The dream job for me really is just being a grody old hobo on the side of the road spooking teens with bad omens and warnings of doom. Underrated career path tbh
Everyone disagrees with me and it’s fine but this is my ABSOLUTE favorite of the F13. I love all the randomness of it. Random couple in the beginning, random biker gang, random pot smoking older couple hanging with teenagers for only God knows what reason. The whole thing is hilarious!
This one was actually supposed to end the series (before The Final Chapter and the others came out, lol), which is why they show Jason dead at the end.
in the 80s not only did we smell of deodorant, but of perfume, cologne, Aqua Net, flavored lip gloss, scented lotions and that was just to go to school 😀
Love's Baby Soft, Electric Youth perfume (I was a huge Debbie Gibson fan and had it- even though I hated it), Verve' body spray, Jean Nate' splash- everything had a strong smell and we did everything we possibly could to cover up any potential for natural scent to come through.
This commentary cracks me up. Especially during the opening sequence. I know this is not as well loved as part 4 or other entries in the franchise, but it’s where Jason gets his iconic hockey mask, compliments of Shelly, who somehow resembles Seth Rogen a little bit. I also love how there’s kind of a casualness to Jason this time out portrayed by Richard Brooker. He just kind of strolls around without a care in the world, as he shoots his flare gun:)
I’m old enough to have seen this in the theaters when it was originally released. The gimmick was it was in 3-D. She’s my favorite of the F13 final girls because I feel like she had to survive the longest on her own. And she really put up a fight.
I agree! She’s my favorite Friday final girl too. Such a fantastic battle between them. Plus she’s an absolute knockout and I love her felinity. Dana Kimmell did such a great job.
We actually did use deodorant back then and cologne believe it or not ; ) The only thing we didn't have were butt wipes so everybody's ass was a lot smellier 😂
Some fun facts - Catherine Parks (Vera) was the 4th Runner Up (Miss Florida) at the 1978 Miss America Pageant. Paul Kratka (Rick) quit acting and became a doctor and has been a content manager for Bonafire Health for the past 15 years. Larry Zerner (Shelley) won $250,000 on the game show on the February 7th, 2007 episode of "1 vs 100 - Last Man Standing" outlasting other contestants as pro poker player Annie Duke & Jeopardy! legends Brad Rutter and current host Ken Jennings. The cabin used in the movie was not two-story (there's a nice documentary about it) in a isolated area in California. The lake was man-made only for the movie and sadly, a group of people in 2006.
Actually Mrs vorhees eyes did open at the end of part 2 but the director thought it looked too cheesy so they cut it. But that zoom was gonna be on her eyes opening. I have a DVD of this and it has a 3D version and came with 2 pairs of 3D glasses I watched it in 3D it was interesting
Was this 3D?? Heck yeah. I remember the advertising for this movie back when it came out. It was a huge deal. Just like Jaws 3D you were supposed to be seeing the future of cinema. Every movie would eventually be 3D because it was awesome! Except it wasn't.
@@DanJackson1977This movie didn't use dual projectors, just single projectors fitted with custom lenses and aperture plates that shipped to theaters along with the reels. You're right that it was polarized 3D. Being single-strip made it much cheaper and easier to screen, but is also why it's so soft and grainy in 2D. Each standard-sized 35mm frame was divided between left and right eye, so that cut resolution in half and doubled the size of the grain right off the bat. Then the 3D lens rig on the camera degraded the image further. But this movie looks spectacular in 3D on my projector using the disc from the Scream Factory box set.
It was made for polarized 3D like what's in theaters now. Any glasses you see with red/blue were from TV showings or home video. The theater ones had grey lenses and had a drawing of an arm holding a fire poker on them.
Ginny IS my favorite Friday final girl, but I do love Chris, too. Your commentary is amazing. Love you both- Jonah Kill and Ben Splat is straight murdering me. 🤣🤣🤣
It’s funny how when I got older I realized the wife at the beginning is actually hot af. They tried to make her look like some trashy old hillbilly with the clothes and pins in her hair and named her Edna but I see though all that now 😂
Happy Friday the 13th. Jenny is alright as a final girl. Megan from part 6 is my favorite though. Maybe I'm biased because that was my favorite friday the 13th film.
I am just ecstatic that you’re reacting to my favorite horror franchise!!!!! I look forward to seeing you both watch the nine remaining films for the first time. It brings me so much joy. The whole lore and psychology of Jason Voorhees is badass. Each entry is a fun, wild ride. The 7th installment, Friday the 13th: New Blood, has a pro dominantly gay cast of actors.
The movie was filmed using polorized camera lenses and viewed through polorized #d Glasses as well. Basically clear lenses that played around with the colors and light. Notice how the colors in the movie seem a little off? It kind of works like today's 3D movies. The home version of the movie was changed to work with the red and blue/green glasses and just doesn't work at all. The original script continued from part 2. Ginny is placed in a psychiatric hospital where she eventually learns that Paul was killed. So she decides to go back to Crystal Lake to take down Jason. But because of other projects, the actress bailed out of the movie and a new story was created. Can't wait until you get to part 4. 4 starts the Tommy Jarvis trilogy. Part 3, 4, and 5 are not set within the actual Crystal Lake Camp. what we're seeing is Jason just trying to make his way back there. 3, 4, and 5 take place around Crystal Lake's livable locations. We don't see the camp again until part 6. You still haven't seen the true Iconic jason until part 7. That's when stunt actor Kane Hodder takes the role of Jason and portrays him all the way through 10. he made Jason.
Ginny was smart, but she was kind of a wuss except for the sweater scene. Chris was a fighter and was resourceful so she ranks higher for me as a final girl over Ginny or Alice.
I don't know if you'd call it frustrating, but certainly a curious detail is how everyone in the movie moves soooo sloooooooow; all of the kills look like ice melts faster.
31:15 my favorite kill in the whole franchise. Also I was wondering, is it like a gay super power to talk through an entire movie while still absorbing all the necessary information. Or is it more of a teamwork thing.
Nope. In Part 2 Ginny hacked all the way through one of his brachial arteries and that shit went untreated. He's dead as fuck from that if he's human. In Part 3 he got an axe buried deep in his brain, was pronounced dead and taken to the MORGUE. He just got right back up and kept killing immediately. The only difference in 6 is that he's not looking fresh anymore. The main argument in favor of human Jason is speculation from people who know basically nothing about him. Meanwhile some of the later movies straight up say that he died in the lake, including in non-character narration.
@6:23 And with the way the scene is going I would have thought it wouldn't work for a movie to go. I had no idea the movie was setting up Jason to be the good guy. The bunny is the least offensive thing of the three in the store.
This is my least favorite of the main 8 films. Sorry guys. I know is the mask one, but the acting is awful, probably the worst in the entire series, like after school special actors, the script was just part one rewritten. Its just so weak. The characters dont fit with each other, they'd never be friends irl. Idk, this one was just awful to me but I liked watching you guys. That damn girl with the poker. God that scene is so ridiculous. Rewatch that scene again, the running is like wtf?! Oh and you're going to be so disappointed in Jason goes to hell. I walked out of the theater with at least 20 others doing the same 😅
I saw Goody Vorhees dancing in the woods with the devil 🖤
The dream job for me really is just being a grody old hobo on the side of the road spooking teens with bad omens and warnings of doom. Underrated career path tbh
Apply at a haunted walk 😂
Harbinger of Doom is the job title lol
I us😊e to stand outside of McDonald's as people were walking in I'd say It's gotta death curse! Lol
“Grody” 😂
Fair

