Had a great question about getting more information about Boolean operators - they actually work even better in newspaper research. I covered it a bit more in the latest newspaper video: ruclips.net/video/yRpW3iwln9w/видео.html. Check it out if you want more information about that!
I also had some questions about coaching and the timing of it - I can't remember who asked!! But the time slots on Patreon are Pacific Time, so in Ohio, the open 3:30pm 2nd Wednesday slot would be at 6:30pm on the east coast. If you are interested in coaching, visit www.patreon.com/aimeecross.
There is a way to create a Find-a-Grave listing for a person who is cremated. When creating the entry there is a box to check and then the rest of the information is straight forward. Great search tips!
Thank you! Sometimes when someone is cremated they put in a mausoleum and they have a site. Sometimes people put information up like that from death certificates and such. Anyone can create a find a grave memorial.
I've actually experienced the 10% situation, which is why I always perform my own thorough search of the records. The results can be amazing. Great video!
I hadn't realised the difference between searching the "clean search' from the top of the page and from within the person page. That is useful as I can remember an elderly lady that mother used to take me to her shop as she liked to see me BUT although I know her name she hasn't appeared in my searches within my village when I know she lived above her shop. Now I know a way to search and find her on Electoral Returns and then maybe find where she fits into my father's family. Thank you
A LOT of information! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. You are a GREAT teacher - you make it easy to understand and absorb what you are saying, and you give step by step examples. Wonderful job!
Oh my gosh Aimee! This was very informative and helpful. I've been on the right track with my searches but you have just blown me away with a few more tips that I have lacked doing. I will try some to find my grandfather in the 1910 census (the only one I'm missing for him and his siblings). QUESTION: Have you done a video on or about how to find children who were in care of the state and not with their parents or relatives?
I don’t have it and I’m trying to find the answer for you. But I will be hitting on some other new features soon, so I’ll add that in if I can. Thanks for adding that!
Great video and tips. Re: the wild cards, it seems to me that Ancestry is already really good about checking spelling variants (Stephenson, Stevensen, etc). Do you find that you'd get even more results? (I would say it definitely would in your Kunzli example.)
I have lately become a big fan of searching for an address with no name to find others who might be living at the same house. I enter the address "677 pawling" into the keywords, and then enter the city in the place. No other info. It is amazing to see what pops up.
Aimee, I've learned so much from your videos. I'm having a serious problem and I need HELP! I follow your search instructions just like you work for Aimee Paston - where you see results for her I see all the wrong people! Doesn't matter how "filtered" or "open" my settings. For example, my parents (John Sullivan and Mary Fuesting) were married in Effingham, IL Jun 1962. I never find their marriage license. I have the same problem when search directly from the catalog. Its driving me crazy not getting anywhere. Any advise?
Thank you so much! Glad the videos are helping you. It’s hard to say without trying things and diving in. You may want to join a group coaching or individual coaching session but the records may not be available. Be sure to look to see if they even exist. I know in Illinois a lot of their records are not available and held by the state so they can make money selling them.
No. The Aimee's Crew is on RUclips. Go to: ruclips.net/channel/UC_Xc7ATShOd-8odaTDhO7GAjoin to sign up - be sure to sign up for Aimee's Crew - there's a lower support level. The Patreon is for coaching. Can't wait to see you at the Aimee's Crew livestreams!
I’m assuming you’re talking about determining if a relationship is correctly identified. I’m actually doing a livestream today about that very thing at 9am pacific time today (Saturday). If you miss it you can watch the recording later. ruclips.net/user/live90HrQSMi1yo?si=ookc4UxLk5adUYZr

What is this new Explorer tab on ancestry perhaps content for an upcoming episode😊
I don’t have it and I’m trying to find the answer for you. But I will be hitting on some other new features soon, so I’ll add that in if I can. Thanks for adding that!

They are terrific with variations but some are missed so when you are striking out definitely try the wild cards.

@Aimee if the bride was 16 years old in 1927 would the record be restricted in Massachusetts? I’ve tried searching all different ways to no avail.
I’ve been trying to find the link for the handout to buy and i want to be a member of Aimee’s Crew. Is that the patreon membership?

I have the World Deluxe Membership and do not see Image Subject in the filters. ❓
That’s weird. It must be there somewhere. What do you have in the filters?
Genealogy TV just posted a similar video maybe the 2 of you should have collaborated
Yep. No kidding. Oh well. Connie at Genealogy TV is awesome. She has so many more viewers hope people see mine!! Feel free to share it. 🤣
I love that you both cover it in your own ways. It’s useful and I’m watching yours again. You make it simple and effective. Thanks 🙏🏼
How do you know if something is verified accurately

I’m glad ancestry works for you unfortunately if your family was a slave or in slavery no records found smh what a waste
Have you used the Freedman’s Bureau record group?
No I’ll give it a try thank you so much
I’m ADOS and found dozens and dozens of historical records and photos too.
No
Glad to hear it!
