There is no way you just said Gunner Stockton was pound for pound the toughest player in the country last year when he was playing the same season as Haynes King. 24:20
Josh, you're a GA boy, so what do you think? I grew up UGA, then a grad, always a fan. Growing up, state was split in half. Almost all of the GT fans over past 15 or so years became Alabama fans. Can GT ever recover, even if they were to turn things around?
I’m a Georgia fan and I think they have a great coach in Brent Key. That program is trending up just needs a little more buy in from the administration. Which seems to be coming with the facility renovation.
If you think your team is difficult to root for, I just want you to know I’ve cheered for the third team listed in “and then they go off the radar for a little bit - McNeese, Kentucky, Mississippi State” my entire life
Totally random but these rare non-conference matchups would be fun: Miami @ Texas Tech LSU @ Washington Michigan @ Virginia Tech (at night) Ohio State @ Houston Baylor @ Auburn Virginia @ Tennessee Alabama @ Colorado Just for the fun of the game and seeing certain styles clash or teams in time zones they never play in
Not sure how USC's schedule is considered tougher than Michigan's when a) Michigan plays OU in non con and SC plays G5 teams and b) SC gets Oregon and OSU at home and Michigan plays them both on the road in November. SC and Michigan also both play IU and Penn State. Also, Michigan plays Iowa, SC does not. So again, why is USC's schedule considered tougher?
Talking about first year head coaches? Of course he didn’t talk about Ryan Silverfield at Arkansas. 3-0 against Golesh and 7-1 against Golesh and Sumrall
College football is about loyalty and there's a different team on the field every year for every team there's no loyalty to be had anymore and it sucks
Any legislation providing governance of college football, or college athletics in general, without player collective-bargaining is nonsense. Full stop.
At this point, Meemaw is a recurring character we haven't met yet. Love the show and the logic you bring, Josh, but it’s time to bring Meemaw on for a segment. Only fair to let her drop that folk wisdom in person!
Honestly, I totally missed the tense! I just got caught up in the stories. Appreciate the correction-sad to hear she’s passed, but she’s clearly still the heart of the show.
Gunner bailed UGA out a few times last year… and they had like the most errors under Kirby in 9 years, and now that team has grown up and defensive portal additions? Give me that Same Gunner all day
You listed your preseason list of quarterbacks from 2025, but I would live to see your list of 2025 quarterbacks AFTER the season. You had Lagway #1, and Stockton unlisted in top 10. Show us side by side, the preseason rankings and the post season rankings.
Fans don't win if the media rights are pooled. Your team may end up playing on Tubi. Every network and streaming service will buy a few games, or maybe even just one. We will need every streaming service that exists AND cable. I thought you were one of us Pate.
Yeah there may be some problems with college football but we love the cfb drama around here lol my wife calls the football off-season the men’s soap operas lol
Bro the ACC BIG12 only way of relevance is TT and Miami. Who made a step towards competing this year? I looked at the rosters. I saw the amount of money spent. Sun Devils need donors. They are waisting Kenneys time. Colorados only claim to fame is Prime.... Who's making moves. VT has the coach but where is the wow factor with the portal ? Lets face it. B12 and ACC.... A whole lot more of the same... 🐅STTDB 🐅
I really enjoyed watching South Florida take off these last few years , it makes me nervous being a bama fan. Cuz if he can directly recreate that in Jordan hare this thing can be an issue fast
From the perspective of a neutral observer from the outside looking in, DeBoer's a proven commodity to some degree. Always good, can win big games, but drops games he shouldn't and tends to choke down the stretch. That 2023 Washington team and those 2 Georgia wins live rent free in our heads because, to be fair, that's really hard to do. He's impressive, yet disappointing at the same time. I don't know about Golesh. He's a good coach, but he's young and inexperienced. We'll see. Auburn is even more volatile and unpredictable. Take from that what you may
He may need to go back to where he established himself: somewhere like a Cincinnati or a Central Michigan (not specifically) where he would get the runway to build a program and restore his reputation.
Brings up not liking signing because kids don't remain loyal to their commitment. Then brings up Tennessee. Hmm. Is this a jab on Legend Bey whose own parents tried to railroad him into the Tennessee program. Curious why he choose Tennessee in this situation (one of his local teams)
When I grew up if you shook a man's hand or committed to something it meant something. It has got to a man's word is bull crap any more. They have made this sport all about me me me and money. If a man does not keep his word with me I am done with them forever. If a person thinks this is o k they are just as bad to me.
