Location & Upkeep is why this mall is so successful.. too many malls in the greater Philadelphia area are extremely outdated and placed in lower income areas.. tough to get people out with the rise of online retail.. it’s a shame to look back at the 70’s & 80’s mall footage.. what a time to be alive
Grew up in the 70's and 80's, my mall was Collin Creek in Plano ,Tx. Beautiful mall, then moved next to King of Prussia and have loved this mall since 95. So glad it is not a dying mall, cause I'm a mall type of dude. Thanks for the vid
I grew up in Philadelphia. I haven't been to KOP Mall since the late 70's. I've been living in Southern California for decades. Thanks for this 'memory!"
I miss that mall. I used to work there during Holiday 2012 (at Abercrombie and Fitch) and Holiday 2015 at Soma Intimates at the Court (go to 16:45 to see it) when I first heard about the connecting bridge being built.
I remember when from Thanksgiving to New Years, the malls were wall to wall people. If that's the busiest mall....wow. One sad and lonely Santa. How do these malls stay in business?
👍 great idea filming this beautiful mall. Very impressed of the size and how clean it is, floors polished, great first impression. Keep up the good work
@@lindarebstock8422How about the Acme, SpacePort, Ye Old Tobacco and it being an outdoor mall? The Food Court was awesome when they added it back in the day.
I live about two miles away from this mall. I am 53 years old and this mall is the reason I taught my 16 year old to drive and gave her the car because I could not handle the pick ups and drops offs due to the mall traffic. It’s so huge and just going near this mall triggers my anxiety!
Worked near KOP Mall in 2020. They tried so hard to convince the Governor the mall was essential and should stay open, but they had to close down, too.
this is cool i'm watching this wearing crocs. i've always wanted to visit king of prussia mall, especially when i was younger, because they always had the mall stores i wanted to go to. speaking of when i was younger, some photos of me when i was a child look a lot like GiV
I never really cared for malls, I preferred to shop in Center City when I lived in Philadelphia. I remember often we walked there or took the 90 or 12 bus. I have been to KOP a few times they were one of the few places open on Sunday back then. The real reason that alot of malls are dying is because there too were too many built back in the 70s and 80s.
Lived near there and remember when it was an outdoor mall, had an Acme, arcades (SpacePort) and Ye Old Tobacco shop. Was able to ride the bicycle there when I was 11(Early 80’s) without a problem. Today that would be a death sentence!
I can tell this was recently recorded because of the new fruit stand by The Gamestop and Food court with Chicken Guy. I am there frequently because I connect my local bus at the mall. I know the mall directory very well that I hardly get lost. Zounds hearing used to be where Life Sound is now near Morton’s The steakhouse & Five Below. I still think of Zounds being there. Anyone who needs to take Septa to King of Prussia Mall, Routes are 92 from West Chester serving Malvern and Paoli. 99 from Norristown to Phoenixville serving KOP mall. 123 from 69th street Transportation center and Havertown. 124 & 125 from 13th & Market in Center city, Amtrak 30th street station on the 29th & Market side to board toward the mall, Wissahickon Transportation Center & Gulph Mills. 124 from Chesterbrook & 125 from Valley Forge. And last 139 from Limerick serving Royersford, Spring City and Phoenixville. Thanks for the video to show everyone who isn’t there as often as I am. It was a great tour for those who want to visit.
The main difference between cologne and perfume is the concentration of fragrance oils, with cologne having a significantly lower concentration, resulting in a lighter, less long-lasting scent compared to perfume which is much stronger and lasts longer; essentially, cologne is a diluted form of perfume.
Half the fun of your vids is listening to your heavy northeast philly accent talk about the Lay-go’s. You can always fill in for the lead character in Universal Basic Guys if this goes south. Lol
I don't think I've been to the KOP mall since it was unified, I think the last time I was inside it was shortly after Wanamaker's closed and the mall was still 2 separate buildings. I have been next to the mall many times since then to go to the Imax theater.
Help me out here. When we lived in Philly I recall King of Prussia being a gigantic one level mall with anther mall right next to it. Is any of that correct?
I like visiting the KoP mall. I get my steps in! But so much insanely expensive things. It’s quite impressive. I’m glad not every mall is DOA I live near the Coventry mall, which has closed its interior. The Philadelphia Outlets (in Sanatoga PA) seems to be doing ok. Yet another Simon mall. It’s all outdoors, like an enclosed strip mall. But I’m thrift store girl, so I don’t shop these $$$$$$$$ stores. Rodeo Drive can keep them..😂
Met Obama at Walmart he was wearing a xmas onesie, I always wear pajamas at Walmart but we both wore crocs. He was getting some Krispy Kreme , xmas wrap and a Wu Tang Klan cd for the Mrs.
Kobe Bryant passed away a few years ago in a plan crash with his daughter and a few other people that’s probably why you keep seeing his picture at some sports places other than Los Angeles. I wanted to mention it because during a few of your mall walks you talk about him like he’s still playing.
@@ThePhillyCaptainSo you take no consideration of him being from Lower Merion? Neither do I but can appreciate the skill he displayed. Pissed he didn’t want to play for our 76ers.
This mall was great until A&F left...and Express...and all my other fave stores. Now they just have crappy boutique stores I don't care to shop at. It's fine...saves me mileage, time, money and gas driving there.
That's why I don't go to that mall it's to big and to busy for me and to many stores in there they should if put an amusement park in there like the mall of America
Words cannot describe how much I HATE this mall. It's turned into a luxury-store-only mall that people who come to it cannot even afford. It wasn't always this way and had nice anchor stores - which are all now GONE (Penney's, Strawbridges, etc.) I worked inside this mall for 15 years and only because of my employer (Apple) did I stay. The commute to that mall is horrendous, even on public transportation. There are times when the wait for a bus home would be hours long - and I lived in Upper Darby at the time, not that far away. Don't even suggest driving to this mall, especially during holiday. You will drive around the parking lot for over an hour looking for a place to park. And the repeat holiday songs played over and over inside the mall WILL ROT YOUR BRAIN.
If we spell to three different ways so we don't miss understand the meaning when reading. Shouldn't we explain what to we're using when speaking so people don't miss understand the meaning. I parked a ford tourist in front of that goose place 35 year's ago
It's not a Philly Captain Mall video without:
1. Xmas Eve in the Mall
2. A mention of the Lego guy 😂
compared to the other malls, this is refreshing to see....full of stores and people.
A giant box filled with stores. Very innovative.

