Mayorkas words were twisted by certain news outlets. He said they had enough to make it through Helene, but they would need more money if another storm hit. This guy said at the beginning of this clip, congress got together and allocated more money to fema to get them through until mid December. I haven’t fact checked that, but it sounds like the obvious approach.

Well, I voted red twice and then Katrina happened. I remember very well Bush saying his hands were tied when we asked him to do more. I remember the people of Louisiana. I remember all the people stuck on the roof waiting to be rescued. I remember the bodies floating in the water. I remember all the people stuck at the stadium without help. I remember seeing the bodies in the streets outside the stadium because that was the only place they could put them. No one has more authority over the US armed military forces than the Commander-In-Chief. So, why did then president Trump blame a house speaker who had absolutely no authority to command nor deny the US National Guard. D.C. is not a state. So only the president has full command of the D.C. National and all US armed military forces. No thank you. I'm voting blue this time.
