Spanish is my first language and it’s so rooted in myself, that it’s so hard to give it a break and sometimes I feel that in order to learn English better, you are obligated to cut down your dose of Spanish speaking that way English becomes more familiar. Lisa, you were the only English teacher who told us the truth about the difficulties we could have in becoming fluent in any language we want to learn. Most teachers, especially on You Tube, say that it is easy to learn a language, and even more: they promise that people can learn it in three months. I know it's impossible, even if you live in the United States. I have friends who have been living in Miami, NYC and other cities since the 80's and they don't know everything.
This kind of expressions has blown my mind 🤔🤔🤔 never I heard about some of them especially blood sweat and tears. Thanks a lot to you. I am learning English and I understand that we cannot translate. About twenty ago I tested google translation to translate this sentence, "screw up", to another language. I expected that would not work, I was right. If I try it again today, works. At that time google translate read the word "screw" as a fastening device. I am not a native English speaker, when I need to say something different, I google for: make sentences with the word, start from scratch, start from square one, etc. Very good lessons, I wish I knew them earlier.

English is my 2nd language and I wonder if most people start reverting back their original accent as they get older. In the context of the video: “I appreciate” has the same meaning as in French “j’apprécie”. As a francophone, I always hesitate to use words or phrases because I believe they don’t have the same meaning in English but now I can confirm it’s doable in many situations
