This is my favorite Stevie Wonder song. I'm a bassist and the bass playing coming from Nathan Watts is nothing short of inspirational. Your drumming is always spot-on with every song that you choose.
There's massive challenges in the bass lines on that one ... so many lead in - outs bridging with the drum accentuations
Sina, I just LOVE your ”touch”! I’ve told you before; the way you PLAY the drums rather than whack the living daylights out of them. It becomes so very obvious in this clip, where you make your drums talk for you, with you, rather than combating them as though they were your enemies. You make them all come together in concerted harmony with a touch that is as beautifully youthful and feminine as yourself. You have the sensitivity of a classical concerto pianist playing Chopin when you play the drums, it’s a real pleasure to listen to. Thanks!
Every tune you play is my new favorite because you play it.
I literally hate the people who give you thumbs down. I look forward to every new thing you do.
Don't do that....they ain't worth the bile.
Technically probably not the most difficult song to drum I guess, yet you see the joy. Also liked the 4-split edit at the end. It fitted with the song.
That was a great cover of a great classic. Most cannot do it justice, but you certainly can Sina. Thank you!
excellent song by Stevie wonder, always hitting the songs I like, thanks for another good music Friday :)
Just watching and listening to you play puts me in a better mood Sina. Stevie does help a little bit too. Great Cover. Love you Sina!
Stevie helps a little bit, too? HA! The dude was AWESOME!
This was my very first drum lesson ever. I was given the dots to play. I’d had 8 years piano training and could sight read very well by this time. I still love this tune. Superb job Sina - as always.
Great Stevie, beautiful presentation Sina, bringing us joy and comfort in these times of calamity in the world, congratulations Sina admire you very much.
;-)
Love it! Between Sir Duke and Superstition, they are my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. Sounds so much better with the drums more emphasized! Just watching you work that high hat is mesmerizing!!
So nice to see you smiling again while you play! I've missed that.
This has always been a fun, up beat song. Listening to you playing drums with it lift my spirit. Appreciate the different angles showing you play. You have a great talent. Did I see a big smile at the end.
A real oldie and goldie. Thank you Sina for this happy tune
Gran trabajo Sina. Cada semana más guapa Sina.
So great! One of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs.
Swinging and rocking together, a happy, uplifting combination,
maybe just the right thing these days !
Many thanks for this wonderful cover !
Happy Easter ...
Klasse! Ihr Schlagezugspiel ist wunderbar betont und Stevie Wonder trägt wirklich zur guten Laune bei. Vielen Dank und frohe Ostern!
New music from you Miss Sina always improves my mood! Congratulations on your acceptance to the jazz/pop school. Never any doubt about that. Hope you and all the family have a wonderful weekend! 😁🤘💕😎
Mr wondet will be proud that you did a drum cover of this classic song 😃😀😄
Fantastic song and a Great cover Sina its just musical joy!!
It is an admiration to see the incomparable practice that Sina has, it is amazing what she does through the drums, I really like her way of synchronization, the taste for music that she has, it is fascinating what she does.
Groovy!!! As soon as I saw the song title, I clicked on the vid immediately!!! This is song is real catchy!!! And you played according to the song, simple fills and steady... Keep on the good work always, Sina...👏👏👏🌸🌈
Great job on this SW cover. Congratulations on your audition! The sky is the limit for you Sina. Happy Easter to everyone.🐰🐰🐰
Brilliant! Such a happy feeling to this tune by the great Steve - and it signifies and amplifies the elemental and basic love of music! And the rhythm and accents of the beats are such an intricate part to making this funky tune come to live and stand out! Sina accomplishes this smoothly and elegantly - it is a joy to listen to!!
You got that right Sina, definitely a tune to pick you up, especially with you on drums.