Oh yeah they were convinced Miami would win the national championship last year and they were also convinced that there was no way Indiana was going to win the national championship last year so you know okay go ahead bet on it
If someone doesn't stop the referees from going and telling their kin folk or their friends which team to put money down on and you know they're doing that because of the blatant missed calls that they're that they're calling then people are going to stop watching college football just like they did the NBA and pro football because you know what's happening
Yeah the Sandusky dude was scum but Joe Paterno he was a godly man and he was one of the top three coaches to ever teach kids college football at any level and what they did to him at Penn State what they did to Joe Paterno I hope they never win another freaking game
Texas is the Notre Dame of the SEC. Why are you talking heads still acting like they are some sleeping juggernaut? When have we seen any evidence of this being the case? The QB is once again the favorite to win the Heisman (despite looking very average all season last year), the coach has yet to prove he can win anything of any significance while a guy just came to IU and did it within 2 years, I don't understand. Georgia, fine. Ole Miss, fine. Hell even Alabama. But Texas? Come on.
There’s really no debate that the top of the Big Ten is stronger than the top of the SEC, but I also believe the middle teams in the Big Ten are stronger also than the SEC’s. SEC mid tier teams, such as Auburn would get destroyed by teams like Iowa, which is the Big Ten mid tier.
You can thank Covid, and 6th year seniors, for that nonsense. Indiana, Ohio State, & Michigan all had some of the oldest average age of any team to win a championship in the history of the sport. Six years of college experience is a joke, and needs to stop.
My brother in Christ it’s literally just on this channel, it’ll have a picture of him and whatever coach sitting down in a conversation as the thumb nail
I can tell you now kiffin will not win a natty at lsu I live in Baton Rouge and they are insane here and simply will sabotage themselves the fan base and money people are insane and will butt heads with lane and he will jump to the nfl in 3-4 years and they will have no battery and the program will be in flames
46:00 yeah then his story is he couldn’t recruit because players wanted to play for him and he had coaching skills, it will be that he had to be at the University with the biggest budget & oil money in the buy a player era to win anything. His chance came and went, he’s bought teams the last few years and underperformed every time. He’s a 🤡
Send me that link to the show or clip of him saying that, cuz that's awful that he decided to go that route!! I haven't seen it and I've been subbed and watched him literally since episode #2 of the show
@JoshPateCFBso was mine kinda cuz I know there ain't no such clip, but there's far too many people who make that exact same statement either about their team or their teams conference like they always say he doesn't actually like the Big12😊
I make the same kinda hyperbolic comments too and just in case people think I'm serious I like to throw a laughing emoji at the end but even then sometimes they think it's serious
SEC difficulty myth needs to end. They went 4-10 in bowl season. Their only playoff wins were against themselves, and a G5 sacrificial lamb. Their ONLY other win was against a Michigan team with a coach soon to be in prison. And the BIG middle beat the SEC middle - Illinois beat Tennessee and Iowa beat Vanderbilt. If you want to argue that Mississippi State is better than Rutgers, cool. But 1-10 the BIG is just better.
Brad: STOP discussing facts. STOP being rational. STOP being analytical. STOP being honest. This is Pate State (AKA “glorify the SEC at all costs”), and none of the qualities you exhibit in your post is welcome here. Pate State is simply a place to come to slavishly lick the boots of everything SEC. So please, STOP it b
Should conference strength be assessed seasonally, a small cluster of years, or a decade? What all goes into the assessment of conference strength? Should bowl wins matter - you actually mentioned it first - in an era where opt outs and disinterest make teams not representative of their regular season selves? Given the mess that is bowl season, shouldn't regular season results matter more? The SEC went 12-6 OoC, including 2-1 against the Big10. The Big 10 went 5-7 with the only winning record being against the ACC. The playoffs were also a mixed bag for the Big 10. Indiana swept everyone, but Ohio State lost immediately (confirming they had a fraudulent offense) and Oregon had an easy ride on their way to being decimated by Indiana. How should we look at conference strength when Indiana won a title with only ~1/3rd of the starters being Indiana recruits? Were they really a "home-grown" Big10 team if the bulk of its production came from other conferences? The SEC collectively recruits the best and has sent the most first rounders and total players to the NFL for like 18 years straight. Did that factor into your assessment? You didn't mention talent distribution in your reasoning, and that's a significant factor in what makes schedules and opponents difficult. Penn State collapsed as a football team, but had the talent to push Indiana to the wire. Penn State had a talent composite similar to Auburn and Florida, who went a combined 3-13 in SEC play. The reality is that the argument is highly complicated.
You base the difficulty of the SEC on meaningless Bowl Games?? With all the opt outs and all, you can’t be serious! I invite anyone to play an SEC schedule.
