    Annnndddd we are back! I hope yall enjoy our coverage of the momentous Battle of the Antietam! I know its been a long time since our last American Civil War Video but here we are! Once we are done with this, we are headed to the Western Theater, which we haven't seen since the Battle of Baton Rouge!
    Also Correction: When talking about the casualties, I somehow missed saying 1300 instead of 13000, my bad yall.

      @ConflictConquest1790 but give credit where it's due, Daniel Harvey Hill was responsible for giving Lee time to consolidate his army holding was it 3 or 4 gaps with his much smaller force, then Stuart at Boonsboro, and A.P.Hill force marching his men 17 miles instead of the shorter route ,but imagine that he did take the Route up 67 from Harper's ferry, he'd have hit Burnside in the rear possibly but either way ,Lee handles his army well against larger numbers and survives but yes little Mac totally could have crushed Lee, given Grant had been there, most definitely it would have ended Lee's army, Longstreet himself said he saw the end in sight that day and says much credit is due unto D.H H. For his job but wasn't. There's a rather disturbing but funny account that DHH was on his horse and Longstreet told him to move because of union artillery and said that next one is yours blowing off his horses 2 front legs as Longstreet and staff jokingly tell him to dismount in several ways laughingly

    • @galatian5
      @galatian5 2 месяца назад

      @@MikeVendemia-z8o They're actually finding new evidence of Union attrition rates. They now state the Union army was around 50,000 strong which is why you never saw a steamrolling effect that an 85,000 strong army would have done. Also the Confederates were claimed to have around 75,000 men at the start of the campaign as the Union had 85,000 estimated at the start. The battle was bloodier than we originally thought too as McClellan counted around 2700 dead Confederates as apposed to the previously thought number of 1600. It puts a new light on the battle itself.

      I think Halleck and Lincoln should have sent Burnside to the Atlanfic shore again with troops in North Carolina and Norfolk (Va) to fight with 2-3 corps in a new Atlantic Army. Hooker should have got the AoP. Butler got that role TOO LATE, one year before Burnside could have attracted troops from the Confederacy. Hooker army reforms were excellent.

And I also can’t wait to see the battle because during the fight at maryes heights the union Irish brigade would fight fellow Irishman who were in the ranks of the 24th Georgia infantry regiment of Cobbs brigade however I also can’t wait to see the battle because the battle of Fredericksburg was where the Irish brigade suffered their most devastating losses and what I mean by that is the Irish brigade brought 1,200 men into the battle but by the next morning only 280 men appeared under arms to represent the Irish brigade.

    I only recently found your channel so ive currently only watched till Shiloh so itll be a while before I catch up to this but one thing I wanted to say is when I tried to find civil war videos I was looking for videos just like yours but your videos don't pop up when you look up American Civil War videos I had to like search and hunt to find your series for me it wasnt even in the first page when I type in American Civil War documentaries maybe if you typed in a specific battle it would pop up better. But I just wanted to say the ACW at the start confused me slightly when I first glanced at it while scrolling throw it and I think that could also affect the algorithm not having the full "American Civil War" in the title. Idk I just wanted to say my opinion because I can see the immense dedication and research that's gone into it. Epic history recently re changed all their thumbnails and a lot of titles which re kicked them into the algorithm idk if you've thought of doing something similar but it might help, these videos just deserve to have a lot more views. Thank you for your work

I know key words and hashtags are huge for the algorithm some people even name the video file that they upload to RUclips a bunch of key words and because the algorithm will look at the file name to get more info ittl take that into account def look into it its basically free marketing also I loved the Texas Revolution video thank you for the hard work

    If Mcclellan actually focused his generals(Mansfield, Summer, Hooker) on the corn field and Sunken road then they could have completely defeated the Confederates. The problem with the battle overall has to be Burnsides failure to move up to take the bridge in the first place. Also Mcclellan failing to bring up reinforcements in the right area like the center or on the left to ford across the water to take the bridge long before AP Hill took the field.

    • @WarhawkYT
