  • Emancipation Street Parade in Port of Spain Trinidad celebrating the end of slavery in 1838. It is wonderful to see so many persons dressed in various types of African clothes, to hear the drummers and witness the moko-jumbies.

    Wow, awesome parade. I thought it was a festival in 🇬🇭 Ghana. The kente colors, the music, the dancing , the masquerades. 400 years of brutal history, did not obliterate our culture and spirit. Kudos 🇹🇹 Trinidad.

      I got caught as also thinking it was in Ghana until heard the rhythm typical of Trinidad & Tobago, and look at the description.

    12 mins wait for 14 mins of the = of a poor J'ouvert.
    Slavery never ended anywhere, it simply changes its form.
    26 mins would have been better spent on enlightening the emancipated on ....
    The difference between freedom and Licentiousness.
    Diligence, Courteous Behavior, good Mannera.
    Respect and regard for others.
    Virtues and Vices.
    Civilized Vocals and enunciation .... .... ....

    • @dspence1902
      @dspence1902 Год назад +4

      This comment is unnecessary. It represents the colonized mind. The enunciation of “civilized” rapist, murderers and thieves is not aspirational. Our liberation came from being able to communicate in covert ways that were not understood by massa. Perhaps you want to communicate with massa so you should go back to the plantation.