Thank you for the "feel good" song. A good choice in this time of great concern for everyone. There are so many songs the I would like to suggest you do a cover of, but you do a very great job both of choosing material and performing so I will refrain for the moment..lol. Keep up the fantastic work!.
Not too much that has not been said about your skill level. So I'll say Thank You Sina Doering and to the rest.
One of my favourite songs from my youth... So awesome you did this song!!! Bravo Sina!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😊😁😁❤️
No Major Write-Up Again, Just Another Rosanna Mini Version
THE SONG - "Sir Duke" was written and performed by American musician Stevie Wonder. It appears as the fifth track on side one of Wonder's 18th album 'Songs in the Key of Life', which was a double album. Recording of the album took place between 1974 to 1976 mostly at Hollywood's Crystal Sound Studio. There were also sessions recorded at the Record Plant in LA, the Record Plant in Sausalito, and The Hit Factory in New York. The final mix was done at Crystal Sound.
'Songs in the Key of Life' was released on Sept 28, 1976. "Sir Duke" was released as a single in Mar 1977. It was the third of five singles from the album. Earlier singles were "I Wish" (Dec 1976) and "Isn't She Lovely (Feb 1977 - internationally but not released as a single in the US). "Sir Duke" was followed by "Another Star" (Aug 1977) and "As" (Oct 1977).
'Songs in the Key of Life' was a major hit reaching #1 on the Billboard 200. It was also #1 in Canada and the Netherlands, #2 in the UK and top 10 in New Zealand, Norway and Sweden. In Austria it reached #15 and in Germany #23. "Sir Duke", surpassed the commercial success of "I Wish". It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 (spending three weeks at the top starting on May 21) and the R&B chart (for one week, starting on May 28).
The song's title refers to the late jazz bandleader Duke Ellington who had been a major influence on Wonder. It's a tribute not only to Ellington but to music and the musicians who create it. In the lyrics, Wonder also mentions [Count] Basie, [Glenn] Miller, "Satchmo" (Louis Armstrong), and Ella [Fitzgerald].
FUN FACT - The lead guitarist on this track is Michael Sembello who had a major hit with the song "Maniac" from the soundtrack of the movie Flashdance. Sembello worked with Stevie Wonder previously on 'Fulfillingness' First Finale'. He plays on most of the tracks on 'Songs in the Key of Life' and co-wrote the song "Saturn" with Wonder.
If you haven't heard (and I'm told it's no secret), Sina auditioned on Monday for the Jazz and Pop course at ArtEZ in Anheim. She was required to learn a jazz solo and improvise and she also had to play a Snare Etude. Needless to say, she passed the audition! Congratulations!
Take a look at Sina's subscriber count - 891k. Remember when everyone was so jazzed at 100k? 1M seemed like a loooong way off! It's comin'!
We just had our Maundy Thursday supper. For those of you observing Easter, have a peaceful, safe and virus free Holy Week. See you guys again in seven!
thank you for another really nice write up, for you and your family, have a safe and great Easter
Thanks so much for everything, Rosanna, have a lovely Easter weekend with your family!!
You're always most welcome Sina! I know you've been working hard and I'm sure you and your dad have been stressed out with all of the things going on. I hope you're able to get some peace and quiet this weekend! Cheers!
Hi Lonnie and Tris. Yeah, this Holy Week is quite challenging particularly figuring out what dishes we can make with what we have at hand. Are any of the Germans here observing Gründonnerstag for Maundy Thursday? It's something we "inherited" from a high school classmate several years ago whose mom was half German. They invited me for lunch and had green soup made from spinach and other greens. Luckily we had a can of spinach (Popeye didn't get to it!) and tonight we made a spicy spinach dish!
Juliet and Ro - thanks so much! Hoping you and yours have a peaceful Easter. Nice write-up! It's a kick to see that tie-in to Flashdance. I really appreciate your efforts. Thanks again and, take care.
Sina you rock and you do a very good job on the drums your buddy ben Brown from Cincinnati ohio
Excellent Sina!
Hey Sina! I'm glad that you're doing well!❤ Your awesome!

