- Delson Armstrong looks at the Buddhist Cosmology and does a thumbnail sketch of each of the 31 realms including all the lower realms and upper Brahmalokas.
A good reference book is Buddhist Cosmos by Ven. Punnadhammo
TWIM -Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation is based on the earliest Buddhist Suttas from the Majjhima Nikāya from the Pali Canon.

Superb. Satu, satu, satu 😁❤️🙏
Another magnificent talk
Insightful!
Another interesting interview and talk/information.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu
When he was talking about Creators, I thought, “Man I’d love to hear Delson’s thoughts on Jesus and Christianity”. Might not be appropriate venue I realize.
I totally agree. Would be super interesting but would likely incur a lot of negative, potentially hostile reaction. Might have to be a private zoom call.
He briefly touches on it on the "Guru Viking Podcast"
Sadhu,sadhu,sadhu💐💐💐
I would be interested to know of the Sutta that describes transfer of merit to another being. I understand that Kamma is ones own.
It’s a tough one for most of us to accept for the reason you stated but transference of merit is in the Suttas. 😁🙏
what interesting ideas! which sutta tells the talker that Bramah can hold universe in their palm like a fruit? Wasn‘t it the monk with eye-power or the Bramah can observe the world like observing a fruit in their palm?or you see this through your Samadhi?how interesting?
Delson says all creator gods are bhrama at 1st jnana. But in one of krishna leela , millions of bhrama from millions of different 31 planes of existence comes to pay respects to Krishna. Further Krishna says all 31 planes are subject to change. Ie one keeps roaming as per karma but his planet Divine Golok is beyond law of karma and once you there you never go back. You are liberated from samsara cycles and Golok is eternal planet unlike all these 31 planes of existence.
Keep in mind you are quoting the Hindu view of the world. The Buddha did not believe many of the brahman beliefs. He never talk about a Divine planet where you never come back. You always come back. You can stay in a heaven for awhile but when your Karma runs out you are going somewhere else.
@@DhammasukhaOrg i have high respect for buddha as i have experienced bhag state in vipassana courses of sn goenka. Similarly i have experienced glimpse of krishna's divine golok planet where everything is pure consciousness and it 1000 times more real then this world. So i have respect for hindu view as well. Hence i am trying to reconcile both views. With respect to non self, buddha view is close to hindu advaita view. Its fine that there is no individual soul. The only major difference is hindu eternal planes beyond bhramic planes vs buddha all non eternal planes.
🙏😇
So interesting!which sutra tell us that the second Jhana beings have sphere of light but others don't?
Very interesting discussion!
Is there a particular sutta where the 31 plains are described ?
there are so many interesting idea. Please inform us , who will take care of the beings of no conception in the fourth Jhana。 How they will be not ok? what kind of care do they need? which sutra or abhidamma claimed that they need help and care? Or you see them in your samadhi? and found that they need to be taken care?
Its documented in various sources. Check The Buddhist Cosmos by Punnadhammo - all this is in their with some of the sources.
@@davidjohnson8218 so Punnadhammo wrote the sutta or the abhidhamma? Why we should take his words as serious as the Sutta? Or maybe there are suttas that I have missed. If I have missed ,I will
be thrilled to learn because this is huge.
@@atontieren3897 Well- of course, he is just reporting what he has read from the suttas and commentaries. These ideas are pretty much accepted by most buddhist scholars. You will have to find out. Its all in that book and google can give you lots of links.
@@davidjohnson8218 I finished reading the part of asannasatta. didnt find anything about they are taken care of and what kind of care do they need. You can enlighten us?
@@davidjohnson8218 but an interesting book though. Thanks
32:44 - begins talks about deva realms (:
what interesting ideas! in the arupa Jhana there should be no verbalization. So how the being could have loop of saying I am nothing? Did you discovery from your samadhi that they are keeping saying I am nothing? or they are using some special language?
@DogMotive frankly speaking, I think you also dont know what you are talking about. Do you mean we first get into jhana of nothingness and come back to the first jhana and smile a bit and then go back to jhana of nothingness and then we can get ride of self? and do you understand that when you are smiling you are lower than the second jhana, when you are lower than the second jhana how can you return to jhana of nothingness?
@DogMotive any citta is knowing。Arupa jhana is called arupa jhana becaue they are knowing arupa object。But the idea of I am nothing is really bothering。verbalization is below the second jhana。 above their understanding of atman is also non verbal。should never be described as I am nothing
@DogMotive Hi the school of thoughts here, inlcuding delson, you and the Bante is actually misleading. Arahat doesnt have to go through arupa realm to attain arahatship. Most of them end their cycle at the base jhana. The liberation based on wisdom and vipassana. You , Delson and the Bante are talking about the cessation process of arahat of both liberation citta and wisdom. But It's so obviously your group lack of knowledge of vipassna in mental formation that you are taking your meditation experience as an interpretation of sutta. But according to my level, all of you haven't even started either increasing knowledge of citta or wisdom. My suggestion is telling others that you are not sure you are third or fourth fruit. Add maybe or according to your speculation, that you are interpreting the sutta based on your extremely limited meditation experience. Then it will be a benign discussion or searching for dharma. other wise by suggesting you guys are entering cessation and implying you guys are third or fourth fruit, you are committing serious dark karma. Let's enjoy the process of searching while keep a mild modest and avoid claiming to be the one with fruit.
So it looks like either Buddha didnt reveal the eternal planes. He revealed only the 31 planes which are non eternal ie subject to karma.
OR krishna the mainstream accepted God of 1.4 billion indians lied that his golok is eternal planet. To find the truth ,its difficult unless one has ability to roam across universe
When is the talk on Kamma?
everyday releasing more videos
@@davidjohnson8218 thanks
@@davidjohnson8218 I am waiting for the talk on Kamma too! Thanks a lot for doing these talks.
this depiction of hell sounds very infantile and grossly exaggerated.
