Every hear a song that chokes you with grief and knowing, but also helps you exhale into relief? This song did that for me. Thank you for sharing your gift. This is the only kind of prayer I got in me lately…
heard this at church camp last week - started tearing up pretty much from "i pray if a prayer has been used as a sword", nearly broke at "if you don't want healing i just pray for peace", was fully cracked open at "amen for the chronically ill and disabled" i don't think i can put into words how meaningful this song is to me. thank you
I listen and learn every night, before bed. I was a pastor and abused for 45 years...I'm healing and sharing your heart every chance I get. I've survived cancer twice and at one point didn't want healing, I've fought bi-polar for 25 years and it's been used against me at every turn. I don't have words for the comfort you bring me. I got away from an abusive monster after 45 years. I'm still here. I don't want to be dead, today. I have hope and believe for my and your, future.
Thank you for sharing a bit of your life here. With spiritual abuse at the forefront of my healing, each time people like you, and Spencer share your story in words and song, I am able to slowly begin to fear a "god" less and less.
Heard this beautiful prayer sung at Amherst UU church service the morning after 5 people were killed at the gay Colorado nightclub. I don’t think I’ve ever been so moved by a song. Yes, Spencer, it is a ploughshare. Bless you for sharing it. - Kris
Our pastor played this in church this morning (with your permission.). Thank you for this amazing prayer for the many people in our society that have and are facing trials.
Spencer, you are a gift. Blessings upon blessings upon you, Dear One. Keep bringing your full self forward - it's healingly beautiful. Kchi Wliwni ~ Rev. Auburn
My whole life I have heard the angry, cruel voice of my birth-father . . . it never seems to diminish. I also still fear the weaponization of religion in our nation and the ridicule of my family. I often pray for my own strength but even more, for the many that have suffered in ways that I can not imagine. Thank you for this song Spencer LaJoye. Your words will be a new mantra for me . . . praying for others often makes our own burdens feel less heavy.
Your song sings God's heart for the broken in all of us - an astounding opus. Long may you live to bring more of God's prayer and music into our beautiful and wounded world.
What a beautifully empathetic song. Something like this could easily be condescending, but it shows so much patience and compassion and understanding and acceptance. I wish every single person could hear this at least once.
Absolutely beautiful and powerful. It made me cry. I could find myself and many of my friends in this song, so thank you for your prayers. Never lose your voice, Spencer. It is powerful Marie
Every once in awhile a song comes out that just makes reaches in and grabs your soul. 🙏🏾 Thanks again, Spencer for helping us find deeper ways to pray 💜☮
What a beautiful metta prayer of compassion and kindness! Thank you so much for this insight. The greatest challenge of this time to to find the strength to pray compassionate prayers for the man, hateful, brutal and those who persecute us and wish us ill or this to censor us or erase us. You have cover all of this and so much more. The song is a reflection of heart of God who loves all. I am tempted to try to learn your profound song but I don't think I could do it justice. I might try just because the words touched me so deeply. I am also a singer song writer. I feel where you soul is coming from. Thank you. I post a lot of my material on my RUclips channel. You song was a a 10 for me!
I LOVE YOU. I have listened to this song for a year. And am so grateful that this is being blessed! I thank you for being a Voice for the prayers of my Heart. And a Voice for many others unheard. With Much Humble Gratitude, I pray that you be heard! 🙏. Spencer LaJoye ❤
Much thanks to Nadia Bolz-Webber for sharing this in her weekly newsletter so I can discover this beautiful creative prayer. Spencer, you truly have a gift to break one open and remind us how raw and tender so many prayers are. Amen. Amen. Amen. May you continue to be inspired to bring more prayers to the world.
My favorite artist I saw at WHEATLAND music festival this year 2024 ❤ you're amazing. My camp mate sang me this song and I cried. Then you did it and I cried again! I hope you someday meet up with Walt (camp mate) once again & do a duet❤️
Spencer, I got so PTSD-triggered the last few days and this song has helped me so much to return to heart centered sanity. Thank you for expressing such a beautiful prayer for all. your connection to your heart and higher power are palpable. I know you have been hurt and witness that you turned the hurts into light and love. ❤
I can't tell you how much this means to me. For 67 years I have been living this and hear it focused so clearly is a blessing beyond belief. Thank you.
