G’day, John. I got a kick out of the “headless” man. Gorgeous day, for Horse Guards and for voting too. That painting of the horse and guard is quite good; wonder what he plans on doing with the finished product ?
In another video there are white lines keeping the tourist about 3 or 4 feet away from the horses. The horse and guard will now be safe from these awful humans!!!
I personally hope they go back to shouting at disrespectful tourist. If people don't want to be shouted at, then learn the rules and "choose " not to disobey or plead ignorance about them. Simple as.
I agree. Why did they stop? Being from the US I personally appreciated that they stood their ground. It is in fact THEIR MILITARY BASE. Some of the public unfortunately needs to be reminded that these men and women and the horses have fought, do fight to protect the freedoms they seem to take forgranted.
I think the problem is that some of these Tourist don't speak or read English so they have no idea why they are being yelled at or even if the yelling is directed at them. I find it odd that you immediately think that they are being intentionally disrespectful.
@@Carmen698 It doesn't matter. The shouting is (or was) protocol. You don't need to read or speak English to know that some things are not appropriate, like holding onto a horse's reins for example. Some disrespect is apparent even if you can't understand what they're saying.

A quick info on uniforms - before I forget it and it seems to be of interest to many and not only you John :) The uniform is dark blue with gold braid and dark blue trousers with red stripes. The tunic is lined with pigskin/wool to prevent sword strikes, as is the high collar. The gold braids also protect and the buttons are emulate musketballs. The hat is called a busby and is made of faux fur and has a plume. The officers wear white ostrich feathers to be seen by the gunners which, btw are made of horse hair. It is said that this is to serve as a shaving brush and or a wedding ring holder. Wrapped around the busby is a golden lanyard and a small red pouch. This is called the busby bag and was used to hold documents as well as snacks and dried fruit for the wearer. The uniform is designed in such a way that the gunners can move quickly and easily to load their guns as well as to move around etc.
How tiresome it is John, to have people pick you up on every single word you say. Or in this case, what you didn't say !! Remember the day when you could say almost anything because people weren't over-sensitive pussies. ! Please don't change John. You are a breath of fresh air and you make my day.

Hi, John! I'm an American woman who's lived in Milano (Italy) for 28 years and during my lifetime have married three N. Italians. No, I'm not a 'serial monogamist', but two of the three died instead. One is my avatar. I have three grown kids who are half Italian and on my side, all of my ancestors are English and Scottish. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm surprised that the Italian teens didn't go beyond grabbing and pulling the reins! I hate to have to say this, but Italian teenagers are some of the most ill behaved people on earth. Granted, I'm generalizing, but I live three blocks away from a prestigious high school and come into contact with both students and parents on a daily basis, so I've had plenty of experience with them. So many of the parents don't seem to have taught their children any manners at all! As bad as these people were in London, and they were definitely bad, you should come to see how they' behave ' (or don't!) in their own country. I'm sure you've been to Italy, so I'm just using that as an expression. The streets are a madhouse, starting at about 3pm every single weekday when they're dismissed from school for the day!! I should add that their behavior on the metro, when they're taking school trips accompanied by teachers, is unbearable!! I love the country and am a dual citizen, but yikes 😳!! No one should have to deal with this kind of rude behavior. Sorry my comment is so long! Thanks for another great video!! 💯🙂

Same here. If the trip was reasonably local I always went there beforehand. If it wasn’t within a two hour journey, I checked everything. I worked with another teacher who brought her class on a field trip. All staff were very clued up about the great site we were visiting but she wandered off with her class.( I had no authority over her. She ignored us all. ) Her class, when asked what they saw, “ We saw some pigs”. That’s all. They’d had a very long walk, saw a pigsty and came back. They’d missed at least ten wonderfully reconstructed historical buildings including homes, a free freshly baked roll with butter and cheese and a demo of how they were all made on site, making a beeswax candle to take home, seeing people in historical costume and much more. Some people are just in the wrong job. 🙄

I live in a resort town on the eastern shore in America, so I can relate to all the tourists. I have been living here since 1989 and I can say that this summer is the busiest I have ever seen. I remember when I was about 10 walking from horse guards up a little lane coming out in Downing Street and just walked up to number 10 with my Grandfather ,saw a few cars out side and then walk down the road, How things have changed massive gates , Barricades,armed police, often wonder in some ways the world has moved forward and in others it’s gone backwards.

They should be ashamed of themselves ... but instead they have made me feel ashamed of them. So sorry for their actions. I live in a resort town on the eastern shore in America, so I can relate to all the tourists. I have been living here since 1989 and I can say that this summer is the busiest I have ever seen. But it's the disrespectful teenagers that have been the worst. Don't parents teach their children manners anymore?

The professionalism of these troopers are the best! They should be respected no matter if they are in formal uniform or in work day attire. I hope the election went well today in the U.K. We had a great 4th of July here, but still love our cousins in the U.K. Especially you John! OOPS! Maybe I should have said these gunners. Well They are all great not matter if they were Red, Blue or Brown uniforms.
I remember when I was about 10 walking from horse guards up a little lane coming out in Downing Street and just walked up to number 10 with my Grandfather ,saw a few cars out side and then walk down the road, How things have changed massive gates , Barricades,armed police, often wonder in some ways the world has moved forward and in others it’s gone backwards.

I don't understand WHY the Officers would tell them NOT to shout at tourists, are the Officers going to stand out front and make sure the tourists don't grab the reins, I doubt it!! So why tell the Guards what NOT to do regarding how they keep tourons off the reins! IT'S NOT RIGHT THAT A GUARD HAS NO CONTROL OF HOW PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO DO THINGS AND THEY HAVE NO VOICES!!!

They should be ashamed of themselves ... but instead they have made me feel ashamed of them. So sorry for their actions.
