I don't know if it's a proper answer to your question, but it was something I learned by studying. From a linux machine we are accustomed to access via ssh, but there is the midnight commander that works in bash and that allows you. browse via sftp even better than we would do in ssh and using few features. I hope I helped you.

Need internet ip, not NAT from ISP. It can be dynamic and dyndns, but static prefer :-). Your router should be reachable via your public IP
