Rock On !! John
Nick Manson is such decent honest modest guy. ...he never bad words in his bones !❤.
Nick is like Ringo and Charlie. He plays the music, not just a drum part. Perfect for those tunes.
Great cars. Great career. Underrated drummer. Charmed life. Proves the truth of the importance of being well liked by the people around you.
I think he is the wittiest, funniest member of them all. He knows his place in the band, and David Gilmour said it best "you could have the greatest drummer in the world play these songs, and it might sound right......but its still lacking Nick's presence and fittting way of making us what we were"
Pipers is actually very relevant today, it is not dated as he tries to label it. It is actually the most interesting Floyd's album today, it the one we still listen to. I am sorry to say
Yes would agree..the only real comparison of Syds songs to other music in the 60s was that they just happened to be written at the same time, that’s the end of their similarities..Astronomie dominie could easily have been penned in the noughties, interstellar overdrive would easily fit with everything else being produced in the 90s..nearly every other song on piper could have been written by the Cure, Bauhaus and other similar acts of the 80s..Syd barrett was years ahead of his time..the Beatles were 60s as were the stones to a large degree, the Floyd under Syd barrett weren’t!. Nick in general is full of garbage and doesn’t really relate the real truth of the situation..his book was highly boring where it should have been groundbreaking!
He does not say it was dated. He said it was of its time, a time of experimentation with the possibilities of songcraft. You could say the same about Sgt Peppers, Are You Experienced, The Doors, and a dozen other albums from 1967. I’m always amused by people who deliberately misunderstand a basic point so they can pretend their precious is under attack. But I accept your apology.
@@rupowell2821I feel so fortunate to hear the truth of the situation from some Internet rando as opposed to Nick Mason. He was the only member of the Floyd who was there from the beginning to the end. What the bloody hell would he know, eh?

Amazing album
All the Band members played perfectly together each one was agenius making perfect music for us to enjoy,
I think having a stable drummer is more important than people think. Nick provided that in PF. Like Paicey in Purple. The Beatles took off with Ringo. Rush with the Professor. Zeppelin disbanded with the loss of Bonzo. And Keef has always said the Stones will go as long as Charlie goes. Having that foundation to build off of is vastly underrated.
And the stones are STILL going even without Charlie
Props for the mention of Ian Paice, one of the three virtuoso instrumentalists who defined the Deep Purple sound!
I went to Nick’s Saucerful of Secrets show in 2019 in D.C. After the show I was in line to meet him. After Guy Pratt and the rest of the band got on the bus, Nick stayed behind to meet the fans. When he got to me, I asked him, “Mr. Mason, could I possibly get a picture with you sir?”
His exact response to me was, “Photography can be difficult,” in a very mannered response. At first I was bummed but totally understand he keeps it professional. I look fondly on that memory.
We love you Nick.
What great guy....not inflated...seems genuine
The " Very Idea " That any of the band members " Could Have Adopted An American Persona " Is at best " Mildly ludicrous " And at worst " Completely Absurd " !! But a fine interview with Nick Mason whom I have had the pleasure of meeting ! He remains " Ever The Gentleman " !!! From Adrian Browne 1965
Thankyou 4 Your " Positive Reply 2 My Nick Mason post!! From Adrian Browne 1965
Thanks 4 Support re my Floyd Post !! From Adrian Browne 1965
Thnx guys, for a great interview.
Brilliant tnx nick for your input.
Pink Floyd did do the blues r&b thing in 1965 with Bob Klose before Syd started writing
Have you watched my Bob Klose interview?
Now thats a dream album pick bits and pieces that have never been released over all of pink floyds years as a remaining members project including Roger and splice them togather like a new kind of cake, adding a few tidbits along the way, like a historical story of the band. Play nice.
Were talking the start of the band to Gilmore last solo stuff. Including sid and before if any of its on tape.
Could be a 2 or 3 record set.
The cookie dough left over in the mixing bowl. Scraps as they were done, cutting that hit the floor. This idea is classic pink floyd.
THE CUTTING FLOOR.
Great effort by Nick to keep his face straight regarding the singing 😂
brilliant
No butterfly tie dye t-shirt or Fat Freddy tash…..this is NOT Nick Mason.
Scarecrow is so a folk song.
Nick was the only member of the band who never quit, never got kicked out and performed on every album. Yet you post under 9 minutes of his interview?
Limited due to copyright
Gilmour wanted to kick him in old times
i remember this particular interview being longer, do you have the rest?
I do have it but can't upload it 😭
@@heavymeddle28 copyright reasons?
@@skalitstudio2208 I suppose so. Funny that you wrote this comment because today i tried to do everything I know how to do like speed up, speed down, mirror it and you name it. But I'm no expert in computer things, Internet and RUclips. Have you got any suggestions? If I get it up I'd give you a note right away 😊
@@heavymeddle28 maybe try another site, like dailymotion or vimeo. and let us all know how to search it. that would great :)
@@skalitstudio2208 I'll do that. I have to tell you that our time zones probably are the opposite. It's morning here in Thailand and if you're in the US then it's probably night. I'll try tonight, for me, after I finish work 😊
I only realised a little while ago that Nick does lead vocal on Scream Thy Last Scream and Syd only does the pitch shifted double track one. I thought Nick was Syd! He does himself a disservice being so self deprecating.
Was the interview before or after 9-11?
Yeah, it was more 9-30am.
It released in November, so it was created pre 9/11
👨🏼🚀
He says that Pink Floyd would end up playing “the gnome” like it’s a bad thing, compared to the utter, self indulgent SHIT shit they put out in the 70s.. my god, the lack of self awareness is mind boggling
That 'self indulgent shit' you will find talks to an enormous number of people.
You mean their best period as a band?
Dark side of the moon was Nick Moores favorite album and wish you were here was David Gilmore and Roger Waters favorite album.
I can only hear this outburst delivered by Rick in “The Young Ones” which makes it even funnier
@@tpbrcombo that's actually pretty funny. Switch out Pink Floyd for Cliff Richards, and yeah, I'm Rick.
They subtly killed Syd by neglect
I'm assuming most contributors are American here.
Hardly a mention of Sid. Which is what it's mainly about.
Couldn't see anything about Brits NOT singing in pretentious USA accents either.
Not a great drummer or very pleasant person, some people are born lucky
thanks for that chief
@@ooo8188 I met his sister in 90 she didn't like him either
@@MrWilander88 what does that mean?
He speaks very highly of you
