Elena - "These were unclaimed territories." Did you ask the people who lived there if they claimed it? Also, she is so adamant about her position while describing the "fascism" in Ukraine, but everything she lists is like she is talking about the RF. "No free speech (check), all information sources are blocked (check), everything is closed (what?), all you can get is what Zelensky's (Putin's) central office broadcasts (check)." Just wow!

"Fascists" = "Far-right Ukrainian nationalists". Such as "Right Sector", "Misanthropic Division", "UNA-UNSO", "Azov" etc. It's a real thing. They do exist.
True! Even though it is always said that Ukraine's territory is "historically" Russian. How far can we go into the past when making such decisions? Who decides that? If so, we should all be glad that Ethiopia is not a nuclear power and wants to take back all the territories of the world. Historically, that should be legitimate based on the Russian narrative.

Thank you for the video! I live in a tiny town in Russia and most of the adults have the same thoughts, as Elena. They watch TV all the time and talk about the war a lot and they think that the russian army does the right thing. As I am against the war, it brokes my heart. It feels like all my loved ones went crazy on the 24th of Feburary. I do not recognize them anymore, I feel alienated and, to be honest, I`m scared. People, who taught me that the most important things are kindness, acception and love suddenly started supporting the killing of the civil people in Ukraine. It is devastating.
My heart breaks for you. It is so hard to feel alone in your position, and to watch people you thought were sane and moral, act in ways that are not. But you aren't alone. Halfwayaround the world is one person, me, who agrees with you. And I know many more around the world who do. Here, in my own country, I am fighting a similar war, with those who support an ex- President who has 4 indictments against him with 91 felony charges, and still these fools support him. He is a Putin wannabe. So, you and I in whatever small way we can, have to fight these battles for the sake of our world.

@@bornatona3954 Actually, the old Stalinist doesn't have the faintest idea what's going on in the world and only parrots Putin's propaganda lies. Nothing she said was true.
Well, Elena is a top-speaker in this video, I suppose😅 Haven't anyone noticed her answer to the 2nd question? I'd say, her words are translated quite mildly in the subs. The question is "How do you feel about Tatars, Chuvash, Yakutsk, Chechens and other Non-Slavic Russians?". She says: "They're good guys. At first, I was really amazed when they were brought in the country in large consignments [surely, it's a figure of speech, but anyway she uses Passive form which implies "they" didn't come by themselves, somebody in a higher position sent them. Also she uses the word "consignment" which implies they're things, not humans]. And I was amazed, the guys didn't know the Russian language..." the rest of the translation is adequate. What is more, Tatars, Chuvash, Yakutsk, Chechens and other Non-Slavic Russians are still Russians! They've lived on this land for centuries, they weren't "brought" here. And they speak Russian as well as their local language. So, I suppose, Elena confuses these people with Tajik, Uzbek and other nationalities from the Central Asia. They come to Russia mostly to work here and to provide for their families. But Elena doesn't even care, she's is so ignorant that she can't distinguish between a Russian, but not Slavic and a representative of another country. Seems like for her a person whose appearance isn't slavic is just a different kind of a human: "a good guy", but, surely, in a lower position than she is. Otherwise, she wouldn't choose such derogatory words to express her thoughts.
Thanks for that improved translation - it sounds more realistic, given her attitude in general to anything that wasn't originally Russian - if there is such a thing.
Not trying to defend her but it feels she really did NOT undersand the question. She's aggressive but not completely uneducated so she definitely knows that Tatar and Yakut people are Russians. She def was referring to the people from the ex-Soviet countries who have been really coming to the big cities and moving up the career ladder - Tadzhik, Kazakh, Uzbek, Armenian and other people. Moreover, Slav Russians, maybe aside from rare occasions or little kids do not feel any type of way about the 'non-Slav Russians' because they've been living in the country for centuries. Tatar look fully caucasian so you wouldn't even know. Other nationalities are also either hard to recognize or... well, there is not a lot of special treatment towards them, in general, believe it or not.
@@XaniaKorinec It has been observed, with a measure of subtle regret, that within the august boundaries of the Russian Federation, individuals who do not partake in the quintessential Slavic countenance might, on occasion, find themselves recipients of hospitality that is, shall we say, somewhat less effusive than one might ordinarily anticipate, believe it or not.
Interesting, how they say: "we just liberate unclaimed territory", "we just entered Poland in 1939 to help Czechs", "yeah, the fact of invading Poland was taught from a slightly different perspective"... "We don't invade, it's our historically Russian terrories".
Poland in 1921 occupied the territories of Belarus and Ukraine. The USSR returned them 18 years later. Some Russians do not know history and are ashamed of the "occupation" of Poland. There is no need to be ashamed.

