Stewart is a great host. It’s a short program crammed with reps who have their own agendas and Stewart is able to rapidly distill their takeaway points without letting it devolve into a sale’s pitch.
In all seriousness, they should. Although the biopic would be more focused on his co-host, Gary Kildall. A genius in the computer field who was destined to be as big as Bill Gates but would die a down and out alcoholic in a bar fight.
Things were so advanced in Y2K and had plenty of momentum. What happened? Now we’re just bumping specs slowly. Nothing revolutionary in years. Basic software is so buggy it can’t even accomplish basic jobs anymore.
Glad that I didn’t own a camcorder in 1999. In 2017, someone emailed me an NTSC camcorder clip from 1999. It was only 240 by 320 resolution....Crummy. Apparently, those old consumer-grade camcorders couldn’t even manage US standard resolution. I’m old enough to have owned the original Betacam botch job, which couldn’t even play back its own recordings.
lol that's on the person that emailed you a clip. When MiniDV came out in the late 90's, it was full SD: 720x480. If you received something lower, it was either an analogue capture or they compressed it.
It was TV, and TV time is very valuable and you better use it well. It wasn't his fault though, he just tried to cram as many things possible in 30 minutes.
Lol, because you got used to RUclips with unlimited airtime. Computer Chronicles was a TV program. The host has to cut-off the guest to cram the contents to the alloted TV time slot.
He is crammed for time and keeping things on track. Ironically about 8 or 9 years ago Stewart was interviewed about the show and he was cut off constantly by the interviewer. Some felt it was rude but that is how interviews work on a time budget. I am sure he understood.
It's always fun watching the first guests in a segment awkwardly trying to scamper off set while Stewart starts talking to the next guest...
HAHAHAHA, Exactly!!!
17:12 is especially awkward, lol!
@@sternkrieger1950 What was with the handshake lol
"Almost a high resolution print"
What a time to be alive! 😂
Fun drinking game: take a drink each time he cuts off the first guest and you'll be drunk before the segment is over.
he does that to everyone who wants to turn the demo into an infomercial
I love Stewart but I’d absolutely love it if someone yelled stfu lemme speak to him or something hahaha

Not sure this digital video thing will ever take off. Analog is the way to go.
Moral of this episode: video editing software is too complicated to demonstrate on this show
final cut pro oh the begining of Pramer Pro
That Canon XL1 was a game-changer at the time. Used by many in the prosumer market. Now sells for $200 or less.
Stewart Cheifet should be played in a biopic starring Kevin Spacey.

@@michaeltammaro9434 If Spacey is Cheifet, who would you cast as Kildall?
This segment shows as well as anything I've ever seen, how the Mac just works and Windows PCs require cards and extra stuff.
Back then the MacOS did not even have true multitasking.

I want that camera 4:04
I really wanted to see who actually broke that pot.
Let's go for rippled! Ripple the S!

It's too bad the host was always in such a hurry. He keeps interrupting his guests and it's really annoying.

The guests tend to be sales reps. Sales reps are trained to never stop talking until a sale is made.
a lot to put into a 30 minute show and didn't have the luxury of easily chopping up and cutting footage every week

hey stewart, shut up interrupting them.....
