Hi abner. The DIY airpump can last depending on your consumption. Based on my experience, if you fully input air to the 5 gal container, it will give you the most at 4hours of aeration, that is depending on the rate of air you are releasing to your tank. The greater air, the sooner it will end. The DIY airpump will definitely be used only for a shorter period of time or in terms of power shortage only. If you have an extra budget you may secure a solar powered air pump. If you are living in an area that power shortage is frequent, and budget limits your capacity to purchase electronic air pump, i recommend you build not only 1 but more to suffice the need for your fish aeration during those times. Temp change nelz. Dapat acclimatization. Gradual change in water temparature will tend to shock the body temp of the fish. Although may meron sila lateral line scale to control tempnpero kung abrupt change they will sure die. Koi is sensitive to these parameters.
