I'm just updating my IC7300 in 2023, so a little slow on doing this, however I appreciate your to the point presentation. A few years ago I had the Yaesu FT991 ( not the 991A ) and when Yaesu came out with new firmware for it, the CPU, the display, and something else had to be updated separately. You had to turn on the radio while pushing two extra buttons and for each update it was a different pair of buttons that needed to be pushed. If you pushed the wrong two buttons and then did the wrong firmware update you would lock-up the radio and only get a screen that had the Yaesu logo. Ask me how I know! Thankfully it was easy enough to redo the update and that fixed it so I didn't have to send the radio back to Yaesu. Had me scared for a while. Very happy that Icom is so much easier. Thanks for the video. N3EDO
Thanks very much mate! Yes I didn't know either! So I needed to update mine so grabbed the camera and though why not film it so others can follow. 73 and thanks for watching 👍
Are the changes in firmware earth shattering different? Are you still enjoying the 7300..i remember one of your videos where you said you were 100% digital modes.. What happened? Thanks for all the vids. Love your channel 😉
Hiya mate! I've not noticed any change to be honest but good to keep it updated 🙏 I am still hugely passionate about digital! But I do enjoy HF too and the 7300 is all the radio I will ever need 😂 I just need to get a d star radio again then I have all 3 digital modes. Even on HF I use digital 😂 not a huge user of ssb etc.. thanks for watching bud 👍
Short and sweet Matt, the way it should be. I laughed at “you don’t have to but i prefer to turn the radio off” You sound just like me, loved up radio user. My FT-450D was purchased new, nearly one year ago. Would you believe that it’s still got the plastic that covers the display, that it arrived with. M7BCN
Haha thanks a lot mate 🙏 the 450d is a great little radio! Never owned one but love the display on those, sounds like you do too that's why you kept the protector on lol 🤣 thanks for watching mate very much appreciated 🙏
@@m6ceb Enjoying them pal. My channel consists of some of my QRP contacts. Takes some balls getting in front of the camera. Kudus to you Matt. Keep em coming.
you should slow down a bit....been away from ham radio for 20 years ...a lot of changes in that time...A lot of bells & whistles that the old FT-301 Yaesu did not have.