I commit to listening to your song as often as possible in my healing process. Thank you for your wonderful contribution to this process. You take me into the depths and bring me to the core ❤.
Thank you so much for this song. I lack 5 kinds of privilege and have lost so much, so I can relate to too many lines of this song. I find it very powerful to imagine singing it to those for whom pain and privilege came between us, and giving this song back in love. If I never hear another song from you, you still made a difference to me. Thank you ❤❤🔥
Our Seattle church's youth group suggested this song for Good Friday (fits the theme that the cross is ultimately about solidarity - God suffering with us and for us) - and now it's a new favorite of mine!
Got this from my sister today:) and it had me in bits! What a world we live in. God help us all! Thank you for writing this beautiful song it unlocked a wave of grief within me. Marc
AMEN FOR YOU SPENCER LaJOYE!!! IT CERTAINLY DOES WORK!! FROM ALL THE WAY FROM KENYA: YOUR PRAYER WORKS TO THE VERY HIGHEST HEAVENS OF ALMIGHTY ABBA YAHWEH'S HOLY MOUNTAIN OF DIVINE ZION FOR IT IS OF LOVE DIVINE AGAPE
I heard this song during the Episcopal Youth Event 2023 and was so moved that I've become obsessed with it. This is such a beautiful, meaningful impactful song. It literally brought tears to our eyes. Thank you for this beautiful blessing.
Used it in worship yesterday at the end of my sermon on how the church has been called (and often failed) at showing God's inclusive love. Thought I had listened to it enough not to have it get to me, but I barely made it through the end of my sermon. So powerful.
So love this song. Share the feeling this is one of those anthems like Cohen’s Hallelujah that is meant to reshape things, that in glorying in people least likely to be thought of as glorious, they indeed are.
Thank you, thank you so much. I heard this song live just recently and it truly made me happy i'm still hear, every word of it was beautiful and i will never be able to say how much it means to me. i was crying at "I pray if a prayer as been used as a sword" and so so many of the verses just hit so close to home, so thank you❤
Wow. Thank you so much for coming to NC. You escaped my very small covid world and but for your flyer being shared with me by a friend the night before your concert...well it was shared, I was there, and you and your gift to speak my truth won't escape my attention again. Thank you. And now I share your talents with others. That's how forming a community of support around you works. Namaste.
So glad we were introduced to you! My daughter and I have been listening to this song on loop! Touches deep within my soul. Your passion resonates. Thank you for sharing your gifts!
We used this song in our worship this past weekend (thanks for giving us permission) and our folks really loved it. We didn't have time to share the entire song so I plan on sharing this on social media. You are so gifted.
@SpencerLaJoye I have shared this song so many times. I have played it at open mics here in town, with full credit, of course. This song changed everything for me.
I cry every single time I listen to this song. It is about inclusivity and kindness. Attributes sorely lacking in today’s world.
This is the most powerful worship song I've ever heard. I grew up in the church, I'm in school to be a pastor, and I just want to thank you
Every hear a song that chokes you with grief and knowing, but also helps you exhale into relief? This song did that for me. Thank you for sharing your gift. This is the only kind of prayer I got in me lately…

My God this just wrecked me. You just sung the prayer of my heart. Thank you for this amazing gift and for letting your light shine.
Your music, this song, reaches people like no sermon can. You are changing hearts, healing souls. There is no greater gift for the world anointed one.

Oh my heart this is a necessary and good song. A cry of bloodied undefeated hope.
Stunning. Thank you for not keeping it to yourself.
What a beautifully empathetic song. Something like this could easily be condescending, but it shows so much patience and compassion and understanding and acceptance. I wish every single person could hear this at least once.
A powerful, touching piece, absolutely preformed from the heart. Nadia Bolz-Weber recommended this and she was spot on.
