- Here is Part I of my new bushcraft shelter in the woods by the bog. In a recent video, I explored a new forest and wanted to come back and build a bushcraft camp there. Here is the start of that shelter with a solo campout to come in the next video. Hope you enjoy this build and thanks as always for joining me!

Love seeing women doing survival skills on YT! Massive kudos!
I lived in a debris hut in October on the East coast for a week - no sleeping bag, no fire, and just a light coat. It taught me a lot. For one thing, the higher your ridge pole, the more interior space your body has to try to heat up. My ridge pole was only about crotch high. The wood for the "ribs" was less than wrist thick - easily broken (no saw needed). I stuffed the interior with dry leaves and put a layer about three feet thick on the outside. It took me about three nights of waking up cold in the wee hours to fine tune it so I could sleep warm and comfy all night. A door is essential. Your shelter looks very similar to another shelter I lived in for a week - a group shelter with a central fire - good choice for winter.
Realy nice to see a woman by her self enjoying a survival situation.
Brook, your hat is as iconic a signature as Lonnie's beard, Lars' "how you could say" M43 wool field cap, Joe Robinet's dog Scout, internet trolls in heat on Survival Lilly and Emily Outdoors comment sections, and MCQ Bushcraft Mike's good manners. The Boreal 21 is an awesome saw, you put it to very good use! Thanks for making the videos for us YOUR way, your channel has a very distinct feel to it that just isn't like anything else on the 'Tube. 👍🏻👍🏻

I agree!
Flattered to be mentioned with those peeps! Thanks
Agree! Scout & the Pendelton hat
Enjoying watching the shelter build. Thumbs up.
Thanks Lonnie!
You are one strong woman. In body & mind. I really admire you. I would not be able to be alone in the woods. Stay safe with your beautiful fur baby.
Your videos are so relaxing. Just shows you that you don’t have to have a lot of money to have a satisfying life!
I love you Brooke, I am living my life through you. I have told my daughter & husband if possible take me to the woods when I am leaving this life, that's how much I love the outdoors. Oh how I wish I could be there with you! You are a beautiful, strong woman. Looking good girl! 👍
Very cool thanks!
Good looking shelter and great progress! Looking forward to the finished product!
Thank you! I was just commenting on another video how I wished you would show how to make a debris shelter from start to finish, and here it is! Wonderful.
Brooke, You have worked really hard on building this shelter it is looking good. I hope you get to enjoy staying in it then all your efforts will pay off. Brilliant well done.
Nature untouched is hard to beat. You, however, appear to be creating a very cozy little hideaway that has a very Bilbo Baggins quality to it. Not at all out of place if you were in the middle of the Shire. Well done! You are an ARTIST. Now I know why I like your channel. Can’t wait to see the completion.
LOL love this! Of course I'm in the Shire!
Totally agree with your feelings on having more than a piece of fabric between you and the weather. Great music too! Loved this video. Your enthusiasm and joy is contagious :)
thank you!
I enjoyed watching you build the shelter. It looks like it will be better than the last one. It is so much roomer. It will be so warm. Can hardly wait to see the end results with a camping night. Stay safe and happy building
You and your husband inspires me a lot. I will try to camp by myself one of these days.
Love the way "random branches" come together to produce your micro climate maker. I can certainly identify with the sense of security this will give you ... Thanks for another great video, Brooke! Got happy just watching the progress you're making ! 😊
Great thanks!
Really like all your shelters, Brooke. This one is roomier than the one you built with Dave but I like that one a lot- very cozy. I guess they all come out with a different personality. The one you made on Alone is totally awesome! No one else on the show had anything that even came close. Must have been amazing for Dave to come “home” to. I bought season 4 as soon as it came out. Really like how you put the cross pieces over the door of the recent shelter. Glad you explained about the deadfall on the other trees. I trust your judgement better than mine! Looking forward to the next video. Loved this one!
thanks much Susan! I appreciate your attention to detail with our shelters :) I do love making them- just takes a bit of time
Every time I see one of these shelter videos it reminds me of Eeyore. he would be so happy with them.
That's a large shelter, you could fit a girl guide troop in there and still have room for a pool table. Nice work :)
Lovin' the music Brook. A little piece of mind with this design! Thank for sharing!
I'll watch part two as soon as I can!! Your shelter gives me something to shoot for!! Thank you!!
You got this
Very Cool, I like your saying "get out and get happy" :) if there were more women in the world like you Brooke the world would be a greater place:)
40belowful Aman to that! 🇺🇸
We are here!😊

Hi Brooke this is my first time writing to you but I’ve been watching you for a little while. At least I think it’s the first time I’m writing you LOL. I really enjoy the look of your shelter compared to other bushhcrafters I’ve seen on RUclips and I can’t wait to see part two it looks nice and roomy and I totally understand about that feeling of safety with the debris shelter. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your videos!

So cool!
A place where we wanted to live in this place
Nice music. I can tell you like playing in the woods...I know the symptoms because I have the same ones, lol. And like I always say, if you aren't occasionally hitting yourself in the head with a stick, it's because you probably aren't playing in the woods enough! Great video, now on to part 2.
LOL glad you get it! cheers
as always, enjoyable & educational video. Also nice hat.
Great job Brooke!
Great start to your shelter. Looking good. I did this with my sons when they were ten and twelve. I guess I'll have to try it with the grandkids now. It might take a little longer this time. Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. Thanks.
awesome hope so!
Keep it coming, I want to do a bushcraft video here in AZ, great conifer forests but little water, not to mention right now is wildfire season and this year is going to be a doozy, crunchy and crispy out there. Great video, looking forward to the next one.
i built a debris shelter in one of our wooded parks well off the main trail but close to a deer trail, i built it so i could take pictures of the wildlife as it passes by. i used all dead material that was on the ground or leaning, i left all standing dead trees. anyway it took me a couple three days to build and it wasnt all that big, but when i came back with my camera it was all torn down and the material was scattered all over. i dont know if it was just a pass byer who thought it was a homeless person building a camp or the park ranger, either way i didnt rebuild it. i wish i had took pictures of it after i had finished it, i think you would have been proud of the build.
such a bummer!! i'm worried it might happen to me too...
Have fun!!!!
Hi from Ohio. That looks great. Thanks for sharing.
