 mins of the = of a poor J'ouvert.
Slavery never ended anywhere, it simply changes its form.
26 mins would have been better spent on enlightening the emancipated on ....
The difference between freedom and Licentiousness.
Diligence, Courteous Behavior, good Mannera.
Respect and regard for others.
Virtues and Vices.
Civilized Vocals and enunciation .... .... ....
This comment is unnecessary. It represents the colonized mind. The enunciation of “civilized” rapist, murderers and thieves is not aspirational. Our liberation came from being able to communicate in covert ways that were not understood by massa. Perhaps you want to communicate with massa so you should go back to the plantation.

As your 1st sentence.

Man, not manicou.
Covert Communication keeps one static as manifested on the vid.
