Oh the woes of pant fitting :D Claire, I think it will be a good idea to make a toile on this pattern and maybe keep the toile for future patterns, almost like creating a pants block. To grade up from your hip to your waist makes sense if your waist measures larger than your hips. Making a toile will truly work because you can see that where the ease has been added by the designer. The fabrics are just brilliant! :) Thank you Claire for sharing! ...

lovely fabrics, the double gauze is very pretty, how about a simple top like the Sew House 7 Remy Raglan - I made it in double gauze using the free add on balloon sleeve pattern piece and it was instantly taken by my teenage daughter! Well done with the TATB Thea trousers, they look great, I've yet to make a start on mine.

Love how you’ve got the button storage too! I’m in between keeping the pigeon wishes buttons on the original cards but also want to pop them in the box - problems of a sewist eh! Gorgeous fabrics - that blue and green cotton poplin is gorgeous! I’m on the fence with the marnie but there’s so many lovely versions online that I’m on the edge of maybe going down the marnie rabbit hole 😂 love your trousers - I’m about to embark on trousers and ooooh need cool lining 😂 for the pockets ha ha and bought some of that lamazi double gauze ❤

I feel like you’re my fabric twin 😂. So weird about the Thea’s although I always have to grade as my hips to waist ration is always different 😩. Have you tried measuring the pattern paper piece and taking off the seam allowance to see what it measures at? x

I know what you mean about sizing of patterns. I recently made the Wren blouse which is my favourite make of a long time. I made a size 8, which is a perfect fit. However my know me dress is a size 14! I thought I was a 12 on the measurements but I toiled the bodice and needed a 14! Bizarre! I love your fabrics and it’s impossible to resist sometimes. I’m with you on the bright colours, beautiful!
    Happy sewing 😀

Your Thea trousers look great. About the sizing - I recently made the Emerson trousers and had the same issue. The advice I was given is that it's easier to grade up the waist so to go with the hip measurement. It worked for me and I'm currently cutting out the Thea so wish me luck. xx

Claire, I also ignored the Marnie top at first but then, after seeing all the makes online, I had convinced myself I needed that pattern because I loved all the pin tucks. I've now reverted back to thinking it isn't a pattern for me. It always reminds me of a granny's nightgown in the dress version. I'm not a fan of a huge amount of ruffles, either. As oversized as it seems, I also don't think it would be a good idea with my large chest and thick waist. Way too much fabric involved! I think the garment would appear to wear me!! I've done a little research and I've found several patterns that will satisfy my obsession with pin- tucks and pleats in some more tailored garments. You've acquired some lovely fabrics and good save on the giant clown trousers!!

I would go by your hip measurement and grade out to your waist. I’ve done that before myself. In terms of a top I have a larger chest but I’m quite small elsewhere and I really like the vali top by pattern fantastique. It would also lend itself to a lot of the retro 70s prints. Tianas closet have a few free similar ones and I think also the Karmme blouse might be a free similar one. Sam talks about it from Frugalisima in her recent vlogs.
