I like the sounds of Shona, I'd always travel with a notebook full of these phrases because they aren't so easy to remember! Zimbabwe is one of my dream destinations, lucky woman!
Always liked to learn some local phrases before travelling to another country. Wow some words sound pretty hard to pronounce! That's so cool you have a friend to teach you alongside :D
Thank you for putting it together: the most useful phrases, I always try to do it when I travel, it makes the locals smile :) I'd love to travel to Zimbabwe one day, I had some friends from there when I lived in London, they're so positive and warm!
Ndinotenda for the video. This may come handy..we're currently traveling in Central America but thinking of coming over to Africa at some point. Is Shona only spoken in Zimbabwe or any other countries?
Haha nice one. Shona is only spoken in Zimbabwe. Which countries are you planning on traveling? Be sure to also check out my Chichewa video for Malawi and my Xhosa video for South Africa :-)
Shona is Also Spoken in Mozambique but only by a few people. This is because the Mutapa (shona) empire stretched to the coast of the Indian ocean, the territory which is now in Mozambique. It's not very widely spoken but there are native speakers there.
Im not even Shona...but my Kikuyu tells me ,ndiri bho does not translate to "im cool"...it literally says..."im still there (like am still alive.. existing)..in kikuyu of kenya we say,...ndīri oho

I can totally agree. Most of my friends are from Zim and I love them :-)
This is a great learning experience :D - somewhat the sound level feels low :D but thanks for the subtitles on top, really helped
Without seeing the spelling I wouldn´t be able to pronounce it in the right way :-)

Not sure yet. We'll be in Central and South America until end of the year. Nothing set in stone for the next year. ;)