My favorite too!
I agree. It’s my favorite out of all of them too. And that cat and mouse chase and fight sequence with Chris and Jason rocked! Absolutely love it.
Please do The Final Chapter soon. Think you guys will enjoy it. But remember, there is no final girl like Ginny.
You two are so adorable
Happy Friday the 13th
🖤🖤
"Herbie Fully Loaded" just might be the ultimate insult! 🤣
Chris is an under rated final girl. Richard Brooker was a good Jason. xx
I agree. Dana Kimmell is still my all time favorite Friday the 13th final girl.
This one was actually supposed to end the series (before The Final Chapter and the others came out, lol), which is why they show Jason dead at the end.
lol now we know why we have protection seals on peanut jars and orange juice 🤣
"Is he a ghost?"
"Well I mean he can still be alive like now"
Love it!
in the 80s not only did we smell of deodorant, but of perfume, cologne, Aqua Net, flavored lip gloss, scented lotions and that was just to go to school 😀
💯🤣
Lmao

@@ScientificallyStupid I still wear Love's Baby Soft lol
@@funsalmon I still bust out the Jean Naté when the weather's really hot! Those things are classic for a reason.
Tracie Savage who played Debbie won 2 Emmys for journalism and is a professor now. Larry Zerner who played Shelley is an entertainment lawyer.
She was also on Little House On the Prairie in 1974.
18:10 biker chick looks like Phylicia Rashad aka Claire Huxtable
How about this: she resembles her, but I thinks she looks even more like Phylicia's sister, Debbie Allen.
Out of all the hilarious one-liners, the 'Herbie Fully Loaded' one got me lmao.

The best part of the commentary was when you started talking about the horror of burnt popcorn. THAT was comedy!!!
I was introduced to the series out of order with part III.
My personal favorite of the series
im so glad i found yall!
hey guys u notice rick was wearing the infamous sweater ? lol
Omg thank you RUclips for showing me this. I was cracking up the whole vid, thank you so much lolol
A couple years ago I found a dvd of the 3D version that came with 3D glasses at a convenience store. I could not believe my luck!

Oh this is gonna be good. Nice little Friday the 13th treat.
Hope y’all have a super sp00ky Friday the 13th 🖤🖤🖤
We'll be having the spookiest friday the 13th because WE'RE SEEING TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERA'S TOUR MOVIE TONIGHT!!!! 👻💜

Omg. I completely forgot that it was the 13th. Certainly explains all of the part III reactions I'm seeing today.

Fun Fact... F13 part 3D didnt use the red and blue anaglyph 3D... it was the clear polarized lenses. And in person, the 3D looked great.
I agree with awkward Ashley that this grocery dude is why we have safety cellophane on stuff.
Vera deserved better!!! 👏
Surprised you didn't notice Rick wearing Mrs Vorhees' blue sweater 😂😂

Yup...watch it again. Half the movie is 3D gags. 3D was good quality too...polarized, not the red and blue kind. Required 2 projectors.

Cant wait til pt four when it continues the same day from this part
Ginny had a more iconic final scene but I think chris held her own and she didnt feel as helpless as Alice from part 1.
Hey,guys… as a child of the 80’s, I just wanted to assure you that I used deodorant!🤣 Loved the reaction!❤️❤️