I have been watching every episode of your show and every bonus epsiode and speaker series, etc since January. Here is my question, tldr: Why is no one talking about Oklahoma State? You have mentioned them a few times- taking the over and putting spare change on the B12 title odds. You even gave WettBlanket a shoutout when he said you needed to come to Stillwater for the speaker series. I appreciate it. But you also made a list of the top quarterbacks for 2026, went around the leagues and previewed some players. Not a mention of Drew Mestemaker who was a top portal grab and led the nation in passing last season. They had a top portal class and you missed covering it with the other top classes. In this video you made a segment about coaches in the first year at their new job, you said the words "Oklahoma State" looking directly into the camera, and still didn't talk about Eric Morris! You don't have to say nice things about them, but can you put me out of my misery and at least talk about them for 2026? Is there a "top dark horse" list you are cooking up and saving it for in the background? Why is no one talking about Oklahoma State?? Thanks Matt from Tulsa
We are back to ask….yet again….do you plan on attending the memorial of Jesus Christs death Thursday April 2nd, 2026? Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses world wide will be commemorating the death and remembrance of Jesus tomorrow night. You always start the show saying “the year of our lord”..will you be attending?
Josh is whining because the way things used to be doesn’t exist anymore….how did things used to be? The programs he likes (the south) pay under the table and get all the recruits without worrying about repercussions . Those days are DEAD! The players have agency now and bargaining power….the same way you do at your job. Nostalgia is just a memory you can’t let go…let it go…the SEC and Clemson and those good ole boy programs are mediocre to good, they’re no longer elite they can no longer SCAM the system….
AND..... as expected. Your biased SEC homer ass is claiming that three of the five toughest schedules are SEC teams. This is 100% a load of bullshit. Over the last three years, the SEC is 2-8 in the playoffs against other P4 teams with an average margin of defeat of 14 points. THERE IS NO SEC SCHEDULE GAUNTLET. IT IS A MID CONFERENCE AND SHOULD BE A TWO BID LEAGUE THIS YEAR.
that's all yall got....is the last 3 years...since you're using the past (3 yrs) in this case, lets use a larger sample size...say 10, 15, 20 years.... especially that 10...your all caps doesn't make your ignorance into wisdom...
We all know you're going to spew garbage in this episode about gauntlet schedules in the SEC because of you and everyone else's biased preseason rankings that have between 7 and 11 SEC teams ranked --- and all ranked WAY WAYWAY too high -- when the conference should have at MAX five teams ranked in the preseason. When are you going to wake up and realize the SEC is mid and has been ever since the NIL / Transfer Portal era kicked into high gear. The SEC is 2-8 in the playoffs against other P4 conferences over the last three years with an average margin of defeat of 14 points. If any other conference performed that poorly against its peers, everyone would be screaming and hollering if they got more than two teams in the playoffs. THERE IS NO SEC SCHEDULE GAUNTLET. The teams are all over ranked based on on-field performance and as a result the SEC should be no more than a two bid league this year until they show they can beat their peers when it counts. If you can't see that there is no logical conclusion we can draw other than "you're really really really dumb and don't know anything about college football" or you're just another biased bought and paid for SEC shill. Which is it????

I wouldn’t worry too much. He’s barely a .500 coach in a weaker sunbelt conference.

@dforce23in three years golesh turned a losing program into a winning program
@dforce23 he took a usf team that had went 4-29 in the last three year and turned it around in three years
I wonder where Brian Kelly will coach next and when?
He may need to go back to where he established himself: somewhere like a Cincinnati or a Central Michigan (not specifically) where he would get the runway to build a program and restore his reputation.
Wherever it is, I hope he gets paid 10 million or more a year
@PureGeauxld 😂😂
@DustinBlythe foreal he could end up at liberty or something similar.
That OU schedule is brutal. Holy smokes.
There are worse 🤔
They play 3 teams even remotely decent haha, not brutal at all but they will drop games and make it look brutal…that’s for sure

Over the last three years, the SEC is 2-8 in the playoffs against other P4 teams with an average margin of defeat of 14 points.
THERE IS NO SEC SCHEDULE GAUNTLET. IT IS A MID CONFERENCE AND SHOULD BE A TWO BID LEAGUE THIS YEAR.
that's all yall got....is the last 3 years...since you're using the past (3 yrs) in this case, lets use a larger sample size...say 10, 15, 20 years.... especially that 10...your all caps doesn't make your ignorance into wisdom...
you could also just quit watching
@Jackson09why dont we use the last hundred!
Ain’t reading that… Shut up Michael

SEC is so rent free in your head they’ve got you writing a whole essay in a RUclips comment section. Get a life
Just say that you're butt hurt because nobody talks about whatever conference your team is in. No need for the novel 😂😂😂
