Hi. Nova is very smart. As an educator and reading specialist, I want to let you know that sight words should not be sounded out. They are to be memorized and said on sight. High frequency words are best learned in context. Have her point the words out as you read her a story.

I’m a parent of a preschooler, I just finished reading a book on how to teach my kid how to read and you are absolutely correct. I read a lot to my daughter, the books we read over and over she has memorized the words. It blows my mind how many words she’s picked up just by me reading to her. Do you have any suggestions for an 11 year old and 13 year, all they read are comic books. My 11 year old and I read short articles in the morning before he catches the bus, he finds excitement in that.
@@tiffanyanthony7189 At 11 and 13, letting them read what is interesting to them is the best way. You can only get better at reading by reading.
As an veteran educator and specialist. Although this is correct when it comes to sight words it is best to tech students and allow them to recognize the phonemic awareness or sound awareness. This is important to spelling and the progression of reading. When the kids are older they struggle reading because they can and have memorized words new words become frustrating because they can not sound them out and read outside of sight words.

Kudos to you, all of this time you are investing into your children's education will pay off! Working on those neuron connections at a young age sets them up for success throughout their life, it really lays the foundation. My mom did a lot of that with my siblings and I as well, from the very start and I always had straight As, honors in college, and pride myself for being a good nurse and so attentive to detail. I truly have to give thanks for my mom's dedication, like you, as I don't think I would be where I am if it weren't for all the work done in my early years.

My granddaughter was like Nova at that age, she didn't/doesn't like getting answers wrong. She's in 8th grade now taking Honors classes and still gets upset when she's not on at least A/B honor roll. (December Birthday too, lol)

Try writing them on flash cards and then flash through them, that works for me and my son. Just sharing because that helps them just concentrate on just that one specific word. FYI it also helps them with spelling and reading more proficient. 😉 love you all

Here’s something to think about. In order to not keep her behind because of her birthday. You might want to think about putting her in a church school. That’s a Credit. It will private school so that she doesn’t have to stay back because of her birthday. Back in the day 70s 80s 90s that was the case of a 2023 that’s not the case anymore.
Both of my kids birthday fell after the school districts birth deadline. My son by 27 days and my daughter by 7 days😵💫My daughter tested out of kindergarten and went to a magnet school. Great job Love you guys!

I'm so sorry you and the boys got sick.
My household was like that I wanna say 2 years ago but I didn't catch it my husband and my grandson.
So what I did I just kept wiping down the doorknobs with bleach and water the counter tops the stove handles everything that has a handle even the appliances and I just vacuumed every night.
And I just sprayed lysol 3 times out the day and I hope and pray that that's heopened so praise me to God no one else got sick.
So my advice is just keep the house sanitize everything in there and just buy some lysol and spray it a few times out the day every day that will keep the viruses down in the house :) have a wonderful rest of the week God-bless you🙏🏽❤️

It’s exciting , exhausting, and fun watching our children play a sport!
Our last 2 ( twins)daughters played 2 different sports back in the 7th grade, one played basketball and the other one played soccer!
They are Seniors this year, l thank God for the experience!
Our 2nd oldest daughter ran track in her freshman year! She’s 29 now!
