The language you teach is Portuguese no matter the accent and the slang.
É a variedade que faz a beleza da nossa língua mas é a nossa união que faz a sua força. 9 paises, 4 continentes e mais de 270 milhões de falantes nativos.

I really liked this short lesson - it’s what I’m really interested in. (Learning to speak like a carioca) you should do more of these…even if it’s basic everyday phrases but teach it in a way how cariocas would normally speak…not what the text book teaches us. Either way, your delivery was good….perhaps you should start your own language channel

Ya see…this is why I need words to be spelt to me. My friends taught me “tá ligado” but I thought it was one word spelt “telegado” and I also thought “vem cá” was “venka”

To better understand spoken Portuguese, try watching videos with subtitles to reinforce your comprehension while listening. Mimic phrases aloud to enhance pronunciation and fluency. Just keep practicing, and you'll see improvement over time!

It becomes easier to understand when you know the correct way to say it, then learn the shorter way. Tá ligado is from está ligado, and está is very commonly shortened to tá. Tá bom, tá bem, tá aqui, etc. many words in Portuguese are shortened, so I understand the difficulty, and as a learner, I went through (and still go through) these types of confusions.

"Qual foi?" Qual foi foi ontem, é qual vai ser?" 😂😂😂 It's like a "Wasup?" "Wasup WAS yesterday, the thing is WHATisGoing!" 😂😂😂 It's just a joke with the past verb Foi/Was.

"Tá ligado" não é gíria carioca, é paulistana e se difundiu pela TV, principalmente pelos VJs paulistas da MTV e pelo pessoal do hip-hop.

Só não usa gíria irado. Estava falando com minha miga e eu disse meu cu dói (pq malhei)... Bem.. aprendi rapidamente o significado da palavra 😂😂😂
Usei literalmente quando eu quis dizer que minha bunda doeu 😂
Mas minha miga riu muito e eu aprendi então 🤷🏻‍♂️😂