I'm.so old I remember when there was no mall.
K of P was a kind of strip shopping center. This was back in the very late 60s/ early 70s.
You say "outdated." I say cool 1980's memories when the mall was King.
@ Im mainly speaking about the exterior… even a power wash and fresh coat of paint can do wonders
@@track1949when did they convert to an indoor mall? Do you remember when they announced the new construction? So cool thanks for sharing!!

Went to that mall twice for lunch during my trip to Philadelphia back in May. Great mall to shop and eat at.
The mall apparently first opened in 1963. Incredibly well maintained and upgraded.
My formative years were spent in this shopping mall; the 1990s saw a vibrant collection of clubs and bars.
Didn’t know there was a Chanel store in there, I know the girlies feel fancy when they visit that mall ❤
Love watching you and The GiV!😊
Was just there night to eat at Season 52! Great food and atmosphere and with my coworkers!
I enjoy the mall walks. Please don't forget the street you always film at Christmas with all the lights. 😊

Kobe went to LM high school, which is in Montgomery County .
KOP MALL use to be 2 malls at one time. Later connected to make one mall. Gimbels and Wanamaker's and JC PENNEY in one of them.
Do you remember when Korvette's was there?😊

Hey Philly Captain, great video from big fancy KOP Mall-Pa..Very cool music by Scoopski..Have a good one and enjoy on..
Love KOP, the outlets even better
Spent a ridiculous amount of time at this place as a teen😄 Nice to see it’s still kicking!

I follow GIV because of you and Adam🎉 What an interesting guy😀 I couldn’t believe the footage he got of the Malibu fires😳 So crazy!
Better than Rodeo, GIV yes. Nice one Capt.
Totally agree about the menu options
You can barely tell it’s Christmas where is the decorations and the Santa Village
Blue Nile is a jewelry store. It's nice stuff.

Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh is the same. Simon owned and has all those top notch store like Gucci, Nordstrom, Tiffany's, etc. Very successful mall.

Wow, haven't been there in awhile. Very nice. Is Macy's still there?
Yes
papi! so so sorry both Mall of America are top two largest,
but still ❤ ur mall visit
sad nostalgia for me.
i saw something the KOP is one on the top 5 malls in america... and super thriving...
Yo hun, he's talking about getting a handy at the mall 🤣
I love the GIV
the GIV of Philly
This mall kinda reminds me of the Cherry Hill mall. There’s only a very select stores that I can afford to shop in.
Haven't been there in like 35 years!
I haven't been in that mall since the mid 1990s

That song just reminded me I have not bought anything 😮

It sure has changed since I was a teen hanging out with the buds in the late 70s early 80s. Now it's filled with main line liberal yuppies.
Yeah that mall sucks now. Shopping in the 90s was way better than today. They sold stuff people actually cared to wear and buy.
