    The last point is so profound. I did read the Diary in middle school. I did NOT know that two of her friends were STILL alive. I'm in my thirties now so it's a profound realization that when I read that book, those same two friends were my parents' age now.

    I'm reading Frank's diary at the moment. Because of its nature, you can either start at the beginning and work forwards like I'm doing, or dip in anywhere.
    I'm finding that reading a couple of entries in the morning is a really good way to start the day, plus a few more before going to sleep.

    We read a play version in my high school. We’d have people in the class read for the characters. I can’t remember which one I’d read for but I remember we tried to keep the same people for each character. I began to associate my classmate’s voices and my own with those characters. Definitely one of the better reads from high school. It’s sad schools are taking this away. History isn’t pretty. Humans have done horrible things to each other. We must remember

    We actually had a extract of this book for our literature class, but the extract was so small that I can honestly say that I've merely glanced the book cover of the book. I thought going into this video that I'd know mostly what was being said but I WAS SO WRONG. Watching this video made me realise how stupid the idea of extracts are. Like summarising context can oftentimes just squash any emotions built up from reading the actual thing and it can alienate some important past conversation between characters. I hate that I was literally given such little content compared to the book. Schools really try to keep you as ignorant as possible. They literally made it so hard to find this book in the library and stuff. They don't even have it sometimes! It's infuriating!

      @yitzhakkornbluth2554 2 года назад

      I actually thought they got the vowels pretty much right, though accenting the middle syllable in the latter word (it's supposed to be accented on the last syllable) may have made it sound wrong.
      The זל at the end, on the other hand, had a pretty misformed ז. (This is leaving aside that there's a more specific acronym used when speaking of victims of Anti-Semitism; the general ז"ל is still suitable as well.)

      Yom -> the "om" is pronounced like the word "ohm"
      Hashoah -> Ha-Show-ah