Well, since you're such a fighter for Polish territories, you can ask the Ukrainians and Lithuanians to return Lviv and Vilnius to the Poles, lol.
@@thegreen9728 Well, Russia only got so big by conquering, oppressing, murdering, deporting, etc... of the many ethnic groups on today's Russian territory. And Stalin's time is a time of inhumanity, in which probably just as many people were murdered as died in World War II. Even if you disagree with some of the opinions, this form of media is very important. It is important to listen to all sides, even when they are parroting the messages of others. Every country has people that justify the actions of their government as being correct and just, even when they are not. People are doing this more and more as individuals now because someone on the internet will validate them. Great videos.

He taught me valuable skills like swimming, cycling, and many others, always wearing a smile. RIP. Isn’t it funny that nobody thought COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY was a thing when asked if Germans who remained silent in WW2 were complicit? Some of those Germans stayed silent while they could smell the burning bodies and while that wasn’t everyone Germans eventually accepted collective responsibility for what happened and changed, Russians never did apart from a very brief period in the late 80s/early 90s when there was some attempt to face Stalin’s crimes but that didn’t even go far enough to take collective responsibility for what Russians collectively did to themselves never mind their neighbours. I was involved in the stop the war coalition on the lead up to the 2003 Iraq invasion, yet I still accept the collective responsibility for what my nation did. Taking collective responsibility for the actions of your government is the only way Russia will ever really change.
No. You already stole $300 billion from us. You imposed sanctions. You sent weapons. You cut our gas. Now you want us to take responsibility? Lol no. We will only do a favor in an exchange for a favor. For example: sanctions lifting/money return/refusal of sending weapons to Ukraine. Otherwise, no. You can't have all at once. Ukraine can't have all the territory, all the money, all the weapons, a peaceful neighbor and NATO/EU membership. Choose only some. A favor for a favor.
For collective responsibility each person in the collectve needs to have individual ability to influence the country. Right now people are powerless and with no tool to influence change in Russia, so, there is no responsibility. The closest thing to people having responsibility for whatever happening are generations who were alive and adult 1990-2012. Then people had a reasonable chance to influence politics, through still having mainstream media that could critique government on TV, could safely organize and plan protests etc. But after 2012, when massive protests failed because people were not radicalized to the point of violent protests and as a response to a failed pseudo revolution the unending political repression began as a reaction, especially after 2014, that ability was gone and people can only react to a window of opportunity to make an act when time comes to make a change, not able to create that window themselves.
@@FrOsTIIDeAtHThat seems kinda silly. It would assume rights to protest were merely given to people around the world by the country's authority, rather than a will originated and demanded from the people itself. It seems they have none. Meaning, if Russians in general wanted a right to protest, then I don't think they would've simply let that go. Its seems like they're kinda like those Afghans, who sat on the military transport plane for too long, and didn't jump off it in time. For whatever reason, they just stayed on the Putin plane, and now the speed is picking up. Fast and faster. Many people jump off at high speed, but it's too late at this point. Russia is a democracy only on paper. In reality, it has never in its history been anything but an autocracy. Putin is really not "the president", he is yet another czar (or prince, if you wanna go back further).
I am Italian, and the word 'fascism' is linked to the regime established by Mussolini in 1922. Certainly not a source of pride for us, but fortunately it is a thing of the past, although we must always be vigilant. So if I have to refer to the original fascism, that of Mussolini, I can say that fascism is: 1) an anti-liberal regime in the economic field, which is not against private property like communism but which does not create free market conditions and concentrates capital by giving it into the hands of (a) the state and (b) selected groups of entrepreneurs loyal to the regime 2) a system that imposes silence on opponents, has almost total control over the media and makes propaganda one of its main tools 3) a system that almost always makes instrumental use of alleged patriotic sentiments and the historical past, seeking to exhume alleged rights derived from past glories. See, for example, Mussolini's obsession with the Roman Empire, which had led us to such disgraceful exploits as the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935. As a consequence, a fascist regime is also a militarist regime. 4) a system that alters people's scale of values on an individual level, which causes a section of the population to consider things such as bribery or denouncing opponents of the regime as normal behaviour. This was Italy during the twenty-year fascist period. And does it not look like the Russia of today? And tell it to Ms Elena, who after watching Soloviev on TV for years has got so many misconceptions and ignorance. We Italians got rid of Mussolini in 1945. How long will it take the Russians to do (perhaps) the same?
Russians - and not only - do not distinguish Nazism from fascism. In addition, in Soviet times, enemies were generally called "fascists" or "Nazis". Of course, apart from the period when the Soviet Union cooperated with the Third Reich
All these detailed points can be summarized in one principle: fascism is a system that proclaims that the state is allowed everything. The current Russia meets the definition of fascism.
What does "original fascism" even mean? Fascism is fascism, and everybody with a modicum of understanding of history knows that it originated from Italy. Hitler was just a copycat, but apparently he was good enough to be remembered for it for all eternity. What is it with humanity's fascination with monsters? Why can't we care more about the truth and the facts? I guess I will never know.
Elena perfectly explained a fascist state but couldn't see she was talking about her own country.

