He'll will also share his insights on balancing the desire to serve his audience while staying true to his art, and how he learned to prioritize his passion for music over chasing chart rankings.

I don't know Hozier personally but he really doesn't know how brilliant he is as a lyricist and musician. He is, by far, one of the Superior writers and music makers of today. I only hope he keeps putting his mark on this world with his gorgeous songs and music , along with the musicians he has currently working with him on his tours. They are incredible as a little collective on stage. Hozier needs to accept that he is fantastic. His live shows are better than most. I saw him in Belfast in Dec 2023 and seeing De Selby performed was....WOW........Amazing and beautiful.

What you should tell yourself is that you have created something, even if it doesn’t sell. How many people can truly say that? Probably not one in every ten thousand. Who knows? Nick Drake was like the Van Gogh of music - he only became famous years after his death.
Having said that, I wish you the best and hope that you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour. The point being is if it’s down, you never know when it will touch people. Herman Melville’s book, originally The Whale, became famous about 60 or 70 years later, at around the end of the First World War, nearly thirty years after his death, as Moby Dick

The best part about Hozier is he is true to himself while making his art. Why release music that isn't expressive of who you are at the core?? He makes music for a very specific ear and I am so here for it. And he is cool with that. And he's just one of the best artists and singer/songwriters all around. He's down to earth and so vulnerable. Saying he doesn't really need external validation goes to show that he is so humble. I love him. I can't help it.

One of the best things about being around the same age as Hozier is that his music really does have emotional truth that packs a timely punch. There are lots of great moments in this interview, but I think the ones that I most vibe with is the purpose of art and the artist - healing, solidarity, and being the hand the squeezes before a catastrophe. I suppose another surprising moment was the discussion about sound being an even more fundamental perception than sight.

Fantastic interview. Unreal Unearth is an absolute masterpiece. Hozier's talent just keeps expanding and capturing us in its orbit. I've been lucky enough to see this tour twice and will again in August. It's an emotional ride. Hozier deserves all the success he's receiving and I look forward to the day he knows that definitively.

@@maitelorza9657 of course by no means that’s a bad thing! Everyone is entitled of their own privacy and even more when you are a known figure. However my comment was targeted to the interviewer to see his skills in lowering Hozier guards. God know i’ve seen so many interviewers failing 🤣 so it was a sarcastic remark of me. But low and behold he did.

I recently rediscovered Hozier. We are both pisces and our birthdays arw a few days apart. I love his humble and transparent demeanor. I was lucky to see him in April and i plan to never miss a show when he's in town. He has special fans. There were moments when the crowd would be silent to let Andrew sing to us. It felt so special and intimate. Incredible interview. Would love to have him back for a part 2. ❤

I really appreciate the scope and depth of this interview, and I’ve only watched 10 minutes. Irish people in general don’t fawn over our fellow countrymen (or anyone) no matter who they are, and are suspicious of those who think they’re a cut above the rest, so there’s a tendency for people to keep their feet on the ground. It’s interesting to see Hozier’s honesty and humility, and I never expected to see him here with Lewis. There’s so much Lewis can’t ask him because he just doesn’t know about Ireland, but this is like peeling the onion layers 🧅

I gifted my son the book and I hope it will help to redirect him from the affects of toxic masculinity exemplified in his life. Gotta say, halfway through I started wondering if the Long Man is gonna end up fully horizontal, crushed under the weight of the questions, as he was getting more and more askew, but I'm glad he survived. On a more serious note, it was wonderful to listen to an interview that was just a nice conversation and not just having questions checked on the list. And I have to agree with what was said about the fear negative reception of your work - if there is honesty in the work, other people's perception/opinion doesn't change its quality or value. Anyways, good job, wise guys! 🙂