Love this little human drummiracle. Sina doesn't drum, she ís drums! In this sad coronatimes, she exhales pure happiness.
@Cletus Jonson After 8 months this silly question........
If this song doesn't want to make you sing along and feel happy inside, you've got no soul! Thank you Miss Sina for bringing back such a cheerful song that we never knew we were missing. Impeccable on the drums as always! Have a Blessed Easter everyone!
Happy Easter to you too Greg.

Beautifully played Sina, lots of soul and another great music choice 👍🏼👌🏽🙏🏼

You did a good job there again Sina and stay safe.
Magnifica interpretación Sina, menos mal que en esta aburrida cuarentena nos queda la música y músicos como tú que nos alegran. Un saludo y cuídate mucho.
Sina, it’s a pleasure watching you develop on the instrument. You are beginning to speak in your own distinct voice. Your chops are obvious but your pocket is what will pay the bills. Outstanding pocket here! No joke. Outstanding. Everything you played in this song was tasteful and musical. I cut my teeth on Stevie records, I haven’t heard many play it this well. My grandfather used to tell me, “there is no accounting for taste”...meaning you ARE your taste, some people have it, some people don’t. You have IT. I hope you will check out my friends here in New Orleans. All jazz, blues, gospel and rock and roll STARTED in New Orleans. Look up Ziggaboo Modeliste with The Meters, Smokey Johnson & Earl Palmer (Fats Domino). Earl played on most of the earliest rock and roll tunes, he INVENTED the BACKBEAT and moved to LA to become the most recorded drummer in history as a session musician. Look up The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. These are roots of all popular music. Keep doing what your doing!! I love it and I’m a professional drummer who has also thought for 25 years;)
That was such a great, fun song to hear this morning. Of course the impeccable drumming from the new ArtEZ student. I know you can drum to anything but thought I saw a special liking of the jazzier stuff when you shared those videos. You are going to have so much fun and learn many new tricks, I'm sure. As for the quad of extras this week. Still blown away that you played with Brian May. And the newbies Feng & Talita (to us anyway) are an amazing find, again, from you. Of course Lucy and her solid guitar play show you are always cooking up something great for us. So thankful for the special person you are. Wash those special hands so the surprises never cease. Many be safe blessings to you and yours.
Thank you, so happy back in my day!!!!! You are so very Good!!!
Miss Sina, Double Congratulations on reaching 900K subscribers AND you are trending again for the 2nd time this year on RUclips!! Since the beginning of January, you've gained over 133K new subscribers. Your videos have been viewed over 46.7 Million times thru April 15th. People are noticing you more and more. On to 1 Million Subscribers next!!
I remember this song from when I was young. Ah, memories! Thank you, Sina for bringing back this gem!
Excellent drum cover. Stevie was truly a child prodigy. He signed with Motown when he was 11 and already had a hit at age 13 with Fingertips.
Hi Sina, I think Stevie Wonder is an amazing musician how someone that's totally blind can be such a brilliant musician and song writer another one comes to mind Ray Charles both amazing. Your cover is amazing whether or not you did it before doesn't matter I could see you were enjoying yourself and you sounded great. Yes such unusual times I hope you and your family have an excellent Easter celebrate the best way you can Thank you Sina for always being there for us and your nice replies on patreon and your hearts on youtube it's my absolute pleasure to support you,
My DEAR BEAUTIFUL Sina I have to say the same that "I can FEEL U ALL OVER" like your playing this beautiful music.
this turned out really great, Stevie Wonder was born in the city I work in, Saginaw Michigan, when he was a young child, he moved to Detroit Michigan, which is about 120 miles or about 194 kilometers, from Saginaw Michigan. a lot of the area, around, the house he lived in, in Saginaw is now vacant lots, what was once a very populated area, is now vacant. Thank you fore everything you do Sina.
I'm from Flint, cheers!

Mission accomplished! Thank you! :D
Hey Sina
You are always amazing with whatever covers you perform. With the extraordinary skill of yours you always sound far better than the original artists put together. God bless you girl. And you stay safe. 😊❤
I’ve always liked your free form type of drumming. You look so relaxed and just having a blast. Great work.
This song and album dominated the airwaves when I was in 7th grade. One of the greatest albums ever recorded. Even better than the Jonas Brothers. :-0

Sina the Rock Star nails it again! I look forward to Fridays. You are a conduit. The music flows through you, through your drums, through the interwebs, and into my ears. Such a gift!
Played that song in 1977 when I was in high school w/our jazz band & choir.
It's a close call but I think you sound a little better than I did. 😉

You are awsome Sina, favorite percussionist. Lol congrats on Anheim and jazz gig. Cant believe how many subs u r up to. God bless you and whole family. 🙏 thanks bud
I listen to your music with a system with BIG bass speakers and separate amplifiers for them. Cause drums and bass need to be felt as well as heard to really appreciate them.
Immer wieder erstaunlich wie "smooth" du spielst. Wieder mal ein Klasse cover. Mach bitte weiter so 😍
SUPERB - love all those AMAZING fills :) ! Take care and God bless !!!
Thank you for something light and energetic. It's exactly what we need in the current climate! Happy Easter to you and yours. 🐰😊
You like Stevie, I thought you had good music taste before but this just confirms it... Could you do a cover of As?
What a treat for us this Easter weekend, thank you Sina! As usual this is another perfect cover of a great 70s song. I remember so many great songs being released in the 70s during my high school years. During this pandemic we likely have even more time to enjoy various art forms and entertainment. I personally believe one of the greatest forms of art and entertainment we can enjoy is music. It can lift the soul, tell a story, make us smile and laugh sometimes, and reminisce about good times. Thank you Sina for sharing your skills and making beautiful music for us to enjoy.
Wow! This funky little chica really rocks!
wow, the funkadelic era is so much fun!!
Dear Sina!
Almost in every comment section there are a lot of wishes where the funs asks you to play their favourite songs.

This is very cool haha I've recently been playing this song on the drums and seeing this drum cover helps me a lot haha thanks sina.
I hit LIKE before the first beat because I just knew that if you chose to do this song you have it nailed. And you do. Damn! This is one of my favorite jams from childhood. Amazing amazing AMAZING cover, Sina.
You are awesome! And you made my day with this one - it has always been one of my favs! Thanks!!! I am smiling ear to ear!!!
Awesome, such a joy filled song, can tell you love playing this one by one of the great composers of songs made for joy and love, at this needed time - Stevie Wonder. Thank you Sina.
I’ve watched all of your covers , and this is probably my favorite so far! The song is awesome, but just the groove you’re in! It’s just cool to watch. Thanks Sina ❤️
Congratulations Sina - both for being accepted on the course, and for swingin' with Sir Duke!
