This came out around 2000, RUclips just wasn't around at the time. A lot of the lyrics refer to contemporary stuff that most younger people miss too- i.e. Tom Green had a big show Jackass where he did stupid pranks, and got a ton of attention/popularity for it. Will Smith had a small rap career with a couple of hits like 'Getting Jiggy Wit It', and then criticized Eminem's first album for profanity, and so on. Most of the verses are about people who were dissing on him at the time or not believing that he could be a real rapper.

The way his lyrical phrases often don't sync up with the musical phrases is so unique. It's very rare in any pop music of any kind, whether rap or R&B or rock. His phrases are already going when the musical phrase starts over. It's things like this, just throwing convention right out the window and doing his own thing (brilliantly) that makes him such a legend.

In the day, he was kinda like the dancing bear at the circus: it was all about the bear dancing, not how well he danced. But he had the skills and the will to put it out there. You need to hear more Eminem. He is fantastic. This is his sophomore offering. The very first album. Try the songs from 8 Mile.

I mean, this song was essentially about how there's a huge disaffected, disillusioned youth and portion of the working class in America. Eminem saying the things that were normally reserved to their living rooms on the radio was like a revelation. He spoke for people that felt they had no one to speak for them. Sure, a lot of the things he said were unsavoury, and he's probably grown a lot from the man he was back then, but the opinions he was given voice to were still a pretty important cultural moment.

So with mist of eminems work 90% of it goes over your head like you can make a whole trivia game out of some facts and snib bits from 1 song as in what he means with certain frases or how some word play works like you gotta know a lot of things in history and such to really know all the connections he makes and it is so much fun deciphering itball

Hey man, new subscriber. Found your channel a few hours ago, love your reactions. I'm maybe 5-10 years older than you and have been a huge Em fan through his whole career. I would love to see you react to Caterpillar ft. Royce, Homicide ft. Logic, and most importantly Darkness

The video might've been uploaded to Eminem's youtube channel in 2010. But, the video itself was released in 2000 (about 6 years before youtube was created). The song and video are from his 2nd album which was released in 2000.

Two things: 1. Em is the greatest rapper ever; 2. This is so late 90s and awesome.