The question itself about "НЕславянские русские" was incorrect. It's an oxymoron. There are only "НЕславянские россияне".
yeah, all these nations just somehow emerged on the legitimate russian land! so kind of russia to take care of all those 'unclaimed' territories

And what the Russians accuse Bandera of today, they did extensively themselves, namely working together with the Nazis. And the post-war period is also marked by the oppression of European countries, which were imposed the disgusting communist Russian social model.

RIP. I would like to emphasize that the power of propaganda-induced brainwashing can be remarkably potent. Let us not forget that Goebbels only had access to radio and newspapers, whereas today we have numerous methods to manipulate the minds of vulnerable individuals.
OK, I do understand and respect your affection of your grandfather and how his opinion got formed and well...manipulated, brainwashed But tell me , how exactly did we put an end to the whole German ordeal again? And was there any other solution? I'm afraid not. To put it very crudely, it took a hell of a beating on the entire country, in order to "cure" it. Well then...if we think that Russia will stop after the donbas and cure itself, we are delusional. This country is beyond dialogue. This war is not Ukraine's war alone, it is our war, of the entire European continent. It will take a military miracle, but one we should really hope for, and that is that Ukraine cuts them off. How do you think they make so great kebabs, it's russian meat.
Apparently, you can buy souvenirs, a mix of spices there... and Russians, LOL XD Turkey has its democratic issues, the conflict with Kurdish people but comparing this country to Russia would be inaccurate, to put it mildly. I'd feel offended by that if I was of Turkish origin. I studied with some Turkish people under Erasmus+, they were in Poland and, on that basis, I can say that the Turks are not two-faced and have their own sense of freedom unlike Russians. They're brave enough to criticise their own government as every normal citizen of ANY free country.
Me neither. Can I buy a sexy 20 something Russian blonde there? Pls. don't tell my wife I asked! LOL
Even more revealing that they pay inflated airline ticket prices to go there. Clearly anything is better than living near 'Elena' (translation: Russian Karen).
She is talking about the 1700's, when Russia took the northern margins of the Black Sea from the Ottoman Empire, and she is (mostly) correct on this particular point.
I don’t think Russians are sold in Turkish markets. I know you can buy nice apricots and spices in a Turkish market, but who would buy a Russian?
Russians. Problems ?
I bought two in Istanbul only the other week. One, like Elena was past her sell by date, but the other was very good with a nice Chianti and fava beans.
That was hysterical! Nobody would buy Elena. She's well past her expiration!
I would. Russians are great, actually. Especially the women! 😍
There weren't. Circassian women were. Of course Russia saved them from this fate by committing genocide.
So Elena go a two-fer deal here - ignoring one (of many) Russian genocide and taking up their story for Russia's own.
This channel is the best personal development I've ever experienced. It's so good to have to listen to these people and deal with it.

Honestly, everyone keeps harping on Elena for some dumb reason, but after watching a few of these videos, it's refreshing to see how many people in Russia still seem to have a perfectly open mind. I believe it's because the main aspect of Putin's propaganda is actually not to bend the people to his way of thinking, but to just keep them out of politics. It's brilliant actually.

In Elena's time, the morality of the society was this: everything the communist party says and dones is good. And everyone who opposes it, or is even critical of it, is evil. Where did they base this? On the "fact" that "history proved" that the only ideology that can bring humanity forward is communism, and everything else leads to destruction and suffering.
So Elena is just acting on the way she was brought up. Truth for her as a value comes second, after whatever the communist party (and/or government) does and believes.

When we were fighting in Africa, we were told we needed Africa and after that it was abandoned because they stole all the money that was supposed to help. When we were told we were at war with Ukraine, we went and fought. But it turned out that ammunition, armaments, the money that was intended for this purpose was also stolen. And the officials are sitting, saving them for themselves, just for the case that has happened today, when someone goes to Moscow. Now they are not saving anything. They are hitting with planes and helicopters the columns where peaceful people are moving. They are hitting, because they are missing the targets, they are hitting wherever they can. We are patriots.
👏👏👏
Yes, Edmurth! Russians will have the same legacy as Germans who did nothing to stop Hitler.
Wow, where did you find these grandma?
I am Italian, and the word 'fascism' is linked to the regime established by Mussolini in 1922. Certainly not a source of pride for us, but fortunately it is a thing of the past, although we must always be vigilant. So if I have to refer to the original fascism, that of Mussolini, I can say that fascism is:
1) an anti-liberal regime in the economic field, which is not against private property like communism but which does not create free market conditions and concentrates capital by giving it into the hands of (a) the state and (b) selected groups of entrepreneurs loyal to the regime
2) a system that imposes silence on opponents, has almost total control over the media and makes propaganda one of its main tools
3) a system that almost always makes instrumental use of alleged patriotic sentiments and the historical past, seeking to exhume alleged rights derived from past glories.
Ukraine have same right now
Russians - and not only - do not distinguish Nazism from fascism.
