The reason MILLIONS and MILLIONS of PEOPLE never get tired of watching the SOUND of MUSIC over and over again is simply because...they love the ON SCREEN chemistry between MARIA and the CAPTAIN. Meaning...JULIE ANDREWS and CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER performed their ROLES so convincingly and so effectively.
I've recently been watching the Sound of Music a lot...A LOT... and I am stunned by how beautiful the relationship between the captain and Maria was/is. Their love scene in the gazebo is one of the most romantic, intimate and beautiful ever filmed. When seeing Mr Plummer and Dame Julie together now it's super easy, and very pleasant, to imagine they are the captain and Maria. Happy together still, after all these years.

The movie came out on April 1st, 1965. My 8th birthday was the next day, so my mother kept me home from school and we went out to lunch and to see The Sound of Music oh, just the two of us. When it was over and we were leaving, I told my mother how much I loved it and wished I could see it again. She turned right around, bought two more tickets, and we did see it again. My father was German, and Christopher Plummer in this role always reminds me of him, similar height, hair, facial structure, and imperious nature..lol.

I was 7 so I've watched it in the 80's but I still think this was the Best film Hollywood has produced. I'm a Tolkien fan, Lord of The Rings and Hobbit, but still TSOM cannot be topped. Did you watch On Golden Pond? A live play with Julie and Chris in 2001 I think, it's on RUclips. Two best movies I had watched in my whole life were : The Ten Commandments and The Sound of Music. Went specially to Austria to climb the same mountain as Julie climbed and sang Climb Every Mountain! since I was in my 18. Chris not only handsome but a deep great CHARM in his eyes that will melt the heart of every girl. Miss these GOOD AND WONDERFUL movies... Blessings to both Chris and Julie... Love this video so much.. Imagine how sweet was their movie.. I did visit Salzburg and made many photos ..singing Do Re Mi in Marbella park, The cathedral in Mondzee, Helbrun etc.. Aahh.. Sound of music will never die..
